"He also gave me quite an insight into not only the more robust steps being introduced in the way patrolling of the sites will be done but also details of some of the technological systems that are being put in place. I’m not going to go into details here, just in case any of the more ‘antisocial elements’ are browsing this page but, suffice it to say if you’re contemplating the idea of taking up graffitying London Underground property I’d suggest you think again"

Tim O'toole? that's a fucking joke surely
MONKEY MAGIC
06-10-2004, 07:09 PM
hahaha look how how much time n money they puttin towards a reach that takes the artist a few seconds to do...
from thousands of pounds to billions of pounds the price of removing graffiti seems to of gone up in months, how strange...
especially as graffiti is the most minor of problems on the london underground, on they site they got a whole section just for muck ups (i.e delays) , they could be puttin their cash towards actually improving the service in a way that most of the public giv a fuck about. . .
and dont get me started bout crime watch n 5-0, fink of the amount of stories about old grannies gettin robbed we r missin to here some guy talk about some one writing on something...
graff is everywhere comercialy anyway - adverts, drink cans - they say it makes people feel insecure, but I have never run away from a can of coke cos its got some writing on it!
Even the fukin "Name That Tag" poster is using graff!!
Fuck the government!
Fuck the g rats callin up crime watch!

nah man, gap is old school cockney rhyming slang for murderers (gap filler = killer), and was more specifically for this gang who used to go round on tubes and buses in london looking for victims, particularly stupid ones... if someone noticed some badass scoping out a stupid looking person like they wanted to kill them they would shout "mind the gap" and everyone would get off as soon as possible. Note the particular significance that the victims would always be thick cunts though...

It maybe a little slow on pictures, but there isn't really any point on posting pictures that are a few pages back again. It isn't like we missed them the first time. If the thread is slowing down, let it slow down. When there are new pictures to post they will get here.
I know you mean well, but as I say it is a little pointless posting pictures that have already been posted.

The reason no one is seeing anything running is because nothing does run- simple as. The yards are still being hurt by a few but in the yard is where the pieces will remain cos they're cracking down hard. Only backjumps will run but they're just an easy option and to be honest not all that.
Spotted sitting in an infamous little met yard the other day: Pies, 2Kold, Dr. D, Relik, Fact and Izit pieces.

Not trying to be funny or anything, but i thought one of the reasons writers do what they do is to get a certain level of 'fame'? To one extent its understandable for people to not want their photo's to be stolen/copied from a site...... but going by the amount of trains they actually run these days with anything on, I think it would be a nice thing if people actually put a photo or 2 out there. If you look at what a lot of writers say about people not doing trains and not doing this or that, they are usually the ones who have this almost snobbish attitude 'your not seeing this that/cheap fame blah blah blah'.

fukin hell....just cause some people dont want to have their flix all over the net it's become a major deal!
If it was bak in the day and trains ran then Im sure those people woudnt mind if people saw their shit......but now any graff that is half descent is so hard to do on the underground....it's a fuking mish.
so people must be like well fuk it I half killed myself doing this piece and it didnt even run...this flik is precious to me so Im gonna hord it like a yard troll.
It's like information is power these days...I mean if I got 20 unseen train fliks (quality) ....in 20 years I can make my own mag or book or whatever and people will want to see it.
Fuk me this society is like gimme, gimmee, all now, now ,now! fuking people dont know how to wait and savour something and take time to contemplate the whole story....what happened to the magic and mystery...Yard masters who controlled their own yards and toys had to pay in paint and weed just to keep dog and learn how to do a badboy piece at the same time.
I know shit has changed but people dont resist the change when they should....its like they see that no trains run and they think 'oh well thats that...when they could think....pop a window in all the other trains or write kill the queen on all the other trains and bingo the train is running all day!
I never see writers on the line ...ever... exept flix FV. People need to stop hiding and start acting like the Rebel scum were meant to be...
Organise and shit.

The old 'why do people hold down flicks?' argument springs up yet again...
...like DaDecorators said, some flicks are too precious and have too much sentimental value to be plastered all over the net and are only shared between close friends and acquaintances...just accept it and move on. Simple.

