You are missing the point of the simple letters. The simples are block letters. This must have been said thousands of times but look at the letter and decide how to make it out of equally sized lines, for instance, an A would be two slanting lines with one crossing them like this: /- but more squished together. And at first seperate your letters completely, you see how on this one[img]http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid65/pbec59ad8d928a35257685289c318faf6/fbf9045a.jpg'> The D kind of hides the O and it looks fouled up. Try to avoid that. Start doing those block letters until you'd be proud to show them to your mom, or Joker, or maybe Zone. Then you can begin to add style, but thats a whole nother helpline.

by equal you mean if the letters are a 1/4th inch wide the longest the shadow should be is a 1/4th an inch?

he means that your shadow in the A and the V go down lower than the rest of the word, try making all yoor shadows at the same angle and size

No sir,thats not what i was getting at,look at the bottum right side of the second letter,than the bottum left of the forth,they arent equal how they go on degree and then the other goes a different degree,and maybe you could take both sides of the top of the V and shade down both sides,soo it looks like the shadow is going to the middle of the V

I think you're missing the point here.... BREAK DOWN YOUR LETTERS INTO THEIR SIMPLEST, MOST STYLE FREE FORM... LOOK AT THESE LETTERS....

see how they are the simplest forms possible. Picture these made of bars, the D is a straight vertical bar with a bar bent into a half circle... the o is two half circle bars put together... etc etc.... If you notice all of the lines are equal in width and they match... COPY THAT, BUT MAKE ALL OF THE BARS, SO DONT DRAW THE LETTERS IN ONE PIECE, DRAW EACH BAR INDIVIDUALLY AND MATCH THEM UP... Post that when you have it down perfect... DONT ADD ARROWS, BUMPS, SPIKES, ANYTHING!!!!

i used to use a lot of arrows too. One day i tried to do sketches without using one arrow so i could focus on the letters, did that for a long time. Now i cant put arrows in. I think they make my sketches look cheesey, or toy. They look good in everyone elses though.

plynko seems too long.. i'd start out with deko because its shorter, just until you get use to painting and shit... and understand how it works.. it takes a couple hours to do a decent piece with about 4 letters... and thats with a fairly simple letter structure too...

1.Vanashing point. Put a dot some hwere on the page make lines on every corner so it meets to that line.
