Yeah for the streaks be sure to add some type of oil based paint if you want it to last.
major easy way to melt them is just make a bowl type of thing out of tin foil and put it in the oven (about no more than 250)

Oh yeh I forgot don't be afraid to make too much, i have like 5 silver foil bowls filled with the mixture cooled and when i need to refil i just put on in the oven and melt it all down again.:)

K i know there have been lots of threds on here about making your own markers but what about modifying markers. I got the Jumbo Pilot permanant marker

and its cool and all but is there any ways you have modified it. I could experiment but i would probably fuk it up and that would be the end of it.
I was thinkin it would be cool to put in paint some thinner and a mixing ball but i dont know if that would work well. i thought of getting the gold and silver paints out of the smaller pilot markers and putting them both in the jumbo but the small ones need to be pushed down for the paint to come out and this cant be done on the jumbo.

Magnums suck...the ink is streaky and not all that opaque, the nibs are really hard and you can smell them from a mile away. I suppose you could pull the nib and the stuff inside out, fill it up with your own ink, and put an eraser nib in there. But at that rate why not just make your own marker from scratch. I've been making them out of aluminum blunt containers, its about the same size as a magnum. But at any rate, a magnum is still worlds better then a sharpie king size. Those are the pitts.

The downside is that they're quite messy...:( but a nice alternative are the containers that the krink squeeze mops are in...they hold a little more ink that the oink ones..and aren't as messy...they're shaped kind of irregularly though...

Twist? left or maybe right? if it doesnt work then wrap a rubber band around the neck and twist. it should add more grip. After drip drip your ink and then recap and your set.

The oil based sharpies are really Uni's with sharpie paint in them, right? I got my hands on a red one the other day, the paint kind of came out as this pink/orange depending on how much you shook it. Kinda weird, but I've only been able to find a white Uni so i can't really compare it with the original...Seems weather proof enough, but its already been buffed pretty good in one spot, although its paint so its not really going to stain anyways...

its most likely what you used to thin your paint. Paint thinner takes awhile to soften a plastic body. Acetone will take an hour and your marker is like rubber.

but the colors mix when you right, the colors get on the other nibs,spliting streaks is the best way to get two colors

yeah i gues by not understanding we had a secret bond that you knew i was talking about etch, which i wasn't.

recipes require ingredients, which markers do not have, as is unless you make the plastic body aswell.


and to make this post less pointless, devour made a split marker by sodering a wall down the middle of a junobo 2oz mop and with junobo pink and blue it didnt combine too much.

you should do it with two different based inks, alcohol and oil.
like outdoorsman black with some inside job red split.

take an original marker,racked usualy from walmart and take the ink stci out and put it in rubbing alcohol,oil,and some brake fluid dot 3 drop a mixer in you can put an original nib in from like bingo marker or a plain otr or molotow nibs and shake and go bombin or for more bright color use some rust oleum and melt some wax on the top so it dont leak or just use sealant trape and you got a homemade marker,pz

the higher in the air you air, the less gas pressure is put on the chemicals inside the marker. Think of a balloon in the sky or hiking mt. evrest, the higher the altitude the less oxygen the hiker can breath in. You should be fine.

No matter how permanent your ink is... if someone wants to buff it they will buff it, whether its chemical or just painting over it, go steal yourself some marsh ink and use it... no ink is completely permanent its just a fact, so put your tags up and dont worry about a buff cause no matter what its gonna happen

I actualy made it out of a body paint marker the nip is the chalkboard eraser felt with sum electrical tape around the bottom so it goes into the marker yes it is kind of squeezable but not entirerly I'm working on tht and I tried putting cut up pieces of mit and sock in there but no luck on tht either.

