yeah lds is dope, i remember trying to do some shit like that a few years ago when i first ran into that shit on enigma. lots of people in the u.s. have been going that route lately, signiture styles, disgusting clouds, early/ mid 70's replica looking shit. etc. etc. lds was way ahead of the game, before? or around the same time maybe that tie and red/kil etc. decided to get nasty, but they took that shit so much further than anyone was down to take it at the time. much props, respect, etc. to lds.
they seem like the main crew that was doing lots of wholecars, panels etc. on a certain type of uk train from looking at enigma issues, i know some are harder than others out there, are they doing the more hectic ones?

they remind me of a2m in a way. I dont want to dis on those fellas because they are really good artists, but they all have a style that looks like shit. I know they can paint because I have seen some really good shit, but it seems like they are trying to make their stuff look like crap. I guess it's a style thing. In all honesty I think this stuff looks like crap, what exactly are they trying to prove? If they want it to look weird and artsy, then they need to realize that there is a line between that and crap, and they seem to have stumbled onto the crap side of the line.

Pieces very rarely run on the London Underground and if they do its only for a few hours. I've noticed the train companies over here will tend to buff burners and run wack shit. That may be the thinking behind LDS, just doing it to take the piss! Anyway some of these boys were doing "proper" tubes a long, long time ago...

This sounds like a typical neanderthal American response... you're a world away from these time constrictions, let alone making it through razor fences, motion sensor trips, dogs, cameras, helicopters, crawling through a mile of shit in some tunnel a mile below the city... Just to have maybe 10 mins in the yard for them to probably never even run it. You're probably to busy painting some freight with interlocking arows and all that boring shit that takes all the humour and fun out of graffiti that only ever passes from nowhere to nowhere for a load of redneck farmers to ignore. The London tubes if they do run, run through central stations where fat American tourists suddenly drop there McDonalds, thousands of businessmen waiting on the platfrom get all confused and don't know if they should even get on the metro which is something you'll never experience.. Now this ain't to say these are the styles that I'd drop on a tube but I ain't gonna sit behind my computer bitchin' about 'em... im not suprised people hate this shit, but i love it, and think they were way ahead of their time. lots of u.s. writers have jocked their shit whether they know it or not, 2nd, 3rd hand maybe....but it came from these guys (maybe a european guy could even pull out an earlier crew the influenced these dudes?). "good" writers everyone looks up to have incorporated shit into their pieces that was forgotten untill these guys brought it back out. how can you not like it, its so funny, you guys take shit too seriously.

i'm pretty certain the trains they're painting are a no picnic. i remember hearing crazy ass chase stories from years ago. they rock them hard, big, lots from what i've seen in pictures, maybe they just let out their flix more than others in england, but they definately seem like they've been on point for lots of years, steadily on that same type of shit. so i can only assume that they definately know what they're doing, and do it for a reason. i could be wrong, i dont know them.

I don't know where this misconception has come from that the whole of Europe is like a walk in the park... certain poor countries in Eastern europe perhaps, but from accounts of people who've painted both the London Underground is as hard if not harder to paint than the NY subway and is certainly the toughest in Europe... If Europe is so easy then why is it that Americans who come over here usually manage to get very little done even though a lot seem to pay Europe a visit? Sure they get a few street hits; some throwups and tags but apart from maybe Reas and Grey I've seen very little train action from Americans in Europe and correct me if I'm wrong but I can't think of any Americans hitting any subways for a very long time..

I'm not saying i'd rather see LDs than a DDS windows down but at the end of the day its all about fun and to be honest who cares if no one likes those tube hits....its not like they will be running for very long is it? (probably about the time it takes to get to the buff after rush hour).

Respect to LDS, not for the styles as I think it is awful, but there is a Revs interview somewhere in which he goes on about too many writers being too insecure and caring about what everyone thinks too much. In the interview he says fuck what others think, do whatever you want. Because while everyone is at home talking about them and their wierd styles, they have got panels running on the subway. They were doing wholecars on the subway when everyone was saying it was impossible to do panels. When yards started gewtting even hotter they went to do panels on the backjump, which only a very few people were doing. They have been having runners for years on the subway and they really don't care what you all think. Infact the "revival" on the tubes in London is directly down to them (whatever everyone might think).
Viva LDS.

I find it disheartening reading through this board when it comes to European graff, or really just any Non US graff. Most people within Europe have untold respect for the American scene (especially New York) as yes as we all know, they started this whole thing. However after 30ish years of painting plenty of Yanks still seem to think we “owe” you respect or that your way of doing things is “better” than Europe.
What seems odd is that many of the original writers (From my admittedly limited knowledge of early NYC graff) seem to have embraced European graff in a major way! (Look at some of Seens recent stuff). In many ways European Graff has over taken much of its American Counterparts, whilst you were having your wars in the early to mid 80’s the Germans and French were taking graff to whole new levels. People like Delta, Daim and Loomit were producing styles that really hadn’t been tried before, that was over 10 years ago, now I look in a States mag and its full of pale 3D imitations and loomit inspired styles!
In the end we have respect for the States where’s there are many of you who seem to insult other countries out of hand (Amusing as there are probably a fair proportion of you that have been painting FAR less time than many of the UK writers on this forum!
As to the states of Yards in the UK, like others have said here the yards are considered by many as harder than NYC metros, but ours still get smacked on the regular (by people like Mace, Noir, LDS, Moas, Nifty etc) where as I see very few flicks of Metros (although for all I know it could be done, and I just don’t get to see the flicks! Who knows!)?
Any way as a new bod im not trying to start beef, I just find it quite amusing that we are often seen as the “poor relations” of the states! Just cause our Prime Minister licks Bush’s arse, doesn’t mean writers feel the same way!
PS I don’t like LDS style as well, but they are doing it, and it is something different, which deserves props for having the balls to go out and prepared to get them selves ridiculed!

