Thanks for all the kind words on the site. We put lots of effort into making it look good, as well as function smoothly. Not to mention plenty of features to go around including real time package tracking, product reviews, shipping estimator, etc. It's actually been up for about two weeks being beta tested by a select group of people we chose to play around, shop, and help work out any kinks, so it's all smooth sailing now...
Anyhow, now that it's up we can focus on stocking it with product. Everything you see listed is available, unless specifically noted on the product page. Regardless, the inventory is all real time, so it won't sell you something out of stock - no backorders on anything. Not that you have anything to worry about either way, but credit card orders are insured by your bank, so no one has anything to risk. I give you my personal guarantee regardless...
Obviously, by purchasing stuff at www.fourthehardway.com (http://www.fourthehardway.com), you help support projects like this message board and other plans we have in the pipe, so our thanks ahead of time for spending your hard earned dough and supporting our cause.
Until further notice, there's free shipping on all orders over $100. Plus free stuff with every order. It varies on order amount, but ranges from free stickers and magazines, to free shirts, CD's and video's.
If you have any questions, read the FAQ (http://www.fourthehardway.com/shipping.php) cause most of it's been answered there.

we're looking into the buckles, but they were always a hard item to stock since some letters run out and the company was unreliable about pressing more. we got a ton of new product we're working on, much of it our own stuff, so stay tuned. much of the stuff will be first come, first served and in limited supply since the whole site works in realtime. basically everything in the sweatshop section is pretty scarce so get it while you can.
if there's anything you want and dont see, shoot them an email at

1. If it doesnt show up you dispute it with the credit card company. you get credited back the minute you file the complaint. if you're proven wrong it gets recharged 30 - 60 days later.
2. Our servers are kept on a private linux based network. credit card info isnt even stored on site, but rather gets processed approved, and deleted. once processed, your info is stored encrypted using 128 bit fractal encryption and very few people have access to it. Because we keep our lists combined, that means your name is one out of about 650,000. the only paperwork is what we send you. Admittedly a digital file exists, but it take a hell of a court order to get it. If you do enough damage that they want you, you'll be raided a hundred times over before they manage to raid us, and in the end its a freakin marker at worst.

never even crossed my mind. i went back and read a bunch, and they seem more informative than anything else. a lot of comparing one to the next. some people liked the ny fat over rusto fat, etc. and gave reasons. also, it might come accross that way becaus they only stock the best shit.

Damn, tell me where I can get a deal like that and maybe I'll start buying from them. Fact is those things are dumb expensive right off the bat. Then when you consider shipping from Europe, the price goes through the roof. To the best of my knowledge our prices are very competitive with the going rate. We're not trying to be 'Crazy Eddy's Blowout Bonanza' and blow all the other suppliers out the water. Just a real solid supplier, offering premium goods at a very fair price, fast fulfillment and shipping, from a website second to none. And we're just getting started...

We beta tested this thing for about a month by having all those involved invite a small trusted group of people they know (about 30 in total) to register and play with the site, so we could tweak it, work out kinks, as well as get ideas for what worked and what didn't. That's actually where the review feature and dropdown navigation ideas came from, as well as a couple other touches. Once the shop was feature complete and operating, we then invited them back along with a couple more people to check it out again, as well as shop. During the second test, they were able to purchase items and add reviews. Perhaps the reviews are biased because they were friends and also invited guests, but there was certainly no padding or coercing on our part. They wrote what they wanted, and as Beardo basically said, it's all great product what's bad to say about it?
Regardless, it's live and all of you are invited to throw in your two cents. Obviously unappropriate reviews and flames will be deleted, but if you hate the quality of something we stock, no one's going to keep you from voicing your opnion about it. That's why it's there.
Misteraven
07-02-2003, 02:36 PM
Another thing...
Now that people have begun ordering, I'm sure pretty soon ,many of them will come back and start posting about how it went. In fact, I encourage you to do so. Like the design, and the product, the service is all top notch.
I truly doubt there's any other mailorder putting in the effort that Four The Hard Way is. Raising the bar has been the cornerstone of what we've strived for since day one in everything we do. It took a lot of people, time, and effort to make that shop happen, so go have a look. If you like something you see, spend a couple bucks on it. As stated earlier you're completely covered, but I guarantee personally you'll be very pleased or your money back. And meanwhile you'll be supporting this site and all the other projects we're working hard to bring to light.

