google PIGZILLA..there was a really cheesy show about it on National Geographic recently.. anyways.. the dynamics of how domestic pigs turn into wild pig..is really insane.. they completely morph from hairless to hairy..their snout changes shape and they become really aggressive.. but the concept of a 1 ton pig..is plausible..theres been records of 800 lbs.. plus pigs..

recognize and super size...

I came across a book yesterday, titled Destiny painting by Kent Williams.
If you have never heard of him, check out the work. Briliant!

Also Williams learned from Pratt University .......So I checked out some George Pratt art too... It's cool how you can see influences through mentors and students and how that continues through every artist everywhere.

FunTimePartyTeam
06-29-2005, 12:47 AM
Mack's done quite a few of Daredevil series's. He did that series with echo, and one with the kid who's dad was a villian. Then once they got brian michal bendis and alex maalev on daredevil, theve been switching off every six months or so.
BM Bendis' issues read really well and he will do two a month so thats the shit too.
All around Daredevils a good read.
Plus did you know he got married? And every one knows that matt murdock is daredevil!?! I dont know if anyone cares, but thats some messed up stuff.

"A few years ago, I opened the newspaper to find a story on the resurrection of a beloved graphic icon. It seems a group of railroad fanatics had come together to restore 16 locomotives to bear the black-and-red paint scheme of the long-defunct New Haven Railroad. And they were successful: today the trains are running in and out of Grand Central Terminal, bearing the striking logo that looks as good now as it did when it was retired in 1968."

A galvanic skin response sensor on the front of the keycase measures the driver's excitement level (used in lie detector for example, GSR measures minute changes in sweat levels
on the surface of the skin). If the reading is sufficiently high then the case will unlock. If not then it remains shut.

The Taser Tag is a project that explores the darker side of human nature and social progress through the familiar medium of game play.

The rules are simple. Once players get within about 10 meters (30 feet) of each other, they can shock other players by pressing buttons located in their headband. Those around them get a jolt of between 80 and 120 volts, depending on their distance. Or if you really want to hurt your opponent/friend, Taser Tag delivers an electric shock to his head the closer you get. But you get shocked, too

“The working hypothesis is people will forgo their own safety to inflict pain upon others, and from what I've found out, from experience, it turns out to be true,” says Randy Sarafan. “People will continue to risk their own safety to continue hurting other people, and that's pretty scary.”

"Here we go. Real electronic paper that's coming out next year. Very nice. Fujitsu has created a form of epaper that can hold images even when unpowered and can gather information wirelessly, leading to some interesting potential uses. The first, and most obvious, thing would be digital newspapers and magazines. You walk up to the kiosk, pay your money, and get a copy of Oui sent down to your epaper for later consumption. Will it happen? Probably not. But we can dream."

"I knew that Cobra-La-La-La was up to something. The U.S. Navy, working in concert with Cobra Commander and Zartan, has created a system for applying synthetic shark skin to the hulls of sea-borne vessels. The skin allows barnicles and crustaceans to slip off at speeds of 4-5 knots. The process, called anti-fouling can speed up our ships at sea considerably and reduced maintenance time."

(I can't see the image on this page but the link works) It's sad what happend with Wildcats. So great and then they just wouldnt wait for him to finish, and the replacement dude sucked so bad. I think he needs to get a gig with image and produce at his own rate. Although its my opinon that he is best when partnered with Friend.

^^ Bunch of X's. He worked on some other books previous to that, however they never seemed to hook him up with a decent inker before that and they were rarely as good. He did a Wildcats Wolverine (or maybe x-men, but it was just wolverine) that was sick (See the image at the top of the page). The ones that i wasnt that big of a fan of were the end of the WildC.a.t.s.(Series 1) and darkstalkers. He has done a bunch of covers though and those are all great. But i have a feeling hes fancies himself an artist as opposed to a comicbook artist, and hasnt actually done an excessive amount of comic work.

EDIT:

X's are working now. I dont know maybe its my computer.

i think charest was kind of ousted from the comic world for never meeting deadlines.. im assuming if anything hes probably in the video game or entertainment industry.. he did wildcats/xmen..which was 3-d and badly colored. he did work on both wildcats series one and two. he's done a crapload of alt covers and gatefold posters.
one of my biggest pet peaves is when a fresh comic illustrator decides to leave a title but is contractually obligated to do covers.. and then they have the insides done by some 3rd tier look alike artist.

http://www.artnet.com/artwork_images_116810_96138_Helmut-Newton.jpg
http://www.artnet.com/artwork_images_20_11143_Helmut-Newton.jpg

Helmut Newton has had it with female flesh. The photographer who gained worldwide notoriety for his coldly stylish portraits of naked women says he will never shoot nudes again.
"I just had a bellyful and realized I had shot enough nudes to last a lifetime," Newton says, pointing to a gigantic female nude photograph in his Monaco apartment's guest bathroom. "In fact, although I have no idea of the number, I think I photographed too many naked women."

