THE BURNING OF KINGSTON

This article was posted by Bates 2 months, 2 weeks, 2 days, 11 hours, 42 minutes ago.

Earlier this month, Mass Appeal teamed up with Red Bull to host The Burning of Kingston, a competition between some of graffiti’s most masterful when it comes to the “burner.” The competition’s participants included “Team Terrible” (Doc TC-5, T-Kid, Dero, and Dmote) and “the Spice Boys” (Ces, Bio, Doves, and Ribs). Despite the falling rain, the artists showed up to show and prove. Delivering an array of styles, letterforms, caricatures, and more, the artists truly made the first inaugural event a time to remember. Hit the video player up top to join Mass Appeal’s Sacha Jenkins for a little history lesson and to watch the battle unfold. Did “Team Terrible “come out on top or did “Spice Boys” come with the fuego?

Much thanks for the additional support from Montana Cans, and the Kingston Trolley Museum of New York for helping to put together an indelible event celebrating one of America’s true original art forms.

100 EUROPEAN GRAFFITI ARTISTS BOOK

This article was posted by Bates 2 months, 2 weeks, 5 days, 9 hours, 55 minutes ago.

100 European graffiti artists book featuring Ironlak Family members DOES, BATES, STORM & MR WANY.

One hundred extraordinary artists representing many European cities, each with its own and often uniquely inspiring graffiti scene, including London, Amsterdam, Paris, and more. This dense, sprawling portfolio is the product of ‘modern day documenter’ Steam 156s undisputed knowledge of European graffiti, and includes artist profiles, most written by the artists themselves, crew affiliations, locations, the year they started, details about style, influences, and characteristic strokes, contours, and angles, with hundreds of photos in all. A medium of powerful, youthful, artistic expression, graffiti spread rampantly across Europe in the early 1980s–and has never ceased. Cities across the continent are now hosts to halls of fame, abandoned spaces, and streets full of incredible work by artists, featured in this book, who are carrying the art form boldly into the future and expanding its influence even further.

The adventures of Aper on the European continent seems to not have an end. The canadian graffiti mercenary came to conquer the transit systems of Palma de Mallorca and Rome. Together with another writers as Dase, Tiros and Bomba, Aper reports back from his action filled vacations in both mediterranean cities. Fast actions and fun on a high level which doesn’t lack of anything…
