Has anyone seen the newest issue of "Life Sucks Die" with the Geso and Mber interviews in it???
What do you think of that mag in comparison to other graff mags??
What is you're favorite mag of all time and why??
Huh What !?
12-05-2001, 02:50 AM
nah the last issue ive seen was 7. shit i thought that they called it quiets good to see that they are still around. vapors by the way is my fav. mag even though there has only been one.
I always thought that this little black and white mag OZE gave me long ago was good.It was called "VANDAL"---some kinko's type shit coming from SF i think...I might still have it laying around but I don't know...I've thrown out so much stuff over the last 2 years I'm not to sure what I have anymore...guess I'll have to look for it...

The Geso interview was very good and entertaining.

i thought the fact that mber's entire interview was him dissing the magazine was hilarious. geso's interview had it's moments too. life sucks die is one of the few well done graff mags out there. 90% of the mags out there are utter rubbish. i mean shit, look at mass appeal and while you were sleeping. what the fuck happened there? they think they're fucking GQ or FHM or some shit. i hope and prey the lsd boys do not head down that road.

That issue is so fucking rad! The GESO interview... muahhh :;): But the MBER interview was trash. Like a whole bunch of worthless pillow talk. Everything else in it was sick. All of it!

i thought it was pretty good... i always like it actually, the reading wasnt as good this time as some of the other issues though...
and uh, a little heavy on the msk? yawn.
THE LAW
12-05-2001, 10:55 PM
THE LAW actually likes their taste in the graffiti, so he usually doesn't mind that it's the same people over and over again, and they always manage to get their hands on some NY subs that he's never seen before, which is good. The tag page is great! they need to branch out regionally though. same tired sf hands we've all seen.
HOWEVER, all the articles are fucking garbage. bunch of elitest indie rapper crap so eclectic that everyone reading it can pat themselves on the back for being "down". reminiscent of a shitty maximum rock and roll for people with backpacks.
p.s. THE LAW actually didn't read any of the articles past the first paragraph. things you may have slept on IS a good idea though.
p.p.s THE LAW picked it up in spite of his misgivings, so take it for what it's worth.
THE LAW
12-05-2001, 11:05 PM
as for all time best magazine....hmmmm...THE LAW has always been partial to the BLACK AND WHITE ALL BOMBERS can control....but that's mostly for sentimental reasons.
as for shit that's out now:
-brain damage always puts out a good product. lots of quality trains and some decent articles. they need to drop the hip hop though.
-xplicit grafx is the best train mag out there.
and it's THE LAW's honest opinion that those MASS APPEAL boroughs issues were off the charts. snap em up. bronx and brooklyn were put together REALLY well.
...and to take the cake.
....the dozen ounce. recognize the realness.
THE LAW
12-05-2001, 11:06 PM
the flashbacks all 70's issue is something to snap up too. blazing hot.

Hahahaha. My best-friend showed that to everyone at my work, haha.
Chester, I think the reason why that issue was a little heavy on MSK is because Sever designed those pages.
The Rebel flicks rock.

i actually like lsd a lot. and i hate most graffiti magazines. they do a lot of shit that i hate, but its done in the right proportions, so somehow i'm not bothered by stuff that would normally irritate me. maybe i just have a weird soft spot for lsd.

You are the "crazy man" correct???
mber's interview was just about the mag.........
I'd rather hear about the man behind the steering wheel than
the magazine that I am already reading..........

probably the most entertaining magazine ive ever read all around...although they took my money and wont send my shit....thats right! ...the best was the "things to do on pot" segment in the last issue. i give em my voyote.

