I believe I'm planning on ordering for the sake of 'support'...and becuase the shirts look really nice. But, don't you think these might be a hard sell seeing as how writers tend to try ot be low-profile or whatever?
As in, I don't really see myself wearing these around town, I'd hate for some jackass to strike up a "graffing" converstion with me.
Maybe I'm looking at it wrong.....?

You know I'll be buying one just to give a little something back,
but I cant say I like the 'cap heads'. Maybe it's just me, but that seems
very cliched for a site like 12oz. The joker designs are way more in
touch with the content that we normally see on here.
put me down for a t.

That's why we left off the handstyles. We figured people that knew whats up would respect, and the rest of the world could just recognize it as a cool shirt.

too each his own. everyone will always have an opinion.
we were going for a vintage all american athletico style. the cap head is just a joke that puts it within context. sorry, but I don't see it as cliche at all and personally haven't seen any 'graff' based company do a team type t-shirt.

Thanks to everyone buying shirts. It really does help support the board since all the loot is going straight towards buying new servers and equipment. Once we get that far, we'll be launching several new sections and also plan to host photos instead of leaving you guys to scounge a photohost.
Regardless, free goodies in every order and a fresh t-shirt to sport. Who could ask for more.
Thanks again.

11-10-2003, 05:43 PM
yeah I know it's just my opinion and it will differ from yours.
and yes it does put the 'team asthetic' into context with a graffiti site,
but remeber this? http://www.artcrimes.com/sketch/blackbook/a_bd1.gif
That's just one of a thousand examples of 'cap head'.
Just my opinion though.
And I think having it on a classic '12oz gray' shirt would be cool too.
Misteraven
11-10-2003, 05:47 PM
using a cap as the head of a character is nothing new, but the context of how we used it is (in my opinion). it's like throwing a crown or a halo over a letter - just a classic motif within the culture.
anyhow, we plan to drop a limited batch of shirts each month from here on out, so maybe you'll like next month's releases better.
though based off the feedback we've gotten so far, I'm guessing the pro league shirt will be an instant classic.

yall are being hyper critical of the whole 'cap head' thing. it's not 'cliche' it's a 'throwback', 'traditional' sort of design. look at any old baseball uniforms, they're all very simple, straight forward. characters with baseballs for heads, etc. if it was anything else, it wouldnt make sense.
and i would like to think i've done more than my part in maintaining the beef aspect of the site....well, maybe not lately, but you cant take the ghetto outa the nigga, naw'mean...

i cant speak for raven on this, but i know that dude has put up SEVERAL posts explaining that anyone that got screwed in the past, if they would email him with any kind of proof, he would more than make up for it now. if you havent tried to contact him, then no offense homie, but thats on you. and if you havent even tried, then it's not really fair for you to slander him without giving him a chance to make good.

ok fair enough dude, but i NEVER saw any info provided for those that got screwed in the past. maybe i wasn't looking hard- fuggit, i wasn't looking hard, but i don't feel like it's on me to have to LOOK for that kind of info.
and i haven't tried recently, but over the past 4 years i probably put out 20 or so "where's my shit" emails and calls. forgive me for not realizing if i had done this in the past two months it would work, as opposed to the previous three years. i know we all like raven and stuff, but come on man, that's far from slander. that's the truth. it's not like i haven't tried to contact dude to let him know what's up and give him the chance to make good.
raven, i see your post, but don't act all indignant and say "there's no excuse." come on man, you're running a business, you think that makes people want to order? did i mess up originally by ordering from you and not having my shit come? or sending 20 emails/call and never getting anything returned? i don't think so. and if you're willing to make good, cool, thanks. gravy train. i'll take you up on the offer.
the "slander" and "no excuse" comments seemed a little uneven to me, which is why i even responded here as opposed to email (where everything else should be settled). i'd much rather not marr raven's thread further. how bout that joker shirt? :)

no one's upset. at least I'm not and I meant no foul in my statement to you. I'm simply saying that I've repeatedly mentioned that anyone with a missing order can contact us and if we can find evidence to substantiate the claim, you'll get your just deserves and some other good stuff to make up for the discrepency.
I'm just tired of kids whining about a pack of missing caps, then disappearing when I ask them to step up with some info or proof. We tried to start hitting up people we were aware of having missing orders, but it was a nightmare trying to get ahold of them with no phone numbers, and outdated addresses.
Like I've mentioned several times in the past, there were very few orders outstanding when we closed 7th Heaven since 98% of all orders we recieved were paid via credit card. Once people found out we closed, everyone and their mothers (literally) simply contested the charges with their bank and never lost a dime. Fact is there was only about a week and a half to two week discrepency where we werent sure what was happening where orders got processed and didnt ship before we closed our doors. However, we have records of all that stuff, and it still doesnt change the fact that Four The Hard Way only accepts credit cards, which means your covered 100% by the card issuer when you use it.
Regardless, we've got a squeeky clean record and I'm sure enough of you have already ordered from Four The Hard Way that plenty of you can step up and vouch for not only the fact you recieved what you ordered, but that it was delivered quickly and professionally with plenty of free stuff.

