casek, did you even look at those eps files? they aren't very good quality and they aren't vector.
They are actually Bitmap files. Although they were really easy to convert into Vector format because of that. I'll be using these alot, thanx! Heres something i made using various letters from that folder.

What do you mean? theyre mainly rapidshare links. Ive been using the site since last year. You have to be fairly quick tho as files get deleted by those not wanting commercial fonts to be available.
Trade gothic you can get off the adobe font folio.

it all depends upon what you're going to be using it for [in my perspective]
you could use a satire kind of font depending upon how you're trying to put it across

Ok, so a lot of heads have been hitting us up about our new t-shirt designs. They don’t seem to understand why we chose the old school, ugly looking font as our new design for our t’s and sweaters. For those of you who don’t skate then let me give you a brief introduction of where this design/font came from so that you can have a better understanding of why we did what we did. First off the original font is from Thrasher’s “Skate And Destroy” from the late 80’s to early 90’s. I remember seeing the logotype on all kinds of stickers and magazines back in the day when I first started skating. Well recently last summer, while chilling at my homegirl Nicole’s pad, she showed me an original “Skate And Destroy” sweater that she received from a friend over at THRASHER and a clever idea popped up in my head. At that time I was already thinking about dropping a new t-shirt design so I thought to myself, “Why not flip the “Skate And Destroy” font to say “Skate All Cities”? This is what we came up with. And if you don’t know, Now you know.''

Ugly, it's beautiful. Looks like the old local punk flyer font. Very late eighties. In SoCal, all the cholos would write the Ns back wards or else cross it out. But this was skater font at the time.

I'm not saying that either. I think it goes without saying that 99% of the people on this forum couldn't toss 4 grand on a type family even if it was the greatest set ever, just figured I'd throw it out there and see if anyone had it.
ShortFuse
01-14-2010, 06:13 PM
True. I was reading a book on it once and I thought Id might have a go at it. Started to doodle for a bit and came up with something I thought was decent. The letters had good consistency, I thought a lot about the flow as if some one were to write it with a pen etc etc etc. Anyways I used to post a lot and lurk on Typophile.com back in the day. Nice site with some quality stuff going through it. Post something there one day that you think is good and they will rip it apart hahaha and it starts to really shine light that theres more to it than just simple letters as some see.
Im more of a script person and I love the flourishes etc. That Semilla is some delectable shit. Although I dont hunt for fonts anymore, I try my best to create what words I need to fit what ever Im doing.

I was hoping there was some method to organizing them.
I noticed some are separated by language in the CS3 font drop down menu.
Is there any way to separate your fonts into folders?
Also is there a better way to scroll through all of them where the example is bigger?

to be honest the only really good typo used in graphic design is custom, arial bold or helvetica.
its rare to see others used well.

Anamorphic Typography
An exploration of the potential and existing relationship between
architecture and typography
This project evolved out of a brief we had set ourselves as part of the assessment for our Foundation
Degree course at Chelsea College of Art & Design. From initially looking into the existing and possible
relationship between graphic design and architecture we discovered the process of anamorphosis as
used by the fine artist Felice Varini.
After researching and testing the process in our studio we began to search for an ideal architectural
space within our college buildings to execute our installation in. When planning an anamorphic
installation is it important to consider that to maximise the fracturing of the design, it is best to try
and touch as many plains as possible. We eventually decided to carry out our installation in a corridor
of our college (as shown in the images) using the long walls to maximise the distortion of the
letterforms. All of our work is site specific and we spend as long as possible discussing a choosing the
perfect architectural locations for our works.
We initially chose the phrase "It's more than just print" to challenge the conventional idea that graphic
design can only be realised in 2 dimensions (a poster, business card or magazine etc). The phrase is
also a comment on the technique as when viewed from the right viewpoint, the design looks as though
it is flat on a 2D plain.
For our second installation we chose the phrase “it’s a point of view” as a comment on the process of
anamorphosis where the design only becomes fully legible when viewed from a specific point of view.
This piece was also a comment on the the subjective nature of good design, given it’s placement in our
end of year exhibition featuring works by all of our peers.
Our work encourages the viewer to walk into and around typography, an immersive experience
considering that their usual relationship with type would normally be realised on a two dimensional
surface be it printed or computerised. Being able to appreciate it physically painted onto walls of
buildings which the viewers are used to interacting with every day draws attention to the beauty of
typography and at same time highlighting the architectural forms that it adorns.

Dunno how I slept on this thread. Got this from my parents last Christmas -
http://swisslegacy.com/uploads/2010/10/DSC_7620.jpg
"Just My Type is a book of stories about fonts. It examines how Helvetica and Comic Sans took over the world. It explains why we are still influenced by type choices made more than 500 years ago, and why the T in the Beatles logo is longer than the other letters. It profiles the great originators of type, from Baskerville to Zapf, as well as people like Neville Brody who threw out the rulebook. The book is about that pivotal moment when fonts left the world of Letraset and were loaded onto computers, and typefaces became something we realized we all have an opinion about. And beyond all this, the book reveals what may be the very best and worst fonts in the world – and what your choice of font says about you."
Love those old boxing posters up there too!

Futura is the name of a typeface designed by Paul Renner.
Nothing to do with mr 2000

^^ that's what I thought in regards to the typeface, but apparently the 'guy' at the shop told the gift bearer otherwise.
just looks like a type specimen on a piece of wood to me. dont know why futura 2000 would be involved.
it's cool though

Yeah that's exactly what it is, I was a bit surprised when I was told it was by mr2000.
I still think it's great though. Creates a bit of a talking point for interesting banter and I plan on collecting some more. Cheers for the feedback.
