A TEENAGER died when he was struck by a train in Sydney's inner-west overnight, but police have been unable to identify him.
Police said the young man was crossing railway lines about 200 metres west of Stanmore Railway Station shortly before 11.30pm (AEST) when he was struck by the train.
His death is not being treated as suspicious but police have urged anyone who may have known him to come forward.
Police said he was of white European appearance, about 166cm tall, aged 14 to 18, with blue eyes, light brown hair, a thin build and weighing about 55kg.
He was wearing baggy blue jeans with the words "SP Function" on the right leg, a grey t-shirt with the words "Independent Truck Company" on the front, a long-sleeved fleecy top and a black beanie.
