The anime char is kinda dope the letters dont quite match up.... I dunno it doesnt really flow and the e reminds me of like tuning fork for some reason. If you did the char on the right I'd love to see more. Rare I see anime in a piece.

vare- that blank simple, the middle one, keep doing that until you can make it look like you printed it out, once you have your letters down so well at a font like simplicity, you can start tweaking them slowly and making it look good at the same time

i just glanced at a few of the pages.
couple points of advice i was given, and some of my own:

fills: for now while your form is as weak as it is, keep it extremely simple, 1 or 2 colors. by throwing in waves and everything you're just "aggravating" the form that you have. one solid color allows you to focus on the form (which is, i feel, the most vital part of graf--more than fills, color schemes, etc). good form, even w/ a bad fill can be respected. wack form and wack fills can only be dissed.

form: i think everyone who gets into graf starts with dreams of being the next saber (or respective era-great), so they try to do a lot w/ forms, pushing what the letter is. that comes in time. for now, KEEP IT SIMPLE. i'm saying take an arial font and use it. study it. examine every point of the letter. SANS SERIF. NO FLARE. just the absolute necessary parts that make the letter. play w/ thickness of the lines--outline as well. the more you make, the better you will understand where the strengths of each letter is. my early books i dedicated pages to each letter of the alphabet. (more about this on my biting point)

3d--keep it simple for now. focus on form...

biting/studying--yeah yeah, everybody thinks they're too good to bite. good. keep that attitude, but you've been doing this for 3 months and you plan on mastering this art w/o emulating the masters? be real about it, be honest. admit when you're doing it, but do it! find a piece you really like, and copy it exactly (don't trace) but do your best to transfer all the lines onto your page. "feel" each curve, feel each piece of flare as it comes from the base form. a lot of this comes in time, but its okay, you'll develop style in a year or two, for now you don't have it, so use somebody else's. find exercises which allow you to understand positive flowing forms.
*i'm sure somebody's gonna be pissed about this comment... suck it.

just keep trying to understand what is happening on your piece.

best advice--ALWAYS DRAW. don't stop. do it whenever you can. just doodle. draw waves and curves and circles. work w/ perspective points. discover what is appealing to the eye. study other art forms--modern art offers a lot of curve and angle specific ideas. tear through a black book in a month, come back to that book in 6 months and redo the sketches--see if you can accomplish what you were trying to create now w/ new skills.

i think i'm just rambling at this point, but i think there is some nuggets of knowledge in this rant.

its a matter of uniformity..the letters should look like theyre from the same font,,, but in urs the u's sides are bent inwards..z's good/,,,..the baseline for the e is too big..and the bottom part of the r, and the whole are kinda messed up...fix those...or try one using the font of ur keyboard.

If you post your shit in this thread then you obviously need some help with some shit. If you wont actual advice then "change your tag" etc etc, then here it is...

That piece is fine for a toy (assuming you are a toy, no beef) but you could of made it look alot more better if you cleaned up the lines and shit. You could of also sharpend the points of your letters. If you dont know how to do this i suggest you go into "The yard" and then go to the "painting clean" thread. It may help you alot.

block letters, thats what you need to start off with look at your keyboard kaos. make those letters thicker, and keep sketching that till your ready to make little alterations.
toys need to stop putting so much shit round there sketches, i used to make the same mistake, it just looks a mess.

aerosol try making your line widths more consistent and sluts or mess whatever you want to be called, clean it up a bit, try moving your marker a little quicker and cleaner as for the M try to match it up a little more with the left side as its pretty decent over there but you start to lose it, best way to learn simple letter style is to use a ruler to mark out a 2-3 inch tall rectangle and try to stay in that so you stay straight and about the same size, i would be more concerned with the "S"'s as they are really in need of help. as for all toys here the best thing to remember is to sit back after youre done and look at a few pieces from writers you know are good and established and look at them and you will see one thing they all have in common which is FLOW your piece bomb simple hand ANYTHING has to flow smooth, it has to look like it belongs there rather than just some letters plopped on a paper. try to be consistent with your line widths try to keep to the same style add on and letters but like everyone else says try using a REAL simple font and just copy that tll you can get it nice and clean then add on little extensions to the letters and slowly work till you understand flow and form.... word piss drunx mother fucking NIGHT OWLS BITCH

the K again like i said keep with similar line widths, try to keep all your diagonal lines about the same size unless its a wild extension and same with vert and horizantal lines it makes it look more unifor and flow well, the problem with the A is that it is kinda shut off if you know what i mean, it would stand out WAY to much against any other letters you have to draw a piece as a whole not letter by letter remember what i was saying about flow? i mean the a isnt horrible by any means ive seen much worse but remember some of the nicest pieces are really clean really simple and flow well. you dont have to have a ton of overlapping extensions and bends to make a nice piece ;) but keep it up man graff isnt that fuckin hard lol

ughh im really lazy at this moment so im not gonna draw and upload one but im sure i could get to it some time today, your best bet would be to copy the S on your keyboard, you have to understand what makes an S and S you know? there are certain things in each letter that are needed to make that letter, like the diagonal line between the top and bottom curves of the S, try to stay somewhat symetrical at the begining because its alot cleaner than a blob that kind of resembles an S (again not dissing as i understand we ALL started off like that haha) so like i said rule out a nice sized area on some paper and tear up some simples. imagine doing a roller on a piece of paper. ill try and get some S's up for you to look at later

^forget that color, decoration, 3d, and modifications to your lines exist.

i like the overall shape of the piece. your sense of motion seems like it will turn out well.


but keep your lines as straight as possible. no notches, connections, decorations, or anything like that. try to avoid curves even. do as little as you can.


you can add all the decorations later when you've gotten to the point of just wasting time.
