Seattle, in the humble opinion of disco bryso (it's my first post here, but I've lived there my whole life--yes, my opinion counts for something), has fallen off. I spend all but my summers in NYC and I've been welcomed home by a city void of excess graffiti. this is bad. Seattle has that edgy, artistic nature to it that makes for an excellent graf scene, but no one is really out there putting in work. what's the point? if the city's culture is dead then who are we writing for, joe q. public the average work-a-day man? hell no. I want to remember the Seattle of yesteryear when construction sites, rooftops, doorways had graffiti all over their surfaces. and not just broadway, the ave, and downtown. I went back to my old high school and it had been hit harder than the city's streets. the fact is that Seattle has become too artsy for its own good. make up your mind, are you a writer or an art student? I'm convinced that the two can be combined, but don't begin to think that just because graf. has reached an unprecedented level of mainstream acceptance that this means you don't have to bomb, and hard. spots that I've seen hit for years have now suddenly fallen off. disco bryso has noticed more and more of these artistically talented finding graffiti in the 206, which is fine, but please do not overload my city with candy-colored pieces, 3D shit that whilst technically challenging lacks appeal and other forms of graffito garbage. please, please, please someone prove to me that seattle is not a one-trick pony. someone show me that TITS and KYT are not the end all be all of graffiti here. if you are in the seattle-area, go write on shit. I beg you. bring back the tradition of crazed-bombing (a la adek, chek, tred, jaber) --stay illegal!
