i like the first one....it reminds me of sumthin i did before .the second looks too bunched together, i would suggest you use a thinner tipped marker/pen. but its all good.

I do nuff simples every day, but I'm not gonna waste my time and post them. I did those sketches pretty fast, I was just fucking around with different styles. The second one is done with a thick marker on that shitty yellow paper, shows how much time and effort was put in.

I've posted other shit on here that I took more time on, I'll repost it if you really wanna see it.

sir, i am saddened that you would take my consructive critisism as an offence. it shows an insecurity that a lot of beginners have...i know this because i had it when i started...so i trust you will learn to crush this insecurity over time.

as for you calling your work, your "art", well...yes it is your art, but can you explain to me what your art means? can your back up your "artwork" with words? can you explain it to me? do you do any other forms of art seriously? these questions are not to shit your pants here, sir, but i'm just making sure you are aware of something.... when a lot of kids start doing the graffiti thing, they have a marvelous time doing their sketches. they come across the fact that graffit is art and they just shit their pants for decades about it. they call their sketches their art and just go mental and try to play it off like they are serious art kids. well, graffiti is not a serious art form unless there is words to back it up. graffiti is very popular, so it gets blindly emulated by millions and they go through their times not ever knowing why they do graffiti...or what their pieces mean to them....or what their letters mean to them...why they did this...why their style is the way it is.

so i am making sure you are aware that although this IS your "art", i want to make sure that you know exactly what you are saying. everything is an art, but to say that something is YOUR ART, you need to be able to back it up and prove why it is YOUR ART.

when i started graff, i blindly plopped into the culture. didnt know anything about anything. i loved how graffiti looked and that was it. so i tried to draw it so i can look at it more. i didnt start considering my graffiti art until my 4th year of it started..which makes me a serious art kid for 2 years. since my realization of art, i have focused more on doing other non graffiti related creations, and now it is a daily thing for me. i am serious with my art and i know why i do everytihng i do.

so make sure you know where you stand. if you blindly plopped into graffiti, thats cool man. its VERY VERY common. stick with it. dont try to make too much sence of your work until a couple of years go by, i'd say. its all a smile time.

as for thid battle thing...well, if you wish to battle, hahahha, then i shall. battles are, i think, very stupid, but i think this situation would be fun for both sides.

Isn't costructive critisism. You basically told me to stop drawing what I enjoy drawing and to draw something that may be more pleasing to your eye. But whatever. I just thought that if you were were going to critisize my work to that degree then you must be much more skilled than myself. So I wanted to put you to the test, a FRIENDLY battle. I will admit that I dont paint much, which is largely due to financial burdens. I'm 18 and I've been sketching for three years, started painting two years ago. I could back up my work with words but that will only describe what is allready there, and it will be a waste of time. Why is it MY art? Because I enjoyed drawing it, and there is no better answer than that. I'm not trying to 'express myself', thats bullshit. I'm merely enjoying creation. And like a battle would solve anything, I'm not trying to beat you, I'm only looking for a challenge. I could care less who wins.

I didn't drop into the culture entirely blindly, I had a few friends that write and I learned a lot from them (Ceil & Trik). I've always admired graff but didn't really start sketching until I started hanging out with Ceil a lot. I'm in Toronto, where you at? And how old are you?

If you still wanna battle (for fun) I'm down, but it will take me a little while to get some paint (broke ass).

i only suggested you draw simpler things for your own benefit. the "simples" you posted were definetly not simple. they were messes od 3d things. in an artistic light, they look very nice, but in terms of graffit and letter structure, i feel they are lacking...and they sure are not simple. from what i have discovered and what i have heard for years is that starting with simple dead letters eventually leads to the evolution of more complex lettering. a lot of people are quick to jump to crazy wild stuff, and i dont blame them....it would be great to draw such things with ease out of no where, but it just doesnt happen that way (unless you have some phenomonal(sp?) gift for letter creation givin at birth). when i started, i tried drawing wild shit as well. it was so fun and i thought i was an A+ kid, but ha, definetly not.

what i'm trying to do here is point you in the direction of bettter letter formation. i see a lot of kids posting sketches that look fucking incredible, but when you looks at the letters...its like...ugh. i feel that the formation of letters gets drowned out sometimes in graffiti and colors and cool little effects get all the attention. either way it is cool, but i think letter formation is the most important thing in graffiti...but maybe that just differs with everyone.

this battle thing will be purely fun. i'm not out to CONQUER EVERYONES FACE, i just think it would be fun...plus...it would be nice to paint again. its been a while and i dont mind saying it. a lot of graffiti kids are like "YOU NEVER FUCKING PAINT YOU MOTHER FUCKING TOY ASS BITCH WORD$$$", but i dont see what the fuck that is all about. i painted hard for a good 2 years i beleive and now im just keeping it cool and focusing on other creative outlets...although i'm getting back into the swing of things now...which is why i am spotted in other places other than channel zero on this board now.

if someone doesnt paint every week, i dont see what the big god dam deal is. i do the graffiti thing for fun. a lot of the times i dont even throw up the word "makros". sometimes i just toss up other stupid words. i just enjoy the act of graffiti and the artform of it. it is so fun to do, what can i say....but i have other things in my life that are just as fun...if not funner. so yes...this little battle is good motivation to get me out and painting again. so i am down like a barbarian on rollerskates, son. just gotta purchase some caps...but i'll do it all in stocks if i have to. stocks make things look all messy and raw...i like that.

my age is a mystery, sorry, thats just something i keep hidden from everyone on this board. i am usually around the boston area. like i think i said, i started graffiti about 4 or 5 years ago...and started painting 2 years ago. i have taken an incredibly huge break from it all though...which is interesting. whether you are aware of it or not, what you draw symbolizes something about you...so it is an expression of you. i was just interested in how much you are into art forms and to see if you are, indeed, serious with your "art". a lot of graffiti kids toss around the ART word and dont know what the hell they are talking about...they just want to seem like they are gifted and in depth...shit i used to do it back in the day. ha ha ha.

this battle should be nice and smile envoking. we can dance around popsicle sticks with severed dinosaur tails taped to our arms. we can do this. i'm not out to beat you...like i said...i just want motivation to go out and do things.

i think the dust sketches were the best there. you had some nice letters coming through, but they had some incorrect proportions. the fills kinda make them look confusing and unreadable.

the head you drew is really awesome. that looks very nice.

that myco sketch at the bottom looks like a gigantic mess of brutalized zebras with mushrooms growing on their rotting bodies. the dust stuf was going in the right direction, i think.

I did those first three dust ones in pen without using pencil at all. I was in class and all I had were pens. That's why the S is fucked in the first and second one.

I agree with the myco looking like decaying zebra, but I liked the mushrooms in that one.