No I took the original nib off b/c the valve restriced the ink flow to much so I ripped the top off and found a piece of rubber tht would fit around the threaded piece then stuck the chalkboard eraser strip into where the nib goes. solid build, I think I jus fucked up the nib maybe. you can't make staining paint. i mean you can, by adding staining ink into paint, but no paint is staining. paint is paint. dot 3 doesn't do much.

you get back what you put in. in other words, you likely won't find anything worth a shit around the house. but you can find stuff around town for cheap or rackable if you're into that that will stain decently well. your best bet is anything that's liquid, has alcohol, is black, blue, red or violet you mix together and try. research your chemicals listed on the bottles and make sure none interact badly together.

and go to the first page of the ink thread and read the chemicals they talk about there, look for stuff that contains that around town. you will find diliuted wanna be versions of it but it will help.

once you've made a decent home made mix, i still suggest buying some oink ink or other staining ink to mix with your stuff, because oink ink, do 'em dirty, garvey, griffin, etc have chemicals in them you can't find over the counter (requires licenses to get) so it's a great way to make your money last (using more of your stuff and some oink/ded to "kick it up a notch" as emeril might say.

go to wal mart and get some of the black felt from the art supply aisle, cut it in strips and roll it up, make sure it's enough to fit comfortably, and remember you have to use an eye dropper to wet the nib so the ink can start flowing out. a better description on the first page of this thread, i think, or searchable.

that store is in canada. if you're not in that store don't worry about it. it's in regina sask, if that means anything to you just go find the store. i can't believe they named it 12 ounce, that takes some balls.

yea the felt sheets from walmart or any crafting place are perfect. i use it to ruberband over kiwi nibs to make them last longer it works alot better than a piece of Tshirt.

its ben said a few times but when your making semi home made inks, and are gathering shit from around town, no matter how small your town is there has to be a shoe repair store, or boot store that will sell nice leather dyes, most stores have lincoln quality witch a i like i have only used black and ox blood. it is thin but makes a great base,and you should never have to pay more than 5 bucks.

hmmm im in a super small town right now, infact it is the meth lab capital of CA! and i found it and fiebings.

i have found it at army surplus stores for boots but they only carrie black.


i alwas just pick up a phone book and look for shoe repiar when ever im in a new town.

If you don't got a boot or shoe repair place look for a leather guy he'll do basic shit with leathers like fixs boots/shoes, cuts/dyes leathers etc... chances are your town has a shoe/boot repair place or a leather guy and if not go to walmart they'll probley have what you're looking for and if not go a town or 2 over.

I just found out the hard way you cannot put ink in a paint marker with out changing the nib

not true. I filled a gold uni marker with my own mix. And i couldnt find a way to get the paint out of the nib. So at first i emptied the marker, then filled it with paint thinner. And just pumped the shit out of it. After awhile, there was still gold in the nib. I just filled up my ink mix and kept pumping it until the ink over came the paint in the nib. But the Mix of ink and slight gold paint made a good mix when i wrote with it. It will take awhile, but you dont have to change the nib.

i know someone is going to call me a toy but if you get the marks-alot jumbo markers that are usually beside the sharpie magnums in the stores you can take the bottom out with a pair of needle nose pliers.....then dump out the thing that comes in the marker.....then cut a circle out of a soft sponge the diameter of the marker and push it flat against the nib inside the marker....then pour in your ink.....if you dont put a sponge in there or at least hot glue the open area around the nib then ink will just pour out of the top of the marker

well i bought a fucking dump truck load of empty markers off bombing science cuz i guess im not experienced enough to use the pump flow ones i rack at the art store......then i started playing with these and found that the plastic markers are pretty easy to alter.....hopefully some people will save some money with this

you can make a marks alot mop pretty easy the way you said it, but change the nib to something less restricting.

im not sure what you are saying about the experience pump flow thing.

i do the same thing but i use rolled and folded sheets of felt for the nib. i posted pics awile back, it turns into a nice mop.

and 1 Monster colors tank type marker with Nero ink:)

i was cleaning out my basement a little bit ago and came across a bunch of large markers from the eighty's like sharpie type markers but for construction. there nothing special but there still cool to use in the book, it makes me feel nostalgic. but they reek to high heavens omg. still good condition for the age. its kinda neat.

IVe had one of those car chalk mops for a while now, probably 3 months. With the same ink and without washing the nib I got about 1000 uses out of it, and I washed it today and it still worked perfectly. homemade ink tho. you can get these anywhere and stuff felt on the top if you dont like the nib.
