So let's set a time and a place and do some group work for a Babble Collective release - debuting on this thread and possibly in an art gallery near you...

Same here. Works fine in Netscape.
Al Green

i run mozilla which is basically the netscape engine.. but built independently and distributed for free..
..i recommend it as a more stable browser with better preferences.. more pop up control.. etc.

heavy supports Mozilla. better flash support then Netscrap, and Safari...
If IE only tabbed, and had better image support...
although i highly recommend, if you cant see the flick on the web, going to see it in person.
i think some people (sonic) use what they have
available at the time to do they' do. Bit theres a

> GOOD stuff.
But what's up with that Sonik? Is it "cool" to make it appear you have never painted before?<
I don't know that what Sonik is going for is a level of cool. Personally, I think he's going for truth in his work. You may find it silly but chances are he finds it rewarding. And really, that's all that matters at the end of the day. Wouldn't you agree?
Al Green
10-23-2003, 01:27 AM
as far as i understand soniks work is pretty pure.. if anything it communicates directly through the act of play in art. I feel that his work is successful in opening up a broader audience into accepting "graffiti" especially with its use of childlike playfulness and non threatening themes. Its important to address soniks use of cultural writing, folk narrative, travel/journey and context are super super important...before to quickly summing up his work....( i have to admit the flic i posted doesnt do any justice to what i just said)
i have much much respect for his work. and once i get around to it ill post some fotos of his stuff. if not.. go to his website.
joker im just going to keep nagging you to contribute.... please dont make me nag..

Yeah I agree. I'm probably thinking too hard about it.
I actually really enjoy most of Sonik's stuff. This one intrigues me also. I assume he's just trying to take graffiti back to it's roots, to cut away all the fancy tricks and techniques and write his name for fun without all the history that the graffit culture has built up for itself. I think it's ugly, but sometimes ugly is good. It can make you think alot more than something that is just being pretty for pretty's sake. BUT, let's not all start doing this. Regression is not a trend I like to see happen often. Paint for fun, but push what you are capable of in all avenues. na mean:mexican:

Good thing the camera showed up, we tore apart the car looking for it. My buttoning skills have gotten better. I have been working on buttoning up my shirt, one button at a time. I think I may have it.
As far as this thread goes, thank you Al Green, and all the contributors. This thread is the only reason why I come to 12oz anymore.

not to be a jerk..
but storyboarding.. is kind of like drawing a comic book with no images.. its illustrating panel by panel a story to visualize and discuss aspects of telling the story.
its more about clarity and communication then
just illustration or drawing characters.
thought thats something that people might want to know.

***jokes!!!!!!!!kidding!!etc.etc...***
that heavy is totally sick.
sal crew is a crew from canada. bc more specifically i belive. i'm not to sure about there history, but i have always been a fan of there work. i guess you could call them more of an 'artsy' graffiti crew. anyways labels are stupid and my small vocabulary doesn't help explain them. check em out at visualorgasm.com my reccomendations would definitly be tasq, mentos and akews. enjoy and keep adding to this wonderful thread.

The Positioned Strategy:
Sun Tzu said:
Generally, the control of the numerous
Is like the control of a few.
It is a matter of planning divisions.
A contest with the numerous
Is like a contest with the few.
It is a matter of masterful Positioning.
The Entire Force must be able to act on the opponent
Without sustaining losses.
It is a matter of the Surprising and the Straightforward.
The impact that comes from a Strategy
Is like an egg thrown against a millstone.
It is a matter of Illusion and Reality.
