The block remains hot and not just for rappers. Legendary graffiti writer, COPE2, was recently nabbed by the NYPD's graffiti specialists, The Vandal Squad. The capture delighted NYPD brass and rightly so -- seeing as COPE2 has long been at the top of The Vandal Squad's Most Wanted list.

COPE2, perhaps the most prolific artist of our time, was caught in the midst of a "train-bombing" campaign in the Bronx this past April. According to sources, he was in an unspecified Bronx train yard when halfway through the painting session the police raid ensued. COPE2 surrendered to police and allowed himself to be taken into custody.

Authorities are preparing to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law and are even said to have told COPE2 "We're gonna throw the book at you".

According to a fellow graffiti writer and longtime friend who asked to remain anonymous, COPE2 had been under surveillance by the graffiti cops for a long time. However, after the release of COPE's new book entitled "True Legend", the surveillance says the source, "definitely went up". True Legend, which comes signed by COPE2, boasts 272 pages of full color flicks and commentary from COPE2.

True Legend has been getting rave reviews as the best graffiti book thus far, overshadowing other heavyweights like ESPO's The Art Of Getting Over and even a classic like "Spray Can Art".

COPE2 was being held at the Bronx County Tombs but is now out on bail. There's been no word yet as to what he has been officially charged with.

Lots of nonsense said inthis thread. For us europeans is painting a train in NY a dream we al have and we want to succeed. I know what my mission is the next time i visit NY. Been there already to paint, but did walls and crapy freights. Painting freights is like painting a hall of fame in my neigbourhood. Never 100% legal and always a little risk gettin' busted..Meeting NY writers i really did not understand why they weren't interested in those trains. We are........we just want to be part of history.
So next time will take some time to sort things out and paint that steel.
BTW i'm aware that there are local painters who paint but don't show their stuff. Neither do i with stuff done in my counrty. Showing your stuff is for cheap fame painters

fuck if I know. I live in the US and agree with most every word you say. You have to realize that the majority of people with a level head who live here feel the same way you do. its a police state and fear of the government is penetrated into our skulls from day one. in the usa posted your own subs. making a vid or sending flicks to a mag is the perfect way to burn your yards, and get yourself a felony

^these ideas have been outlined a zillion times...i agree mostly, just not about the difference in penalites, most euro spots are fucking rugged on heads, raiding cribs and shit, some times shooting first asking questions later. USA steel is a joke in comparison because we have no 'security'....the real risk is gotting spotted by workers or whatever. but theres no staff of dudes there to guard US clean trains. hence why euro/oz dudes come off so much in nyc...they know how to get shit in traffic in harder yards, so nyc is relatively easy. americans only really think transit is hard because of like misconceptions. theres no yard or layup in america that i can think of that isnt doable, people just are shook, and heads that do paint try to keep those rumours going so that they can hoard their own spots. im not in that state of mind...i really dont care...we release clean photos after like 6 months or so, its not really a big deal. that DAMET whole care (in traffic!!) is really a legendary come up though, dont sleep....its not impossible to get a WC in nyc, but its close to impossible to get it in service and catch it for flicks. that shit gives me chills, 100% respect.

Well I don't know much about New york cleans. I'm not from that country but when me and my boys did it we didn't have any help from the locals, just rode the system. Maybe we hotted up some spot but if a spot is so easy that we can spend two hours in it then I don't see how it's about to become impossible because some euro fags like us did it... Ny is what it's about, end of... we should be grateful its still do-able rather than sitting here bitching...