What a waste of taxpayers money.
I wonder how much it costs for forensically testing a jacket?
How do they calculate £250k worth of damage?
The "impact to peoples' well being" seems pretty limited. A few damaged jackets and some "general irritation". I've also always been very sceptical of the effect that they claim graffiti has on a commuter's perception of their safety.
They are trying to legitimise spending immense resources on catching petty vandals, by claiming that they have the consensus of the general public to do so. In actual fact, it seems to me that they are trying to save LU money - full stop.
I'm going to find out how much it costs to advertise on those little posters on the insides of tubes. Maybe then we can all have legal insides running for months on end!

best part of that article was hearing the new tactics of the Forces of Antigraff...
some thoughts on how to totally confound their attempts...
- Chemical tests to match up pens or paint? Simply keep swapping supplies with everyone you know...
- Handwriting analysis? Have your whole crew do pieces in each other's names, and when you go on a mission with someone, switch up the names and styles.
Which is excellent practice for the event that someone does get taken into custody, while they're in the slammer the crew does a little attack right on the police station.... utterly ruins their attempts to connect "every instance of this tag" to anyone.
hard for them to outmaneouvre when they are forced to tell the enemy their playbook!
bottom line, agreeing mostly with DaDecorators, is folks gotta find out what the buffers miss, and concentrate on that... find out what makes trains run and do it (i do rathre fancy the all-the-other-trains'-window technique)...
to get things running, to keep from being buffed today, you have to be either crazy bold, or terribly subtle. both have their advantages.
Guilt Ridden

The last word on not releasing flicks from me...
...sometimes you may go out on a yard mission and have things on your mind, stress, depression, happiness, whatever...and you will often associate the piece you paint that night with what you were thinking (well I sometimes do anyway) and, therefore, the piece has a particular personal significance that no one else may understand. Because of this, I've held down several things and will probably never release them because they mean a lot to me and I don't want to share them.
I don't know how true this is for other writers, but that's one of my reasons...
...it's not a thing of thinking I'm hardcore, keeping on the DL or any of that nonsense. I just don't want everyone seeing my flicks...I think most of them are a pile of crap anyway (as anyone who's been out with me will know!!).

sorry to hurt your feelings, but perhaps it isnt the writers youre getting stressed about, rather where your born son, youre the wrong side of the pond!!!you lot had your tube shit because you got all the lines out your back door, but now thats on the back burner you can just sit back on your ass and enjoy the runners all the south lot are pulling out on the BR's, graff works in a circle, dont worry ive been thru the tube shit, and the sun will shine on the north in about.........erm..........5 years, happy roof top hunting;)
*as buzzing as i was, i think its about time graff spread out into the areas that werent being hit when the tubes were running, now its about all the tracksides, all good impressing the next writer with the trains, but youre having no feelings for the commuters, fuck it have over the local asda van if need be, but do something, no matter what anyone says this is a dry period for the tubes, but lightning does strike twice!!!!!

I still enjoy riding the lines and I do on a regular basis... but i never seem to bump into anyone though either, except for the occasional kid with a paintpen towards uxbridge! but like the guy above said.... the tube scene seems to come and go every few years, not that im saying nothing is getting done..... but its not like there is a huge amount of pieces running at any one time, so maybe the people just arnt bothering to go out there..... or maybe even the mentality is diffrent in younger writers - they are only intrested on whats on their doorstep???. You used to have your spots where you were almost guaranteed to bump into writers...like edgware road but these days it dont tend to happen....
Definatly something to do with the btp stepping up their war on writers these days though, who remembers the last time the graffiti squad went mad....about 93, and a lot of people stopped writing - what happened?...well the btp thought they had won, they dissolved the graffiti squad and the writers came out of hibernation with a vengance... could history repeat itself?

Nah man, there's still a few heads out there doing the do...just the policy of Metronet is to buff trains as soon as anything is spotted, even if it means pulling it out of service.
But, yard security has been stepped up something rotten and certain places that used to be a walk over are now looking kinda ominous...New cameras, mobile sensors..rah! In the space of a year it's been tightened up quite a bit, but ..there's always the hardcore few that still get over. ...