What you want to say is some Ameriacn guys managed alone to do Subway hits in Europe? I don't know how is your situations... but i know well how is going in Europe systems...and i honestly doubt about this.
Not as a proof, but i'd like to see those panels you got... subwaynet@graffiti.net

I have to say that you put me in my place. You are right, the majority of Americans that paint trains in Europe were brought by locals.
But if the American were to stay for a longer amount of time it would end up that he is going out painting with his freinds. There is nothing wrong with that.

Of course, i didn't say it's wrong...as you're stranger is normal someone guide you, as i think it wouldn't be easy to do it without the right knowledge about spots and all those moafuccka guards...
I just wrote cause it seemed me you would say that those americans you talk about can manage theirself a subway hit in Europe...in opposition with chilling and trowupping the city (that is good the same...)
...can i have those flix you talk about?

Who has ever heard of the ARMORY SHOW (1913) NYC.
This was the first time European art reached the U.S. Cubist, expressionist, impressionist, dada, fauvist all of that came to the us for the first time bringing to light the illy illy styles of Cezanne, Duchamp, De Chirico, Picasso, etc...mad amounts of talent that had exisited in europe for DECADES without any play in the US. What do you think happend??? Stubborn, closed minded american art critics, even the presidnet tore the shit apart and said they wished it never made it over seas. The funny thing is that within a year the art had significantly influenced ALL american artists at the time, and continued to do so into the future. So keep hating and go look at the same Ges and Kem pieces that you see everywhere.

i think that’s the point....its about deconstruction, when is graff not graff...personally im not down with the idea that graff is art, not the hardcore side anyways...i doubt most kids who go out bombing are thinking about anything more than getting up…there not trying to place there work in a historical or theoretical context they are just trying rebel, trying to get noticed, and more power to the out of that comes some serious creativity and beauty…..graff is definitely a creative process and it is artistic but is it art? Perhaps its more akin to the applied arts, graphic design et all….i think lds specifically are akin to most of the modern art created during the early part of the 2oth..they are self aware…instead of producing crisp wildstyles (of which if the rumors are true they are more than capable of) they put as much as much effort into breaking town the key constituencies of graffiti and re applying them…..or maybe im chatting shit..

I sense alot of aggresion in your tone "Snake" (very menacing name by the way).. Why not post some of your Chicago Subways then??? though I bet the nearest you've got to subway action is when you walked within 50 metres of a yard and you wet yourself........ I'd love to see Chicago Subway action but the only flix I've ever seen in recent years were two panels by a couple of French writers... interesting.

when i first saw this page i didn't know exactly what i was looking at...but once i got it it was great...i feel sorry for all the people completely hating on this because i feel they don't understand an important concept of graff, and that is that everything is a product of it's enviornment and only really relevant to it's place. so many of the kids in america can't understand why anyone would do pieces like this...well no shit you're not living in london. It's the same reason why euro kids don't understand why we go out and paint freight trains that we may never see again. Every scene is derived from it's location, the people that write there as well as the people that don't, all of these are factors which contribute to make graff what it is...and in every city in the world graff is different which is what makes it so amazing. i also find it quite striking that this work is quite similar to the 'bad painting' movement of the early seventies led by philip guston. Onee question i have is why the writers are still using good paint and nice caps, wouldn't it be even better to use some cheap ass paint and stock caps? but then again maybe i just don't get it.

Seeing as just about all the photos were posted by me and L12 I assume this is aimed at us. If you want to see our "bias" corrected, do what Europe suggests and post some pictures to correct the situation rather post moaning about it.

Sorry to be so critcal, but most of these things are terrible. It looks like a 5-year old did this shit. Don't get me wrong it's kinda cool to look at, but there could be so many better things that could eb painted on a subway car. But then again I don't have any clean trains running in europe...or anywhere. So props for the work, but alot of that shit is just too weird. Technically it's graff because it's spray painted on a train...but not stylewise, this shit is beyond lacking. These two above me are much better than anything on here. But hey'KOOL' is kinda dope.

What They Don't Want You to Know
In order to understand graffiti you need to realize that everything is controlled by a crew called LDS made up of graffiti writers with help from aliens.
The conspiracy first started during the great district line wholecar mission of 1890 in the ******* yard. They have been responsible for many events throughout history, including the great cental line shut down of 2003.
Today, members of the conspiracy are everywhere. They can be identified by their wack panels.
They want to beat down the british trasport police graffiti squad and imprison resisters in uranus using powerful alien weaponry constructed from cheese and onion crisp packets.
In order to prepare for this, we all must cover ourselves in tinfoil to protect ourselves from harmful alien radiation when we go to yards. Since the media is controlled by the evil lord skeletor we should get our information from the BTP.