i have never in my life found german caps for anywhere near that cheap. in a graff store, they're usually 25-50 cents a piece, and every mail order spot i can think of, they run about $11 for 40. i think you're thinking of american caps, and even then, the 'standard' is $8 for 100.

Misteraven
07-02-2003, 07:17 PM
no idea.
problem is setting it up to ship international, as well as handling credit card transactions. UPS doesnt quote int'l in realtime usually, plus there's all kinds of customs declarations and stuff we need to do on our end. Lastly, there's a high rate of fraud (especially eastern europe) and it's nearly impossible to track down or prevent with what we have currently available.
like I said, we're looking into it, but it probably wont be for a while.

You can build gradually... start with shipping to "trusted" EU countries (UK, Italy, France, Germany etc. etc.) then eventually when you feel you can deal with the threat of fraudsters and find ways of stopping them, move eastwards. 12oz worldwide!

i use this site enough and id like to put some sort of cash back into your pocket raven for all the years of cheap entertainment. please, try your best to make it internationally.
oh and get some more inks and markers.
Canada will definately be next on the agenda and should be implemented relatively soon. EU will definitely be next, but as stated, teh logistics of shipping overseas isnt simple. Obviously the more you guys scream out for it (as well as othewr features and products) the sooner you stand to see it happen.

The site is def. a plus, Its layed out nice, and not corny like some other sites, it looks like your shopping at a decent store which is good.
Im going to order some stuff soon, just as soon as I get my paycheck.
I hope to have some more goodies available very shortly
Yes Please.
I hope as the site grows, and the popularity of it the selection will as well, but shit kudos for getting something like it up and running.

thanks.
this is just a revision 1 project. as long as we keep getting feedback about what works and what doesn't, we'll keep logging the comments and refine the shop as we go along.
next up on the agenda is the www.12ozProphet .com (http://www.12ozprophet .com). Now that the shop is out of the way, we're planning a massive relaunch of this site. hopefully, as the shop gets more business, we'll have the cash flow to develope lots of cool stuff for both this site and www.theVapors.com (http://www.thevapors .com). we're working hard right now to get the ends to buy new servers, so all the support you guys provide by shopping at 4THW will be put to good use.

trust me, nobody got burned worse when 7th heaven/urp collapsed than we did. we lost our building and most of what was in it. regardless, i always tried to make right with anyone that contacted me about their missing orders as you've just mentioned, and will continue to do so until it's all been settled.
to the best of my knowledge there was only about a week's discrepency or so from when our shipping account got cancelled and packages got returned to us, or never left the dock. beyond that there was only a few days where payments were processed before we finally realized that things were definitely shutting down. the rest of the orders recieved we're never opened or cashed, so if you contact us, we'll send back your original letter. however, there really wasnt much more than a week and a half where orders entered our system, but were never processed.
my apologies to anyone that was affected by it and like i said, despite the fact that we lost our asses, we'll do whatever we can to clean up any lingering mess. i'm sure many will remember we ran a very tight ship for years and even went so far as to send out 3 volumes worth of full color, 48 page catalogs that we're better than many mags that were trying to charge $5.00 at the time. besides all the great things we did with 7th heaven, we've also supported this site out of pocket for many years now.
i know it sucks to get jerked, and i'm not making excuses for it. but like i said, hit us up, and we'll get you sorted.
*however, there's not much to worry about when you use your credit card since if you don't get your goods, you can dispute the charges. you're fully protected. just remember that though it varies from state to state, that if you dispute charges from a purchase, and they can prove the goods were shipped, that you might be subject to a fine in addition to getting recharged kinda like when you bounce a check.
thanks for the support.