If there was a meeting....imagine....there could be a small park taken over somewhere....all different crews together.....the beef would be allowed for that day.....
we could get some elder day wiselings down to give it some magic....and then instead of people all trying to speak at once we could have certain crew members, 1 from every crew speak to someone seperatley like uncle Pauly in good fellas.....so that way if there is any grasses about no one will know who's gonna do what and when....
see crews that are near each other and come from the same areas could arange things between themselves...to smak yards simultaneously or cause distractions and then hit a yard in a next place.....
But the truth of the matter is that until graff becoms really dificult to do anywhere people wont unite cause they wont think that they need to.
the type of stuff were talking about is proper organisation to take it to a next level...but I aint going into that on the net...cause ....well u all know why.

 anyway there are too many grasses like you out there for anyone to have a meeting as big as that for hot shit. get back on your keyboard and look up some porn.

im from australia soon to be in london was just wondering what do you guys get if u get done doing the tube i know ill just get deported :o
whats the punnishment for them?
Well i was once told...
When they catch you in the yard the trackies hold your hands against the rail and proceed to break your fingers one by one with their oversized spanners and boots, they call you nasty names and then get their illiterate mates to sit on you until the met van turn up.
After expressing their pented up hatred for all vandals, by saying things like, "Do that in ya mums house would ya, ya little cunt?", shortly followed by a dramatic arrest complete with t.v crews and BBC News 24..and some luxury stainless steel police issue cuffs. Usually after an arrest, and many hours in a cell, officer BTP will turn up with an apprentice, and say through the door in your cell "ello mate, were Btp, we'll be taking ownership of you're ass from here"... or something similar. Then they say, "right so your an Ozzy are ya, ha ha ha ha?" "Home an Away an all that eh? Ha Ha" (belly laugh). Then they interview you in a padded room and shine white light on your face and give you the stern raised eyebrow look and wait for you to sweat profusley... They then remind you that your mate has already grassed you up, so there's not much point in saying "no comment" repeatedly and the fact that you are a 'bloody foriegner aint doin you no favours' ,so then you spill the bucket of bbq beans, give in and tell them the names and addresses of all the writrs you know.. They ask about some other group of Ozzy's that have been in London and show you lots of photos, most of which you'd never seen, but would love to take home.. You are then issued with a Homer Simpson chemical plant uniform made from white paper complete with hood (gangster) and given some complimentary comfy plimsols made in Taiwan..
Then they raid your address of residence, take all your belongings, your woman, and bail you for two years. After your court date you'll be sent straight to Belmarsh where you will be incarcerated for 23hrs a day with a self styled Chopper type fella, then moved to Aberdeen for the rest of your stretch where you'll be incarcerated with a self styled Scottish version of Ian Huntley, and when your released they'll give you an all expenses paid one way ticket with Air Quantas to deepest Woga Woga where you'll will become a recluse and live a long, sheltered life as a self styled Laurence Lleweyln-Bowen charecter, constantly redecorating the shack where that you made from silly string and rich tea buscuits and hemp leaves, obsessively make plans for your sequal of the London tube tour 2004.
In a nutshell, If your a foreigner, then see above, obviously if you're a UK resident then you get sent on all expenses 6 week holiday to Spain to a Villa, to 'think' about your crime. True rehabilitation.
Anyway, welcome and good luck!:)

On point indeed... but i must add...
....then when your bail is up just after your 18th birthday they will take you to big boys court...and turn it into some OJay Simpson type affair... Again with BBC News 24 bringing us up to date coverage.

Holiday graffiti vandal faces jail
One of two teenagers who admitted causing £1,000 worth of graffiti damage to Tube
trains faces jail on his return from a holiday in Spain.
Horseferry Road Court District Judge Nicholas Evans hinted
that Jay Herbert who has a record of graffiti damage with his tag ‘SODA’, may face prison
on his return.
‘He obviously wants to go to Feltham (Young Offenders’ Institution), not Majorca,’ said
Judge Evans.
Herbert, 19 of Pinner, Middlesex admitted causing £288 damage to a train at
Baker Street Tube station and £400 worth of damage to another train at Pinner station on March 26.
His friend, James Hayward, 18 of , Pinner admitted causing £576 worth of
damage also at Pinner station on the same date.
The court heard police were called to the Metropolitan line platform at Baker Street
following a complaint and arrested both youths. Herbert was found to have purple stains on his clothes and rucksack.
His home was searched that evening and a large amount of graffiti paraphenalia was found
in his bedroom including 29 cans of spray paint, eleven bottles of paint, two marker pens
and scraps of paper showing his graffiti tag.
Judge Evans noted that Herbert had received a police caution and a criminal conviction for
graffiti damage in the past.
Both youths were bailed until after their Spanish holiday to appear for sentencing on July
12.
