the cremaster is the muscle in a males body that makes his testicles drop and lower, like when youre cold or you turn your head and cough.

I saw this dude's exhibit at the Guggenheim over the summer.

He had some really wild shit. Really cool things happening.....i remember:

1. The cauldron of petroleum jelly he heated up and let it flow down the spiral of the museum

2. A life-size bar modeled completely in petroleum jelly

3. A cross-section of a 66' ford mustang filled with honeycombs or something of the like.

Definitely some interesting shit.

I'm in a show right now with Matthew Barney. Just a group show, but curated by Michael Rees who's a pretty cool guy. I saw the Cremaster Solo exhibit at the Guggenheim and thought it was entertaining. The images definitely stick in your head. Kind of boring to watch all the way through, though...

anyway, here's the piece I have in the show with him... 3 parts... 1 in NYC, 2 in Houston Texas, 3 in L.A.

I've recently had this growing obsession with the cremaster cycle after flipping through the book in the Chicago Museum of Contempary Art. Is there any place I can see the cremaster cycle that's on the east coast? Preferrably close to philadelphia?

cremaster ain't entirely about male genitalia, you sound borderline homophobe. yes, cremaster is some muscle that pulls up the testicles, but that shit is really about freemasonry and other weird shit symbolically portrayed through bizarre images... the chrysler building.
cremaster 3 is the most recent one; they were produced out of sync.
it pretty hard to see, but I would try contacting an indie film house or the guggenheim if you really want to get your hands on it.

diggs,
ive never seen any prints. i'm gonna email him tonight if i remembr and see about getting some stuff. i'll pass on whatever i find out.

i 'had' an original painting he did for an album cover of ours back in the day, but it was 'missplaced'. i also 'had' some 4'x8' doze green panels that got pilfered out from under neath me. that would have been a semester of college. :(

ok.. heres a little refresher course on how to properly throw a grenade.

http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/m-67-dvic556.jpg
1. cradle the general issue (m-67 fragmentation grenade) like if it were new born baby goose.
http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/m-67-dvic557.jpg
2. stare at the pin and pray for jesus.
http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/m-67-dvic558.jpg
3. stand as akwardlyas possible facing your enemy (or do the sprinkler..whatever feels natural) throw the pin and hold the grenade..and youre as good as dead.

That's fucking disgusting. It's pathetic to spend that much money, when it could be put to so many better uses. I've never had that much money in my life, probably never will, and this dumb whore spends it on a cat. Go to the pound and get just as good a cat for next to nothing. It'll be just as loving, and needs a home a hell of a lot more. There's no replacement for the original.

Is it ironic that the cat is named Little Nicky, or is that just me?

I wish I could find a picture of one of these creatures he paints.. Its like the body of a giraffe crossed with a giant furry llama.. With a tiny red pinched face of a man.

Have any of you checked out any of the Kramer's Ergot books? Its a huge collection of really esoteric and strange independent comics/illustration. The content is outstanding.
Its got hard to find stuff in it from people like Marc Bell, Jordan Crane, Souther Salazar, Chris Ware (to mention well knowners)..

I finally got around to seeing Massive Change last week and I gotta say, it was off the fucking charts. The organization and presentation of the exhibit was amazing. For such a huge subject (the future of humanity, more or less) it was incredibly easy to follow without being overwhelmed. yet at the same time the density of information involved wasn't toned down at all. Unfortunately I wasnt able to get any photos. I had barely turned my camera on, when a security guard came over and asked to see my press pass. as I had none, he escorted me to the coat check to ensure I checked my camera in with my coat. a bit heavy handed I think....
heres a few from the VAG website that should work

for those of you who are in NYC and are into such events.

IDITAROD: Absurd shopping cart race

January 29, 2005 starting at 2pm; $5 per person
@ Race begins at Fulton Ferry Landing Pier, between Old Fulton and Water Streets DUMBO
jstark@nonsensenyc.com | 718 855 8910 | www.precisionaccidents.com

DETAILS: The Iditarod is the famous long-distance race in which yelping dogs tow a sled across Alaska. Our Idiotarod is pretty much the same thing, except that instead of dogs, it's people, instead of sleds, it's shopping carts, and instead of Alaska it's New York City. The event happens January 29, 2005. It will start in Brooklyn, run into Manhattan, and end approximately five miles later. Teams of five will race for a cash prize. And glory.

* Who can race? * Anyone. Everyone. Last year we had 150 runners. We anticipate more this year. You can forward this invitation to anyone you know.

* Isn't it going to be cold? * You can count on it. The race goes off rain or shine, blizzard or breeze. Bundle up.

* What's the route? * That's up to you. The race begins at Fulton Ferry Landing Pier, between Old Fulton and Water streets, in Brooklyn at 2pm. It will continue in Manhattan. We will announce three checkpoints and a finish line on our website a week before the race. You choose the fastest path. You will be held for 20 minutes at each checkpoint. There will be booze at the checkpoints.

* Can we get drunk? * It makes the pain go away.

