You guys need to put more emphasis on your handstyles, you can work for weeks on a sketch and make it look all nice and pretty, but if that handstyle next to it is broke, it just lets us know your a toy who trys too hard. Also, developing your tag will help your letters overall, TRUST ME!

This'll be hard to explain, but see the far left part of the R how it curves? Try making it curve in the other direction. Also, I don't like how the top of the S intersects with the bottom curve. Also, try making your letters "balanced" by making the middle parts of the letters line up, kinda like this:

yo chili the top one aint to bad, its def. an improvement for you, the bottom blockletters im glad you did them because they're full of mistakes, but learn from your mistakes, heres some quick tips....
1.sitck with all lower case or all upper case for now, it'll make it easier to develop your own style...
2. look at the proportions, make sure you keep thickness as constant as possible if the letter calls for it, your H is too wide, and your C looks messed up, ill show you in the pic below what i mean... your i's even though lower case are a bit too thin, if your gonna use lowercase next to uppercase for i' and l's make them just a bit thicker so it doesnt look as awkward...
3. forget shadows and 3D effects for right now, just focus on form and creating a handstyle, i have tips for that too...

For your handstyle think rounder man and let if flow, sure its cool to have sharp corners here n there but its gotta look like it flows man, here are sum suggestions for ya...

Then I gave him nothing but genuine advice...in fact someone gave tha advice to me quite a few months back...and thats the best advice i've personally ever had. Practice is the key...I've wacked out sketches every day for months...and why? Because I love drawing and ya can see how ya style and letter form develops by every sketch you do.

So if ya heart ain't in it, I feel it becomes difficult to get better tha quickly or at all...if ya genuinely want to get better ya just gota just keep on sketching...

I ain't saying i'm tha best or I know exactly what im talking about cus I'm still toy, but you ask any xperienced writer and he'll say practice is tha key...;)

Ras, i see you took some of my advice and it worked. On your next sketch i would suggest making the bottom right part of the S the same size and proportion as the top right part of the R. This will really make it better.

Gen, your doing allot of interesting things with some of those letters. I like that, it’s extremely important. However, there are many things that just aren't working at all. The main issue is proportions. If you’re trying to make a straight edge of a letter, really try and make it straight. Also, be mindful of were you put your little jagged edges. This is a very common mistake among beginners. When beginners see a nice burner, they see allot of edges, and funky sharp corners. Don't just randomly put little jags here and there and think you’re gonna have style. The style comes from the characteristics of the lines that form the letters, letters that are most likely proportional.

Another thing is your 3D is way off. Try looking at a bookshelf, or a table. Notice the perspective from different angles. Understanding an actual 3D object will, of course, help you render a 3D object proportionally.

Yea must say man, thats very true. There's limitations to tha advice ya can get off here...if you see someone talk ya through doing a sick outline, nothing beats tha. Get out there in tha big wide world. Thats were graff belongs not on this site. yea, u got the right idea, to start simple.

just keep workin on that style and u will clean it up and perfect it on your own
dont try adding crazy extensions and arrows for a long time, just keep workin at what u have right there

work on the bottom of the U, the S is a bit too wide, the E in one go with upper case, try the E i used, you can find it on page 237 of this thread i think, if not its around there, but theres only 1 where i actually spelled the word 'one' try an E like that.

SESU you've got the right idea. I would be feelin tha but a couple of thins let it down.

1st of all the colours are great but probably shoulda just left it with a solid black 3D. Also the arrows i think would be ok, if you had pulled them off, but they just look wrong. Especially on the S's.

You've got kinda the idea of the highlights, however I feel theres highlghts in some places on letter and not on others, it not consistent throughout the piece. But thats definitely a minor point, coz you've definitly got the idea. other than tha it looks good!

Then I gave him nothing but genuine advice...in fact someone gave tha advice to me quite a few months back...and thats the best advice i've personally ever had. Practice is the key...I've wacked out sketches every day for months...and why? Because I love drawing and ya can see how ya style and letter form develops by every sketch you do.

So if ya heart ain't in it, I feel it becomes difficult to get better tha quickly or at all...if ya genuinely want to get better ya just gota just keep on sketching...

I ain't saying i'm tha best or I know exactly what im talking about cus I'm still toy, but you ask any xperienced writer and he'll say practice is tha key...;)

CHILI - dont bite the style, youll never develope your own identity like that, biting some1 else's style wont necesarily help you improve, do as I said, get the basics down, simple block letters, start working on different view angles on those letters then you'll begin to notice things about letters you never saw before

I posted this a while back, but i think alot of you could use this advice

Gen, your doing allot of interesting things with some of those letters. I like that, it’s extremely important. However, there are many things that just aren't working at all. The main issue is proportions. If you’re trying to make a straight edge of a letter, really try and make it straight. Also, be mindful of were you put your little jagged edges. This is a very common mistake among beginners. When beginners see a nice burner, they see allot of edges, and funky sharp corners. Don't just randomly put little jags here and there and think you’re gonna have style. The style comes from the characteristics of the lines that form the letters, letters that are most likely proportional.

Another thing is your 3D is way off. Try looking at a bookshelf, or a table. Notice the perspective from different angles. Understanding an actual 3D object will, of course, help you render a 3D object proportionally.

I like the name "chili". Has a nice sound to it, kinda quirky too. Also my favorite soup. However you may be better off spelling it "chile" like the country. You can make the "e" kinda finish off the word.

Its good except for the fact that you think out your letters in order to get larger shadows, Also you bent your E at the top in order to get a shadow, if you do this then you have to do it to the whole piece in order to make it flow. Thats just my opinion i'm nobody though just another retard with a marker.
