I dunno much about Ct and the old scene but the stuff back then seems more fresh and orignal with simples and hot coloring scemes. Today's CT scene is phat but most styles are very similar with western wildstyles. I think thats where most the arguing is taking in. I agree (somewhat) but when you think about it the old schoolers who pushed themselves and advanced are mostly gone from CT or retired, people like Gaze, Emit, Cycle, Veto, Jive, Jaket, Nis, etc. These were people who took fills seriously and who also rounded themselves out with characters, backgrounds, and productions. There is also a gap in time from when these people left or slowed down to when new schoolers came out, and who was there in that period to influence the new school? If we look at our history, graf is traditionally passed down in a master/apprentice type fashion (remember Dez/Trap?) but when the people who pioneered shit are gone who is there left to learn from directly? Who brought up the new school? There are people on here who bitch about newer writers and paying dues who have done nothing to teach people out there now. I don't see them at the wall trying to explain upside down lines, stencil caps, or fills that have meaning and involve more than just a fade or blend. Leave your computer behind and get out there. Other than that, the CT scene lacks unity. Too much bullshit, beef, etc. That's my 2 cents. While the haters are taking aim I welcome any insightful comments from the rest of you. Peace. Piece.

Its a shame more old school ct writers are not willing to share their techniques. I agree there is to much bullshit in the graff scene all together. I never once took it away from the cats that are out there doing their thingnow, there are plenty. One thing I do like about the ct scene today and yesterday, is thaT they are doing something different then what the rest of the world is doing. However I miss the unity and introduction of some hardcore graff of the mid 80's early 90's.

New writers do not know their place, and will blaze over a veterans piece in a second... and you want apprenticeship? some of these new guys should be taught a lesson alright, but it with the bottom of the old schools boot. All these little new jacks need to loose the thug attitude, shut your mouths, show some respect, and then maybe... Maaaaaybe..... they will learn something of their own stylewise, rather than crossing and bad mouthing the writers they copy. Have to disagree here. I can't say anything bad towards Veto, he does have a fresh style, really nice fills, and he does have his own look. I don't think nice fills and 3d style is necessarily innovative though. As for Jas, he tries too hard to be artsy fartsy and unfortunately is more fartsy than artsy. Innovative? :lol: Put one of his pieces next to a Joker piece and tell me he's innovating.

artwork is not meant to be comparitive, sure you can compare letters and see how people differently manipulate form, but to compare joker and jas is like comparing the sound made by a saxaphone and a trumpet--they're two different instruments. the thing is that jas does interesting looking pieces that are different from the generic ny influenced traditional letters that appear and reappear over and over again. he gets props for being different and he does know how to paint...so i thought the above toy comment was pretty lame and read like it was comming from someone who just wanted to get a giggle out of shit talking, not someone who was into style.