* Are there rules? * Yes, quite a few of them. For starters, four people must be attached to and running in front of the cart at all times. There will be referees along the route to disqualify cheaters. We'll release a more detailed list of rules a week before the event.

* Does my team need its own shopping cart? * Yes.

* Where do we get a cart? * Be resourceful.

* Are you suggesting we steal it? * We didn't say that.

* Can we modify our shopping cart? * Yes, although there are rules -- kind of like stock car racing. Your shopping cart must roll on four rubber caster wheels. The only exception is that you can attach some sort of sled substructure to the bottom of the cart in case of deep snow or treacherous ice. As a general rule, you can attach things to your cart, make a riding platform, and grease up your wheels. You can also chop up the cart and rearrange the pieces -- but they all have to be accounted for. And because one team has already asked, no, your shopping cart can not be motorized.

* What is this going to cost me? * Dignity. Plus, there is a $5 per person entry fee. The winners take the pot. Actually, first prize takes 35 percent of the pot, second takes 20 percent, and third place wins 10 percent. The Best in Show award for best team cart and costumes also takes 35 percent. And there is a secret prize for best team sabotage. There could be endorsements, too, and, of course, right of sire.

* Can I make a side bet? * Absolutely.

* I want to race but my friends are lame. Is there a team I can join? * Maybe. Email us and we'll do our best to put the stragglers into teams of five people.

* This sounds funny. Can I bring my video camera and document it? * We would much rather you race. We think you'll have more fun. But yeah, you can come cheer on the teams at the starting line or at any of the checkpoints. And, fine, bring your camera.

* Do you need any help organizing this? * Totally. If you want to be involved with the project but can't run for some reason -- like you just had ACL surgery and are still hobbling around on crutches -- we could use you at the checkpoints. We also need referees and entertainers for points along the route. Plus people to make banners, hand out oranges, and make trophies. Please let us know if you would like to be involved in any way.

* Can my team wear matching outfits? * Knock yourself out. There will be a prize for Best in Show decided by the referees.

* Why are you doing this? * Because it's important to fight cold and kill boredom. After all, it's January in New York.

* Where did you get the idea for this event? * We stole it from a group of people in San Francisco who have been doing it for 10 years. The Idiotarod debuted in New York in 2004. People loved it. There are a lot of stories and photographs about the event on our Website: www.precisionaccidents.com.

* Who won the race?* Some real athletes. In order to discourage this from happening again teams wearing spandex will be penalized.

* Where can I get more information? * Check back with http://www.precisionaccidents.com or email jstark@nonsensenyc.com. There will also be an extremely detailed email a week before the event.

* Where can I learn more about the real Iditarod? * This is a good website: http://www.iditarod.com/

* Will there be an afterparty? * No, but we will finish near an establishment that serves cold beer. We will repair to this establishment and distribute the prizes.

* How do I sign up? * You are not required to register, but we would greatly appreciate it. Email jstark@nonsensenyc.com or call me on the phone (718 855 8910).

* How am I going to end this email? * Mush!

He does. At rediculously low prices as well. And all of them are just as amazing if not more so than the photo you posted. You can either contact him directly through a PM on this site or you can contact the Evos art gallery in Lowell, Mass. which has a bunch of his work on display and for sale right now.

hey al-

Thanks for the heads up on the idiotarod. I checked out the finish in Tompkins square yesterday. It was definately wild, and there were a lot more people in it than I expected. The funniest thing was watching the expressions of people in the park just passing by, as maniacs strung to shopping carts in zany outfits, rushed into the park screaming and drinking smirnoff from the bottle.

Gen. Reinhard Gehlen persuaded the U.S. Army and then the CIA to sponsor his intelligence network even though he employed numerous former Nazis and known war criminals.

Washington D.C., February 4, 2005 - Today the National Security Archive posted the CIA's secret documentary history of the U.S government's relationship with General Reinhard Gehlen, the German army's intelligence chief for the Eastern Front during World War II. At the end of the war, Gehlen established a close relationship with the U.S. and successfully maintained his intelligence network (it ultimately became the West German BND) even though he employed numerous former Nazis and known war criminals. The use of Gehlen's group, according to the CIA history, Forging an Intelligence Partnership: CIA and the Origins of the BND, 1945-49, was a "double edged sword" that "boosted the Warsaw Pact's propaganda efforts" and "suffered devastating penetrations by the KGB."

yellowman had a tumor or something removed from his face a few years ago, which is why he looks so jacked up now.

bobby might be the only one who (possibly) remembers this, but several years ago (early 2001) while i was drinking heavily (while at work) i began a campain to change my name to 'yellowman'. ouija countered by trying to have me redubbed 'chainsaw' or something ridiculous like that.
he then told everyone i was gay and posted a fake aim conversation that we (didnt) have. i took a one month vacation from the board and just sat back laughing. it was funny.

kisho kurokawa did was was referred to at the time as Metabolist Architecture.. i dont exactly understand what that means.. but he was definitely very futuristic..using progressive structural construction and materials.. especially in his earlier work.