the handstyle on the back is a medium grey and yes, it's equally visible on black as it is on white.
personally I like the pro league shirt in white and the joker shirt on black, but it's a really touch call. both shirt colors for each shirt look real clean.
quality is top notch thru and thru. we put a lot of effort into getting them made and I'm sure once you get it in hand, you'll see that these aren't some run of the mill type t-shirts.

These are pretty much true to size, but if anything might lean towards a generous cut. If you wear medium, get a medium.

Plus i got it next day air, now im not sure if that was a freebie as well since i ordered regular ground , but if it wasnt someone at the distribution point better start watching out, those small amounts of money rack up quite quickly.

Is there any way to have an order processed without my being suspected of fraud? Unfortunately,we can't bypass the credit card authorization system so if it doesn't accept your address then it won't go through. what you have to do is call your credit card company and list your physical address as an alternate ship to address and then the card should verify through our system. give it a shot and see if it works.
so you guys got somekind of cut on the 2nd day air, or did you shell out the extra bucks??? Just curious.

Four The Hard Way ate the cost on the speedy shipping since soem of the shirts sizes came a day late from the factory.
Four The Hard Way prides themselves on shipping orders the same day they're recieved (weekdays), so they were willing to lose a little money to make sure your order got delivered the same day it would have had it been shipped right away despite the discrepancy.
i sent my MO on thursday or friday(13-14th) so 4THW should be getting it soon, taking a few days no doubt being an international order..
just outta curiousity, how long will it take to ship the product back to me (australia) ? couple of days ?

Thanks for the compliments.
I've always taken my projects very seriously, and despite some inevitable bumps in the road, I think we've done a pretty decent job all around. Hopefully, it'll only get better with time.
That said, I'll add the gratuitous statement about how ordering from www.fourthehardway.com (http://www.fourthehardway.com) helps keep projects like this message board alive. Hopefully, with things rolling again we can begin looking at a realistic date to relaunch the magazine. Not to panhandle here, but support from the community can help make the magazine, and other cool projects happen that much sooner.

Like I said before, photgraphs really dont do these shirts justice. They're top notch quality throughout. We had them redone by three separate places before we sourced a company that could satisfy our demands for quality. The black shirts were a particular challenge, but in the end, the colors popped just as bright, without those thick ass lame screen prints.
Maybe a few of you that have shirts in hand can speak up about it.

Been swamped, I'll get to it. No you trademark the name, logo, and primary assets. Decorative usage and art is given particular rights upon creation. The only point of officially copyrighting something is to prove when it was created, as well as have the option to recieve damages in the event it's infringed upon. Otherwise a cease and desist order would be sent.

This is something I still want to do but it will have to be on my dime, not 12oz's. The idea to me is great but a risky one. It's only going to attract a small range of folks so the costs in making the shirt out weigh the return. It's a matter of do I want to lose money on a design I will love...
At least I know I'll be able to sell one ;)

joker - yeah i'd snatch up a white on white with a SERIOUS quickness. if your looking to make it a bit quicker or want some help financing.. my company might be able to work with you... just an idea. its a design collective run by myself and one of my good friends...
anyway.. WHO'S YOUR MANUFACTURER... give me a link, give me a phone number.. i NEED to get ahold of someone who can do the custom tag work along with the print.. like i said before the groups im working with now have a KILLER overhead and the setup fee kills all profits..
please let me know.

Just got mine - holy shit it's nice.
Thanks to 4THW for shipping out to me - I'll pay it back when I see how much the shippin on the Joker print is.
And... this is gonna sound like an odd question, but how well does the shirt wash? It says "cold wash", does this mean the design will wash off in a warm wash?
...hey, at least I wash my own clothes.

They wash exceptionally well, however it's best to follow the care instructions.

always wash cold wash. that way you don't have to separate colors, you can just wack em all in together!
Let Makros design a 12oz shirt, I'd buy that shit.

I got mine today shipped by a fellow 12ozer (thanx man)
Both are fuckin awesome! The stamp quality is unbelievable, not the thick sketchy type but yet very bright and opaque colors, the shirt fits perfectly well and is soft for girls to lean on..hehe, i love you 12oz
