By the way, that piece you liked is walmart black with that colorplace yellow outline and some grayish blue roller paint background. 5 minutes, while waiting for the fill in my other piece to dry.
The one that everyone seems to like is assorted roller paint background, that vertical streak of dark blue is scraps of every blue can I had. The piece is Painters Touch warm yellow, krylon teal blue outline, and krylon black forcefield.

If you'd like me to furnish some sketches from 1997-1998 (at that point i had only seen the Joker stuff in 12 oz issues. Was he doing abstract then?), I could probably do so. Maybe even some painted work, if i can find some flicks.

Certainly not necessary. I can see I was bit more abrasive than my normal self in my original post. I guess I viewed that paticular style as Very individual to Joker. Like many styles, they become mainstream and most leave there creator forgotten about. It seems Im not as tech at deciphering styles as I thought, I just cant see the differance there, to me some of that actually looks like it says Joker. I suppose this is only the begining days of that style in the grande scheme of styles. But most of all, I think this started at Paint Louis last year. I had people asking me where Joker was, and said he had a piece down the road, but it was a Ouija piece. That kinda struck a nerve, and it is mainly that paticular piece I think of when this comes to mind. I have nothing at all against you personally and like I said you obviously have skills, I cant paint as clean as either of you. I guess anyone that knows my ID thinks Im a jerk now (wont be the last). Im actually pretty damn laid back, thats just been building up for a bit. I'm just really tired of the Joker comparisons. Being in the crew doesn't help much I'm sure. I think maybe it's time for me to switch it up a little. I don't want this repuation as a pretty picture legal wall guy. It's not very accurate.

As far as Joker quitting, I don't know what to say. He's mentioned it, but i don't know.

As far as all that goes, I'll lay it down on how I feel about abstract and all that shit. It's one big uphill battle against graffiti. No one is willing to accept it except kids starting out. Anyone who's been painting a while isn't into it, with a few exceptions. What i do personally is a regular wildstyle, just hollow and overlapped. It's not a big stretch. What Joker does is a designy style with roots in architecture and simplification of form. I'm just tired of pushing so hard and I need a break right now. Maybe have someone actually accept some originality out of me, and not brush it under Joker's carpet.

i'd say pilau and mero hit the nail on the head. some people look at graffiti and say it all looks the same. those who appreciate graff (and art in general), even just a little bit, will see that it isn't all the same; but this is different with everyone. just an example: when a piece is so crazy that i can't even begin to read it, i lose interest in it, and i don't really marvel at the complexity or detail. so i'd be more inclined to say that really crazy wildstyle pieces might look the same...to me.

My opinion wasn't asked for nor is it warranted, but I guess that's what the internet is for, huh.

It's sad to think that I won't see any new Joker paintings for a while. You're work is truly inspirational man.

Sonik once said that there are similarities between Joker's, Mune's, and Ouija's style, but that anyone who can't tell the difference by now, isn't looking hard enough. This makes sense to me. I've seen wildstyle so much to the point that if it's not amazing, I think it's shit. That's my personal opinion and I'm welcome to it. If you don't move me somehow, if I feel nothing, then why would I look more than once? It's hard to step out of the box and do something new...if you don't try to at least do that, what good is it? Joker's style is one of the first times I saw anything step outside the norm and say how about this. Ouija's stuff did that for me also.

My point is this, the first person to put arrows on a piece was original, the second was not. But maybe he turned the arrow one way or another and then that was original. Nowadays, the majority of writers use arrows, and a percentage of that use arrows to hide bad unimaginative letters. Joker worked long and hard on his style, and now people have stuff that looks like it and are called biters. Is this right or wrong. Is it different than saying, "Hey I should add an arrow too?" I'm not sure. Where is the line that determines whether you're biting him, or taking what he did and adopting it to something else, thereby changing it? Is that point far away or not? When you're involved in something like graffiti, everything is built on what the previous person did. If it wasn't, we'd still all be outlining tags with a different color like Comet. I guess you can only answer this with personal opinion, but the sad thing is, not many people can tell you the very first person to put an arrow on a piece. Sometimes your work is remembered more than your name. Joker's name isn't going to be forgotten, even if I'm the last one saying, "Don't you remember..." to a bunch of new kids.

I've been no doubt affected by Joker's style simply because it's fucking original...something severly lacking in many things. You can't help but see something you love and say I WANT TO DO THAT...you just have to fight yourself. Ouija is an extremely talented and dedicated painter. Who knows where's he's going to go. Sometimes you pass through the filter and come out the other side with something all your own. That battle is sometimes easy and sometimes hard.

Whether you believe that copying is the sincerest form of flattery or not, people are going to bite and those who don't know any better are going to give them respect for it. Ouija does his thing, and I'm never going to count him out as far as striving to be infinitely better at what he does. If I had half his dedication, I'd be content.

How many of you use arrows?

Think about that.

Alright. I've seen enough. My turn. What's with all of you? Joker and Ouija do 'abstract' graffiti and you crucify Ouija for not being the first to do it. You say that Ouija bites Joker but you don't go after anyone else. That's pretty toy to be going after some of the people who are starting the abstract movement in graffiti. It's like with going to the new world... Columbus supposedly did it first but people had to do it after him, perhaps even in the same way to get things done. And the rest of transcend crew is doing this to get abstract graf established. If it was only Joker doing it what good is it? It needs to be bigger than just one person, and it already is. FUCK THAT MENTALITY....we're all here for different purposes, and I'm with you on the purpose or doing art, fuck it if Jet wants to pose as a hard ass or all these other kats let them do what they want...Please only but yourself bro, I know positive reinforcement helps the artist, but sometimes it's those who bend the rules that are most remembered, that are most inspiring..

About the Joker thing, I can see a resemblance, but that doesn't mean you've been biting like some of these kats claim...In that case we can all sit here and say we are biters, because we do 3-d on letters, because at one point we have used arrows, because at one point we have all put a force field on our pieces, a flare, a fade...Is that really exclusive to kats from the 90's? LOL hardly son...if anything we've taken those ideas and flipped them to our style...for example, pointing an arrow somewhere else, fading in a different style...this is what we all do, this is what you do too, but biting is when u have no original imput in your work...and i see originality in yours...so props man...

be hated, be loved, be looked at different, in all that shit will always happen...
