.... Of Mr Wonderbird. I originally saw this on NYC public access tv a couple of years ago. This is probably one of the more esoteric scenes from one of the more esoteric feature length animated films from 1952. A distopian future based on a tale by Hans Christian Anderson (The Sheperdess and The Chimney Sweep). A tyrant is overtaken by his own ego. And torments a kingdom with henchmen and robots. Only to be overturned by a chimney sweep and a sherpdess who emerge from paintings to become real. Asssisted by Mr Wonderbird they seek to run off in love. Pursued by the tyrant until his undoing. I love the visuals, sound, voices and subject matter of this. Its realy beautiful. Top notch. Its a shame that western animation has become so consolidated to only represent a couple of styles today.

Apparently it is public Domain. Download it for your ipod. I picked up a dvd copy on amazon for less than a buck.
