View Full Version : Pastels
I haven't seen a single post done in pastels. Why doesn't anyone do anything in pastels? I just borrow em from my sisters cuz they do art or steal em from the art room, or since I'm not able to, I get my sister to just give me em. They blend nice, and, you can get a really badass range of colors, and alot of time you can do whatever you want with em. Especially Nupastels

I think hes looking for pieces done in pastel. I dunno, i think i'll give this a try tonight or tomarrow afternoon, sounds pretty cool..maybe like a 3d piece or somthing would look bomb
Doing 3d styled pieces works perfect with pastels because the range of values for colors is great, which is essential for shading.

That looks pretty good dude, I would say keep working on the details of the face. Don't be afraid to go dark around the eyes. I think it will help define the eyes and the nose better..either way i think it turned out pretty well..gimmie a few minutes i'll round up some of mine from a whileback and post them up. Few portraits too, see what you think of mine..

These are a couple i did, i've done alot more..all of them relatively small..only about 5x5 maybe 8inches tops. Anyways, i did a series of street lamps at night..this is my favorite one. The portrait is of my buddy jeff, i've got several of them..i'll try to upload some more later. They're suppose to be really loose and quick, i spent no more than 10minutes on either of these..probably less than that.

line.
stroke.
and tone.
pastels are fun because you have so much freedom. the pastel itself has a huge variety in the way it moves.
Port, that first one has a really great style, i dig it

i use oil pastels, i really like the way they come off onto the paper. pastels for me are really relaxing because i don't sketch before hand or anything of that manner, i just go at it really quick and what it is, is what it is. I enjoy the loose feel of them, regularly im really a linearist, i use lines and i like perfect lines..where as with these the line varies and the colors merge and its just really enjoyable, and i think they're pleasing to look at..at least for me they are, and thats all that really counts when doing what you do.