heh heh. what better pr than a scary ass interview about who? YOURSELF!
Chester, I think the reason why that issue was a little heavy on MSK is because Sever designed those pages.
yeah i think it said that in the credits. suprised to oze page wasnt all kyt stuff, weird maybe he doesnt like his crew's graffiti.
I always thought that this little black and white mag OZE gave me long ago was good.It was called "VANDAL"---some kinko's type shit coming from SF i think...I might still have it laying around but I don't know...I've thrown out so much stuff over the last 2 years I'm not to sure what I have anymore...guess I'll have to look for it...
yeah i saw this once. IT WAS ALL TAGS! wahoo.
yeah im pretty into the mag. i agree the writing is kinda elitist midwest uppermiddleclass drivel (dribble?), "this stuff is funny because our group of friends with their limited life experience think its funny" stuff gets kinda old seems like big brother with a pinch of mall/butt humor. their reviews of stuff is sometimes enlightening. but i do laugh out loud on occasion. that abstinance thing in particular. i dunno mags are always love and hate for me. so i could contradict myself all night. oh yeah that article about infiltration was HORRIBLE, not tricky referential writing- just crap. anyways...........
oh yeah my favorite magazines ever (that ive seen)
skills (all of them)
the stress with the ghost interview (awesome sketches)
can control (that bombers issue tha blew msk up before they got all twiggy) just because it got me so hyped at a integral point in my writing life power has good taste.
xlr8r (graff article with cool sf bushopper memoirs)
mass appeal queens issue (duel!)
the underground classifieds -dope ny funk!-(i only have #2 anyone know what happened to this b/w thing?)
vapors
that vandal 455 was talking about
ultra (the first one-anyone seen this? dope rare sento flicks awesome layout.)
i dunno... graffiti magazines are so innacurate and articles fade with time so its really a photo album and depends on what flick you want. they really are "periodicals" if that is to mean a time capsule of a certain period of graffiti that you couldnt get your own flicks of. im curious what other people think.

well....lets see. i like certian things about lsd. the dead animals the gay porn im not really into. "things you may have slept on" makes the mag worth buying. the interviews are really not that good, but i think thats their aim, so whatever. pound for pound its alright (shaking my flat hand from side to side), overall its one of the better mags on the market.
big time is another great mag/they usually have som good articles/like the gin & duce article was hot/ being from the east i have only heard of those dudes/reading about them was great.
there arent really any other mags that are good. there all "homeboy" mags. or they all have tons of productions on walls no less that are so fuckin artsy it makes me puke/or there a bunch of fliks that people have mailed in with letters that say please put my fliks in your mag.
mags in general suck now. i love mags but its hard to find a good one with content as well as fliks....and euro mags..i guess you have to like that euro stuff first

I'm with you 100%!! I'm not afraid to admit it at all.........Urban Autograph is absolutely sick and chalk full of everything BUT artsy bullshit ass productions! I remember seeing some of their earlier issues and thinking to myself "What in the fuck is this shit?"
Then one day......after wondering to myself for years when in the fuck am I gonna see a "JABER" interview, sure as shit, one just happens to appear in UA and that made me their number one fan!!
That guy had deserved an interview for the longest time and they gave him good questions and he gave great answers equalling just the perfect mix of interview and pictures......... That issue would be my perfect example of a magazine if I ever had any say in the issue at hand!!!!!!!

yeah i forgot about on the go. i never really thought of it as a graff mag though. the wiriting was awesome, dripping with wit. if the story is true that they only printed stuff sent to them then thats a prety fresh way to get around coverage headaches. send in the flicks or shutup.
and your right onthego did jump start a few careers. guys who were painting for that recognition and finally got it and soon were stuck in it scared to escape the rut that got them attention in the first place, and never changing their style.
we all know that magazines have always been a bro-down type of deal who's cool, who's who's friends etc. so its nothing new. writers that are prolific and talented usually end up being pretty popular to boot, so there coverage isnt too much of a headache. as for the stamp lickers, seing is believing. mags are nothing but pretty pictures.
-jerk182
Whoa...I'm suprised that anyone knew what I was talking about when I mentioned "VANDAL"...dude,that little mag was so budget...I knew OZE before he even moved to Seattle...so when he came to visit he gave me that...yeah,it was mostly tags...black and white..and sort of just "thrown" together...maybe that's why I liked it...

Anyone seen that Nude Celebrity bw issue of LSD? They have made some pretty cool black and white zines. The new issue is great in the typical fashion of LSD. It's the most offensive magazine that I have seen, which I think is their main goal. I would like it more if they left out some of the retarded articles, like the baseball shit or whatever.
Urban Autograff, Big Time, Scribble, 12oz, Ghettoblaster, Knowname, Steel Wheels, Best Foot Forward, and Eat It Up Asshole. Oh fuck I almost forgot Fiz! that magazine from Brazil. That magazine is so good.
