Resaving from Illustrator CS2 to CS

I don't have cs2...but I'd bet its like saving cs1 to an old format Illustrator 9 file. Instead of save...go to export.

Thanks SteveAustin, but the problem with CS & CS2,
is that CS2 files won't open at all in CS(1). unlike older versions,
or as with photoshop, they might open, but with the loss of embedded settings.

if you have Freehand see if you can open it that way. resave, open in AI.

or try opening it in acrobat and saving it as a pdf then try opening it in AI

or send it to someone with CS2 and have them save it backwards for you

just have the creator save it the way I said to and then resend it to you. I don't have CS2 or I'd hook you up.

Adobe is doing that so people will be forced to upgrade their software.

are you talking about saving a legacy file?

i believe is:
save as>
ai legacy>, then choose what version you want to save it as...

fuck a legacy file.. that shit got kiboshed after cs1.

just back save as an eps.

so save as.

after you define the name of the file and the save location another screen will pop up with eps..save specs at the top..it theres a drop down menu click.. ver10.

if youre ever sending files to a printer.. save as an eps and save for ver10..unless otherwise specified by the printer.

same with saving pdfs people auto save.. to the newest version of acrobat.. its always good to back save.. a version or two back. ie.. acrobat 5.


dont use legacy files.. shit gets whack.

only major problem in backsaving is that the new nested grouping function in cs2 makes everything nested in invisible groups and clipping paths when opened in prior versions.
