threads unsubscribing themselves

why does my list of subscribed threads diminish everytime i look at it... my'subscription has been cancelled' to several threads that i really want to see replies to... why does it unsubscribe u after a while? and can i stop it doing it?

we do that peridically cause we keep getting so many bounce backs from people subscribed with bad email addresses.
