I need to get off my ass and go out shooting. Nice stuff in here lately everyone. I'm also gonna have to recommend the Sigma 10-20. Real fun lens to use

i agree. thats the lens on my cam 95% of the time.

The 10-20 is great for making auto photos. Especially at car shows cause you can get right up on the vehicle and avoid getting unwanted onlookers in the frame. You know what I'm sayin d van. By the way, have you messed with any filters on this lens? I got a B+W polarizer for it but it's a bitch to use. I'm thinking about selling it and grabbing a ND

i only have a hoya circ polarizer. its great when the sun is out and the sky is blue. i wouldnt mind having an ND filter though.

this is what you're talking about. i actually bumped the lens hood into the bumper twice. lol.

^^^ Exactly. When I use that lens at parties and fill the frame, my friends are like "you sure we're in the picture?" Haaha. I think I put it up in here already but since the topic came up again here's a car photo I made with the 10-20

Based on the last couple/few pages, I can see that some of the newer posters aren't aware of how things work in this thread. So, just to recap some of the rules of this thread (that have been decided by longterm posters here) for some of the new folks:

-Please, don't post twenty different pictures in twenty different posts. Put them all in one post.
-Don't quote and entire post of pictures just to say "nice, bro." one or two pics in a quote is cool, but if you like them all just say, "nice, [insert name here]."
-This is not a graffiti thread. Nobody wants to see your shitty tags of some throw ups that you and your boyz did last night. Take that shit somewhere else.

I met Mr. Paul S. Namkumg at the Bayou City Arts Festival here in Houston
this past weekend. He is a world drum maker/artist from Tierra Amarilla, New Mexico.

i commented similar when 20 eyes posted his btbam pics, but the swirl of lights combination with the art from COLORS is awesome. like the swirls are choreographed to the the music.

I was totally going for as many Colors as possible, in theme with the new album.
My favorite is the colder colors with Dustin's yellow guitar.

Some1, there are no double exposures in fact. It's just a matter of keeping the shutter open longer to capture light trails.

giant is awesome. they're all my good buddies. they weren't allowed into canada over some legal shit but they've been rocking the past few nights here in the states. right after this tour ends in charlotte they are headed to memphis on another tour. hopefully you can catch them if you're in the midwest or east coast. lye by mistake is on this tour as well. they are asleep on my floor right now. they're cool dudes.

he used to work as a photographers assistant in tokyo but quit in order to do his own stuff
now he basically works just to spend money on prints to exhibit.

no i think one of his friends designed the site.

this is a dude I met who let me try out his lens, it was wicked nice
this photo was taken in a very dark room and the flash wasn't needed since the f-stop could go so wide.

Hockney's process of making those assemblages was very invovled. He would take detailed notes on every frame, exposure, position, zoom,time, etc. I think they took over a week to assemble once all the prints were made.

thismachine the noise doesn't really bother me much at that size, but I'm sure it shows up at full size... they all look a little underexposed though, and you get a lot more noise at higher ISOs when you underexpose...

yeah, they're underexposed because i was trying to capture the motion with as little blur as possible. i also kind like things slightly underexposed, but i'll keep the noise factor in mind next time.

What I do a lot while shooting shows is set about a stop under the amount of light I need, then bounce a manual flash off the ceiling to make up the other half. Usually at that low of an exposure the bounce flash is enough to freeze motion and still retain the color and feel of the lighting in the room. Then if you want it to look darker you can do that in raw processing.

i'll take this into consideration, but the venue in this instance was an old printing factory that was being used for an art show, with decaying, black, and really high ceilings.

and i don't have a flash, i've been meaning to pick one up. that and a wide-angle lens.

Good photo's of graff would be better suited for Brickslayers and Metal Heads.
Most of us in here write or at least wrote at some point and bench but we come in here to look at and post and discuss general photography.
