all governments of all types are prone to times of moral ambiguity and sometimes the down right absence of it, because man is prone to this and government is only an extension of the men who run it. so i am not surprised by the story. but at the same time, i sat open mouthed and dumbfounded. and what i find to be most surprising is not so much the machiavellian aspects and attitudes, but rather the action of it being swept under the rug. im not suprised by the action, but rather the inaction of action at getting to the bottom of the story. but what really really surprised me was the fantasy that the ideas of nixon and kissinger were based on. in my layman terms i would consider a foreign policy of sometimes nasty problems needing nasty solutions, but its rare. kissinger seems to take this to the extreme. the combination a nixons paranoid personality and kissnger hypnotic meglomania had devasting and counter productive results, and clearly there were crimes against humanity.
but i got to thinking is it still possible in this day and time of rapid media and an ever expanding microscope that this sort of "diplomacy" in action can occur?
could the bombing of cambodia still occur...we currently operate in iraq which borders iran and syria and based on the logic of kissinger, the arguments being made warrant action....
im going to look at porn and go to bed...
merry thanksgiving...

I think he's confounded by the idea that in this day and age with our substantial communication techniques and networks that more evil wouldn't be brought to light rather than lost in the ether. I agree. I suppose I can only attribute this to the massive influence of major media and it's sway over the general populace. It is seen that they can simply repeat lies even though they have been disproven and it will still generally be accepted as truth. Why? Because the truth is not being trumpeted on the hilltops. While guerilla media has gained by leaps and bounds it still has relatively little influence over the general population. Especially as it can easily be brushed off as conspiracy theory. "I hear there are rumors on the uhh, internets..."- W
I suppose noone is willing to sacrifice their careers these days for a higher cause. A sad state of affairs indeed. I'm still pissed Kerry has dropped off radar.

All those Nixon people were fucking crazy. Kissinger is probably responsible for more deaths than anyone since hitler.
G. Gordon Liddy was also crazy. I read a good article on him last week, you can check it here: http://news.independent.co.uk/people/profi...sp?story=585368 (http://news.independent.co.uk/people/profiles/story.jsp?story=585368)
