The first photo is great..

as for trading prints, i think thats a pretty good idea instead of everyone sending shit individually and causing pony express mayhem.
so we all should agree on a date and how many prints and what not.
i'll volunteer to be the middle man if yall like.

let me know what you slags think.

What needs to happen is that everyone who wants to trade needs to say so, and then that number will be the number of prints everyone will send to jbrshmonster. My question is whether or not each person will want to make multiples of one print, or maybe a few different ones. So anyone who wants to say so NOW and a list will be compiled of all who want to participate, then each person should pm/email (contact) Jbrsh with thier address, and then he will send his address to each person so that they can send hikm thier prints.

I hope thats comprehendable. Ooo yay I'm excited for this.

Tony--nice dog shot. Have you tried a tighter crop to get rid of the grass and edge of the walkway? I think it would benefit from that.

Lets keep this going. I am ridiculously frustrated right now. I hate my fucking point and shoot peice of shit. It is impossible to manually focus unles I want to wait 2 hours for the focus bar to piddle accross the screen at .0009 miles per hour, and there's a zoomed in version for the manual focus that I don't want to see. I would rather see the actual full frame, but this stupid feature is preventing me from doing that. Aperture and exposure are annoying to adjust. I just want a dslr so I can change this shit on the fly. Anyway, it took like 20 minutes to get these two terrible photos.

Yea I thought about it but its not there image so i just kinda laid off it ... i wasnt thinking of the image i was thinking of the idea and the exicution.. but the brochure i might be able to send ..

Hahaha understandable...I get freaked out in those buildings. ESPECIALLY Being on higher floors. There are holes in part of them and I am always picturing what would happen if the floor collapsed. All of that debris..glass and such. I'm glad you like it though.

Dailycrunch: THis is how the print trade goin down:
So with the print trade it might be cool if everyone who wants to participate sends copies of a photo or two and then recieves on photo back from each person who sent in thier photos. If we did this, one person would have to be the person who got everything and sent everything. I think that might be a cool way for everyone to get a lot different prints from this thread.

I'm not, but I have done so much research on dslrs its ridiculous. 300d's are good, but for just barely any more cash, especially if you find a good deal/used, you can get some extra features by getting the 350d, or rebel xt. Its just the upgrade. Both are really good entry level dslrs.

Venice is so fucking beautiful. Once you get off the main streets it's like this maze of alleyways that always lead to somthing amazing. I love the hanging laundry too, makes for great pictures.
I'll find some of my pics from venice and post them later.

yeah i definately agree. it could take you 15 minutes to realize your in a dead end.... its awesome there. i have a lot more venice pictures on the way, once i finish these rome ones (and get more of my film done)

Most of our films are actually delivered to our main office, which happens to be only a few blocks from our main movie house.

They don't often deliver to the theaters, becuase we are not open during most of the day, i.e. 9a-2p.
The office is always open 9-5, so we have to drive there and pick them up.

Sucks.

I hate lugging eighty pound films around.

personally, on the photo of the girl, i think i should clone stamp out the zit on her nose and soften it up a bit.

that seems to be the way to go with portraits these days of girls these days

not that the zit bothers me much, i love her and think she is beautiful.

Ride a bike, jrbsh, everybody good flicks, especially dosoner, I like that fence one a lot, and the others. Stagnant water, nice sunset flick.

Ride a bike, I'm not sure what you mean about resizing. Photoshop should have a check there for preserving the aspect ratio and all, and when you save it as a jpeg it will give you an option for the image quality. I usually use the highest image quality, and it works for me.

I usually go straight Image>Image Size and drop it down to a more manageable ratio, usually less than 5" or 6" on the long side, and rarely go under 150dpi (especially if you're shooting something heavily gradiated like blue skies or anything grayscale). Then saving as jpg NEVER go under 8 on the "quality scale"... anything less than 100k seems to suffer badly.

And Flickr takes it for host sites... plus it's a lot more photog-friendly than the majority of the others. PM me if you're on, anyone.

havent posted in ages, but I should have some new stuff in a day or two. I picked up two old cameras yesterday for a few bucks, gonna run a roll or two through and see how it goes. One is a Zeiss-Ikon Symbolica, which was kind of a precursor to the modern point and shoots....but with a fucking zeiss lens. The other is some kind of Leica copy called a "Ranger 35" with a Gendis 35mm f3.5 lens, cant really find any info on that one.

What's the deal with Zeiss lenses anyway? It doesn't matter to me much because the next camera I buy will be a DSLR, but I have heard of them a bunch of times.

after my last post I went out and shot a quick roll with it. You adjust the dial so that the light meter in the viewfinder is in the centre to get a correct exposure. the light meter is shot, but when you look at the dial you can figure out what fstop and shutter settings can be selected, you just have to guess at what the right exposure is. and the focusing is a bit of guesswork being that its a rangefinder and all. most of the roll was out of focus or underexposed, but the good shots definately made me glad I picked the camera up!

I like that still life. It's very Caraavagio. I was talking to a product photographer the other day about lighting jewelry and he sets up mirrors in various areas to refract the light. That might help you create a more dynamic composition. Just a thought.....

This may seem a very naive question to most of you, so i apologise in advance, however if anyone is feeling generous enough to offer me a non sarcastic response then please do. I was wondering what is the best way to go about taking panoramic shots, for example the night time scenes that Ride a Bike has taken. Any help or explanation is greatly appreciated!

Well what do you mean? In terms of exposure? Open the aperture as wide as possible and play with different exposures to get what you are looking for.

I just saw every photographers dream apartment today. hardwood floors, exposed brick walls, large wooden framed sliding windows big enough to lie down in, plus a common access rooftop with a view of the sea of condos and office buildings to one side, and the harbour and mountain ranges on the other. I didnt get a chance to use the roof (theres a perfect setup there that I'm dying to use) but the apartment itself was great to shoot in. I'll have some of the photos up tommorow, dont have time just now.

Depends what your price range is.
If you are looking for Digital SLR camera, I suggest looking at the Nikon D50, very cheap for what it is and an easy camera to get used to, great for any one new to Digital SLR's