Sure a bunch of it wouldn't sell like it used to. You can get fat laces in any

Considering we ship to your door step insured, with real time tracking all the way, and free stuff in every order, is it really that expensive? Obviously it sucks if your only buying a marker, but most people don't do that.
As you can see we're pretty much below average on shipping costs, all things considered.

Look, UPS is global, fuck national... and, the 'handling' part of the cost is real, people need to process your stuff, even if they were paid exorbitantly, at least the money is going back into the community right?
Nah, look, nobody that wants to order is gonna be stopped by a totally fair shipping rate so take that talk down the road and let's get down to it...

Hopefully, you see something you like and make a purchase. If so, you get a good deal while helping support projects like this message board and the next issue of the magazine. If not, no hard feelings... keep doing your thing and feel privileged that we help keep the culture alive by providing you stuff like The Writers Forum.

theVAPORS PROJECT ISSUE 1 (http://www.fourthehardway.com/product_info.php?products_id=70)
From the original creators of 12ozProphet Magazine, comes the landmark premier issue of theVapors Project. An all new magazine devoted exclusively to all the vandals you love to hate. theVapors Project (http://www.thevapors.com/) dropped jaws and set precedent back during it's 2001 release, by focusing on the aspects of graffiti that everyone else was busy ignoring, and in the process reset the standards for what graffiti magazines are all about. theVapors Project (http://www.thevapors.com/) represents graffiti in its purest form, deconstructing the movement back to it's simplest elements, and spotlighting the heroes and villains at the forefront of this elusive subculture. Uncensored and without compromise, theVapors Project (http://www.thevapors.com/) pulls no punches in setting the story straight. Issue 1 features a well rounded mix of clean trains, freights, insides, tags, throwies, and classics, as well as in-depth spotlights on two of New York's prodigal sons - Revs and Skuf.
theVapors Project Issue 1 (http://www.fourthehardway.com/product_info.php?products_id=70) features a special collector's edition scratchiti cover, 48 full-color pages, and enough down and dirty graff to make your local vandal squad beg for mercy.
Keep an eye out for the heavy hitting sequel - theVapors Issue 2. Dropping Fall 2003.

i didn't have a hard time with them, but i do know people who have been ripped off by those nazi's at paypal. one guys money was just "taken" by them for no apparent reason. apparently, if you read into the contract/agreement, they can do that. i believe he sued, but it was to no avail.
i'd check into something else, but i'm not too sure of any other payment services like paypal.

That seems kinda odd. Not sure what the issue is. Regardless, try copying/pasting the password. Passwords are picked by you when you register, not by 4thw so it shouldnt have been an issue.

yeah, it's definately a thought.
as far as shirt sizes, anytime we ever carried smaller sizes in the past, they just sat there. The large isn't too bad and it's 100% cotton so it will shrink slightly if yuou throw it in the dryer at a high setting.
maybe down the road, we'll mix it up a bit, but since this is such a limited run, we can't break it up too much.

we're working on some books now, but arent sure whether we're getting them yet since pricing hasnt been received. kinda hard to compete with amazon on stuff like that. For the most part we're putting our efforts into expanding our own product offering rather than distribute other people's stuff, but we will do our best to carry as much cool and hard to find products as we can.
as far as shirts, i can't say cause i havent had one in hand yet. i generally where larges myself, since i hate that triple xl baggy look, so i'd assume the large would be fine for most people that arent trying to go oversized. we'll try and post some sort of big announcement or something, but just to let you know... the first mass mailout of our newsletter will coincide with the shirts dropping. at last check there were somewhere in the ballpark of 650,000 emails in our database, most of which will be getting the news about them. since this will be a limited run, availability is gonna be tight.
first come, first served.

This is the first we've heard of this issue. I know there's a bug in the Safari browser when it comes to both SSL and forms. Also, AOL isn't officially supported.
My only suggestion is to try a different browser, unless you can give us the specific error message.