The tanned and trim 75-year-old photographer leads a visitor through his expansive 19th-floor high-rise apartment and office complex and onto an outdoor balcony which features a picture-postcard view of the Monte Carlo Casino, the yacht-filled port and the tiny principality's salmon-pink palace.

It was on this very balcony that Newton once posed one of his trademark power models against the Mediterranean backdrop -- first dressed, then wearing only high heels.

But now the German-born photographer has put all that flesh behind him. No more shots of predatory naked women wearing chains and dog collars. No Amazonian voyeurs or sadomasochistic high-society belles. Those decadent scenarios with million-dollar models posing as midgets and wearing saddles -- images found in books like "Private Property" (Schirmer's Visual Library/Norton, 1990) and his most recent book, "Helmut Newton Illustrated #4" (Schirmer-Mosel, 1995), are a thing of the past. He has even bid adieu to his hard-edged fashion shots. In the new buttoned-up dispensation, the phrase "very Helmut Newton" will no longer be accompanied by knowing leers.

What was behind his decision? Not protests by feminists, or age, or mellowness, Newton says. It was just too much skin.

"It is like when I got tired of doing the bondage-dominated fashion shots in the early 1980s," he says. "I just couldn't bring anything new or fresh to the subject any more."

The Fucking Man.

http://www.artmuseums.harvard.edu/mondrian/images/cari01.jpg

"Intense involvement with living things is involvement with death. If you follow nature, wrote Mondrian in 1920, you have to accept 'whatever is capricious and twisted in nature'. If the capricious is beautiful, it is also tragic: 'If you follow nature you will not be able to vanquish the tragic to any real degree in your art. It is certainly true that naturalistic painting makes us feel a harmony which is beyond the tragic, but it does not express this in a clear and definite way, since it is not confined to expressing relations of equilibrium. Let us recognise the fact once and for all: the natural appearance, natural form, natural colour, natural rhythm, natural relations most often express the tragic . . . We must free ourselves from our attachment to the external, for only then do we transcend the tragic, and are enabled consciously to contemplate the repose which is within all things."

anyone in here know humberto ramos? he drew out there?

Al Green
08-17-2005, 01:59 AM
yeah my favorite humberto ramos stuff was actually his first run he did.. it was on Impulse. his early stuff was super fun.. and he really created a personality for the impulse character...which was really just a horrible flash spinoff..

anyways the vampire one also started off good but eventually he spent less and less time on backgrounds and the story got all crazy and religious.. between him campbell and madureira there have been a billion fanboys making comics using their style. but lacking alot of the dynamic qualities that made them all good in their game. both campbell and ramos are very good panel to panel sequential artists and have a wide range of types of environments, angles and objects they can render... madureira really got alot of people on pure splashy aesthetics and stylization. at that point there was only a few other people really pushing an american anime style.. i would say hughes who was posted on the last page was probably one of the most prominent..

anyways...forgive my nerding off.

http://www.ananova.com/images/web/387500.jpg

An enormous pink bunny has been erected on an Italian mountainside where it will stay for the next 20 years.

The 200-foot-long toy rabbit lies on the side of the 5,000 foot high Colletto Fava mountain in northern Italy's Piedmont region.

Viennese art group Gelatin designed the giant soft toy and say it was "knitted by dozens of grannies out of pink wool".

Group member Wolfgang Gantner said: "It's supposed to make you feel small, like Gulliver. You walk around it and you can't help but smile."

And Gelatin members say the bunny is not just for walking around - they are expecting hikers to climb its 20 foot sides and relax on its belly.

The giant rabbit is expected to remain on the mountain side until 2025.

Think of this as Teflon for your walls. A new paint, called Lotusan, has been developed by Sto that is self-cleaning. Intended for mineral, cement, and concrete surfaces, the paint mimics the water-beading effects on lotuses, causing rain to slide down the walls, thus reducing chances for micro-organism growth (The picture shown is the before/after effects of the paint). Sto is planning on commercializing the product as a spray-on for textiles, or some kind of special sheeting. Very cool idea... soon we'll never need to clean EVER. Ah how sweet that day would be.

Edit*

Please note that teflon is a nonstick material, and not used for bulletproof vests as 50 would have you believe (thats kevlar).

This headband MP3 player—straight from the Japanese company Evergreen—has a 96x64 pixel three color built-in EL display housed on the left hand side of the earphone. The EG-HPM also has a built-in mic for voice recording in either MP3 or WMA format, and a rechargable battery with 15 hours of juice. It comes in 256 MB and 512 MB, for around $130—but you're more likely to see this at a Star Wars convention than in an American store anytime soon.
