before they were selling all of the colors of the 1x for like 297 here. i wonder what it is now. if it is cheaper than ironlak, ill scoop a quick little 20-30 cans and give it a test. im interested in all the new hacks for a female cap system,. i dont mind the challenge...



every cap ive ever tried using on PT has been like trying to do a fill with a paintball grenade (if you dont get it look up tippman squadbuster). it had mad overspray, not just the normal shit, im talkin a foot of horribly obvious horribleness.


and to szr, the only kind of paint ive ever seen sold in stores around here is rusto, valspar, colorplace, PT, krylon, quick color, and this paint they sell at lowes for .99 cleverly named "spray paint." a couple years ago before i was into graff wal-mart used to sell plasti-kote odds 'n ends, but dont now. i think they do in some hobby store by me my friend grabbed some a year or two ago but its not worth it for two farts of paint.

Ironlak paint is the best. comes with three caps for $7 and it smells like candy instead of poison. great color too.

yo so the new painters touch 2x has a variable pressure valve. bought a bunch of them today and tried them out. once i found the sweet spot in the valve it was all gravy baby.

a little update on my praises of krylon h2o.

so i have had alot of time to use it and compare it to other brands while doing the same wall piece and here is a little updated review on what i think...


ok here goes..

as a 2.50$ can, it is great. here are some negatives i have about it.


PROBLEMS WITH FADES/GRADIENTS: when i use rusto to go over it, like lets say im making a smooth color gradient from yellow to black, and lets say i lay down the yellow first as my fill with krylon h2o...if you arent good at laying down VERY fine mists of paint accurately, you will get these patches of bubbles that settle and then make huge ugly drips. give it a little bit of extra time to dry between fine mists and it goes on great, in fact, almost like a fresh coat of buff to prime the bvlack rusto about to go down before the fade.. when you lay down the black for the fade, and the krylon hasnt dried completely, it will go on, but then slide off as a sheet with the rusto intact on it, leaving this crack and slide effect. if you have ever had the fortune of seeing an avalanche happen, it is somewhat similar to an ice/snow shelf sliding down hill.

solution: go real slow with the krylon h2o between coats. do your fill and all that, then come back for fades. smoke a bowl or something and wait, it will be worth it. once you have added the rusto or whatever for your fade, go back over it with the other fade color and your fade gets SO much smoother. step back and just look at it. you will aggree.




PROBLEMS WITH CAPS: so far the only caps that work with it that i have found that work with it are the caps that come with it (close to a NY fat, but it gets CRAZY thin lines, like half a cm with a fast stroke.), grey dots (VERY nice...) and also the caps from krylon short cuts, which spray like between an orange dot and a rusto fat size dot. (stock cap that is black with a white center)

if you try other caps, it is like tryin to rape a rusto fat into an ironlak can. anything that goes in it after that cap will just leak everywhere.



PROBLEMS WITH AVAILABILITY: i found my initial cans at walmart, in the discount aisle for like 250 a pop and 3$ for the metallics.

have not found ANY since... which is depressing.

COVERAGE IS MEDIOCRE: the coverage is better than krylon or colorplace or valspar, but not as good as rusto or euro paints. lemme put it this way, on an unprimed wall, it does better than rusto (most paints soak into the concrete and disappear), but on a primed wall, it takes like 2 passes to cutback a line on rusto black.

my favorite colors are from the gloss set. the colors i have all match the colors on my screen pretty nicely. one thing i noticed that was very differnt than other cans is that the colors all have different labels that show things painted with that color. which is great in my book. hahaha. i hate keeping the caps with me. i just pop them and toss em.

i dont know if this is happening anywhere else but at my wally world they have put about 15 different colors of the old krylons back on the shelves at 2 bucks a can. the cans were all different colors suck as peach, primer grey, and some of that krylon metallic shit. hopefully this is a sign of the old cans coming back if so they need to keep that 2 bucks a can. lemme know if you notice this too.

the can sprays in whatever direction you hold it. and you dont need to drain any pressure because it is VARIABLE PRESSURE.

just hold down the cap just a tiny bit with a quicker stroke and i can get a half cm line with the STOCK cap

To lower pressure, just put the cans in a ice-filled ice chest. If you're not worried about rust put some salt to lower the overall temperature of the chest. The ice will also lower the melting point of the ice.

