HDR is High dyamic range, basically 3 or more photos taken and different exposure then blended together...to expose the shadows, midtones, highlights.

hdr stands for high dynamic range. an hdr image is multiple exposers merged together so the entire image is exposed right and nothing is too dark or too blown out.

i've seen really good and really bad hdr photos.

Anyone got any advice on resizing photos on photoshop without losing the resolution? Whenever I do, it seems to fuck up, I lose the resolution, or the canvas shrinks but not the photo, or vice versa. appreciated...

Hopefully some one can help me out too. I recently shot 35mm film in my holga hoping to scan it onto a computer but I realized I dont have the right scanner to do that. Does any one know what kind of scanner you have to have? Are they expensive? And any other info to get my negative color film onto my computer would be great.

Buy a flat bead scanner for film, theyre anywhere from like $125 to upwards of a few thousand for top of the line, canon makes some cheaper end ones. If thats not an option soon enough then you can always take your negatives to a photo place and have them scan them onto a disk.

As for resizing images in photoshop you really shouldnt have any problems if you just click image and click images size. The only way youre going to havea problem is if youre attemping to resize an image bigger than the original size.

flat bed scanners suck dick for scanning negitives.

you need something that is specificly designed with film scanning in mind. some flatbeds do have a film scanning negitive carrier thing though.


but its not like i would know, i never shoot film....

i never ask..

if you don't look like a creep or anthing people usually figure out themselves that you're just trying to snap some quality shots at the expense of shooting random people. and besides, if you come up to someone to ask if you can take their picture, that kinda ruins the candidness and realism of the shot. that's my take on it

I sometimes shoot with a Holga as well (I also have an older Ricohflex), but I can never afford to buy film. When I have it (35mm or 120) I usually can't afford to develop it.

I'm on a quest to start working in a decent photo lab again. It's a lot harder to find a job doing it here in Austin, since the market is fairly small. Makes me miss Chicago. It was cold as shit there, but at least I got discounts on film and could develop my film for free.

This is the only picture that I took at my friends' wedding that turned out. Stupid broken flash.

And now a happy story:

I bought a Kodak Brownie Holiday from the antique store that is around the corner from my house. It's in excellent shape and came with the original box. AND ... There's film still in it! 5 exposed frames from someone else's life ... someone else's memories. Finding film in old cameras is one of my favorite things in the world. I'm gonna finish the roll and get it developed sometime in the next week. I'll post the pictures if any turn out.

When I shoot 120mm I primarily use any kind of Hasselblad.
Lately, I've been using the 553 ELX.

I'm in photo overload at the moment.
For those who might want to know I am taking two photo shooting classes (as opposed to the typical ONE for second-year students).
I snuck into a third year photo course and I'm shooting so much it's not even funny.

I just hope I have time to post new shit.

That's exactly what I hear. I'll try to check it out.

I hear you about the colors, not a strange statement at all.
Although, Burma government is super fucked up. Everything you do and buy here, they get a piece of it. I advise not to come here for that reason. It seems you are a traveller and photographer, so on that reason, check it out. Bagan is Burma's Ankor Wat and totally flat, so renting a bicycle and riding around is the way to do it.
And a 1-2 month trip is the only way to trip in SE Asia.

2. Adjust your aperture so that the background is blurred out.
3. Shoot the action. IE the serve - not half a second after the serve.

yeah that makes sense.those pictures apertures were 5.6, i needed the quicker shutter speed for the shot. i definitely shoulda rocked my other lens, 55 mm is still too far away. i took the photos that look like these, however, i chose the ones that i posted because i felt that they told the "entire story". for example, the photo of the girl you posted: its not so clear if the ball is coming or going, she might miss it, she might be trying to hit it to the right. the john mcenroe is fantastic, the girl one, i dont think so much of.
