for real. the problem with kids nowadays though is that people at times purposely bite names they get off of the internet or mags. its good to start somewhere, but at the same time people have the wrong thought process of how to get into certain things. people always bite....its a stepping stone process. its a little different for people who have been biting for years than with people who bite something because its a style they can relate to to make their own. for example, revok was busting a simple letter format bombs before he took his graff to los angeles. now if you look at his stuff, hes surpassed those that inspired him.

i came to hawaii with a straight up cali style..when i came down here i painted with DIS and it was cool as fuck..these guys were good...then i started painting with some guys from DE crew..I left hawaii and bumped that hawaiian style i recycled with my original cali style and killed a couple of spots..when i went back to the bay i kicked back with my homies and they were bustin a style that i learned from peeps in hawaii. techniques and shit... i picked up on my homies style, but decided to keep it more hawaiian than GL style...now people down here are tryin to bust that GL style, but what they dont know its just what i've been sayin along with GECES for a long time..make your piece look like your tag. you dont know how much i see people biting or wanting to bit that GL style, but im sayin..keep it original. a lot of people say they are getting thier style off of me, but when you really look at it, its my homie tyboe's style...they just bit off of this person thats biting off of this person....thats why im doing other thangs. and as much as some ask me to go back to the GL style..i wont.. i'll just let them look like biters..

grey meant that all the variations of letters, connections, extensions, doo-dads, etc ... were done by '81. Look at Subway Art, watch the Tracy168 video... it may not be as clean and well executed as fools do it today, but the elements were all there. A lot of different shit has come since then, but most of them are not solid letters. there's only so much you can do to a letter until it's not that letter anymore.

Look at graff over the last 15 years, every trend that comes around getting weirder and funkier from standard letters, always dies off and everyone returns back to solid NY based graff. just look at what Sever and Rime are doing for the last 3 or 4 months. around the country Erupto, Diet, Poser, Lead, Next, etc...even those legal/freight 3A guys are returning back to basic latters. the stuff that revok's been doing in the last 3 months looks more like NY style than that LA style he pioneered less than 5 years ago...

so yes, any SOLID style is based on everything done before 81. the exception are people like ernie, daim, or joker. my two cents.