Those caps are actually from a really old school company. The same company makes the famous "Niagara" fat caps.

There's 2 or 3 main companies for caps and valves, one of them being in Europe and two of them based here in the US. The caps above are from a third company based in the US that is not as commonly used in the aerosol industry and doesn't have as much of a market share.

Im looking to find rustoleum or Krylon but cant find any ony any uk based sites and aint prepared to pay shipping costs from the states ect.

Ive been using some shit out the car maintenance shop but its running like fuck and there are only so many times im gna get away stealing from there haha :L

Ive found a shop selling monster, sabotaz and montana gold but the expense you.

Likin monster so far but wanting to try krylon on rusto.

dont use krylon, it is guaranteed to be drippier and more watery than that auto stuff you have, and also, you cant change the caps out o n it. so leave that one alone...

as for rustoleum, my friend, thank yiou for seeing the light.

any time you get the chance, always choose rustoleum industrial over regular. it just comes out better.


also if you are looking where to find it, it is rather cheap here in the US 3$ (like 1 and a half pound)

your best bet is to feed someone 30$ and get them to ship you a six pack.

I know you said you looked already so forgive me if you've already exhausted your resources, but don't waste your money shipping paint from over here. 2 reasons, a) Europe has WAY better paint, and there's stores that carry the big names: belton, montana, sabotaz.

b) it'll be a waste of time and money buying from the US and shipping it. For the time wasted and extra cost, you'd be better off buying LEGIT paint that is higher quality, rather than buying only decent US shit. Even Rusto sucks compared to those brands.

I mean i like to use monster but they have belton molotow and they got monster, montana gold and sabotaz 80... i think they got mtn nitro2g as well as a few burners but they are pretty expensive and are under counter so cant exactly get away with a little 5 finger discount ye know ;) :L

But seriously i would love to try the stuff that they used back in the day just to get a feel of how cans ect have evolved... yet again the rusto cans and stuff will have changed since then too i suppose.

I had a yellow can. The paint went on with a one coat coverage and highly opaque.

i finally gave the german Montana Gold a try today after putting it off for years and i must say i was kind of dissapointed. the coverage is almost the same as a walmart in space terms. the paint is said to be odorless but smells like straight up harmful chemicals.
the pros were the pressure and the color was really good and so was the finish. i really liked the finished matte. but the cons out weigh the pros here. i dont think the paint is worth the money ($7 each). i honestly feel sick from the fumes even though i painted over 6 hours ago. spend the money on anything but this its not worth unless youre rich and have money to burn.

the problem i had was the coverage. i used a yellow the other day from that line. unsure what shade, but i shook the fuck out of that cunt, and i still got drips on everything. the rest of the paint was ironlak, and no drips whatsoever. montana is gonna be phased out eventually because ironlak has them on quality and cost. people aren't going to want to pay 7 bucks a can in a recession when ironlak is 5 bucks in person, and even cheaper online.

It's the lowest paint in krylon's lineup, I believe, and, I'd imagine, still uses the old valve system. The paint is as to be expected of a crappier krylon; fairly watery.

I was all about krylon for my oulines for years. But Krylon is not worth shit now. Between the fan spray female tip and how they seem to have made the paint thinner. The new Krylon isnt really worth your time.

take those harbors anyways. i have 3 harbors saved for a rainy day.. i'm sure they would look good on a shelf. stick with it. stops rust is still the best thing out there. you have to mix PTx2 with stops rust.. unless you're rockin' black and whites.

sail blue is still dope, yellow, sunrise red, smoke grey, orange? what i think is by far one of the best oranges out there? antique white?

shit man there's still a ton out there. and i have never found grass green either, although dark purple is nice. doesn't amtch the cap; it's a lot like the dark AA colors in terms of how much lighter the cap/paint is.

anyone tried rusto universal yet? it's $8 around me...
