some more bullshit to deal w/ thanks to ASSama. fuckin guy.
Senator John McCain of Arizona, one of Amtrak's harshest
critics in
Congress, has joined Senator Ernest Hollings of South
Carolina in
introducing legislation that would give Amtrak $1.77 billion
over two years
to improve safety and security.
Section 2 of the Rail Security Act of 2001 would authorize
$515 million for
system-wide Amtrak security upgrades; $998 million for New
York tunnel
"life-safety" projects plus rehabilitation of tunnels in
Baltimore and
Washington; and $254 million to improve emergency
accessibility to New York
City's Penn Station, renovate the Thames and Niantic bridges
in Connecticut,
and continue installation of the ACSES (Advanced Civil Speed
Enforcement
System) in high speed territory.
Other parts of the bill are directed at freight railroads.
Section 3
requires the U. S. DOT to review existing regulations "and
identify
potential revisions to improve rail safety and security."
Section 4 orders the DOT Secretary to "assess the security
risks associated
with rail transportation and develop prioritized
recommendations for
improving the security of rail tunnels, rail bridges, rail
switching areas,
and other areas posing significant rail-related risks to
public safety and
the movement of interstate commerce." This section would
require a report,
due within 180 days, which would include recommendations for
"federal
financial, technological, or research and development
assistance to
railroads to improve security and reduce the likelihood of
crime or
terrorist attacks." :heated:

its funny
there was actually a possibility that amtrak was going to fold.
the government was going to cut of amtrak funding, which it was supposed to do a long time ago, and with all the financial losses and acela not being the hit it was expected/supposed to, things were looking bleak for amtrak. of course when moneys tight you have to trim away at the non-essentials (aka: amtrak graf van squad). but because of the attack's ripple effect, the trickle down is that there is going to be a big push in security and patrols and it is going to make more shit tougher for us.
:(

night vision is one thing...infrared is another...my dad brought an infrared scope home from work...i took it outside and turned it on and looked into the woods behind my house...i could see all sorts of wildlife that i didnt even know was there...pointing it back towards the house i could actually see the body heat from my dad, mom, and assorted appliances inside...shit was wild. my dad was telling me that the particular scope i was using, the MILSCOPE, was a 70,000 dollar unit...the only way to be invisible to IR is glass...IR cant see through glass...

military...he does inventory and works with distribution and purchasing of such devices for various purposes...he didnt really bring them home directly from work when i got to mess with them...he contracted them out to a place that required temporary IR survailance...i went with him to pick them up and he left them at home for about 2 weeks...he claims hes able to check out goggles and scopes when ever he feels like it ...he hasnt yet though...im still waiting to mess around with some more IR or nightvision devices...shit is wicked...
