allright haters, come out and have your fun. last night there was a party in our abandoned subway system. they had djs set up, a generator, and a bunch of us went down to paint. i decided to do a dupe bubble piece,and went way too fucking big. too fucking big for my sloppy ass can control. also, the walls ate paint like a son of a bitch. so my lack of skill with a can, was even more handicap. i'd be trying to throw up the outline,and i'd watch the paint disappear behind my can. it was a good time though, and i can't wait for the next one. i personally think the piece looks like a fucking circus chimp put down his cigarette and picked up a can --but i figured i'd still post it for the rest of the toy squad.

my girl did a piece as well. she doesn't even follow graff, has never picked up a can, and has never worked with letter structure. she just wanted to keep a female friend of ours company, while she painted. the testosterone level was pretty damn high. i was psyched with what she put up, giving the fact that she doesn't know enough about graff to really be judged by anyone.

supacola --here's what you need to do. go out and buy yourself a roll of paper. you can get it in many sizes. it's usually a thin sheet. then you want to go and get yourself a thing of wallpaper glue. mix that up with a little water, and you've got paste. look on line for wheat paste recipes if you're really interested. then what you want to do is draw out your piece on pieces of paper. you can go big or small --it's all up to you. cut your shit out, roll it up, go to the spot you want to vandalize, put a little paste up, put up your peice, then paste over it until it's up good and solid. i mostly do stickers and wheat pastes, cans are new to me. the shit is fun man, go out and get yours now.

so what do you think. this is the first time i've put stuff up on the web, i can take some critcism, i know some of it's toyish, but im really looking for some tips on how to improve..this can either be the worst place to do that, or a good place..

pilotnerd ya shit is quite dope, i like the fills and all that. I gotta say though u should work on letter structure, it aint bad but it could be better (i assume u kno this and dats y ur postin here). Ur past the very basics obviously but u need to work on ur style(s), easiest way to do that is ask urself these 3 questions- does each letter look sick on its own? do the letters look like theyr part of the same style when they're not next to each other? does the piece look dope minus fill (Jus clean black lines)? if no to any of these you got work to do. just be honest with ursefl and put ur shit next to dope artists when u tryin to decide if it makes the cut or not. im doin the same shit now and it def works, just start from a simple and tweak it till the flow is just right for each letter, then do simple pieces then go all crazy with fills and shit. best way i kno to build style. peace

OK FIRST OFF, your drawing skills in general are shit, Learn to make straight lines, cut the arrows out.. all of them. and go to simples, if you would read back on what others posted, they all got the same shit. since they bleed so much u have to compensate for the bleeding by either having better sketchpad paper or by carefully coloring to make up for bleeding or by using better markers :-p make sure your hand is steady but actually sometimes i will just use a thin sharpie to outline and ill use some cheapo markers like crayolas to do the fill they actually are not as bad as u might think also when u are filling make sure u color it in the same motions so it doesnt look blotchy

for example this was done with thin sharpie for outline, crayola markers for fill (CHERRY SCENTED BIOTCHES) and i just used a white colored pencil for the white hilites

CRAZ E --you're young man, not A young MAN --just straight fucking young. your short guys are still fresh. get a hold of them, realize what you're putting down on that paper man. my only crit for you is to start studying graff, and grab a good grasp on what the style of letters, characters, techniques, cultures (global styles differ) all mean --stick your fucking dick in this shit and fuck the hell out of it before you sit down and work on shaky ass pencil letters. get influenced by those ahead of you, and go from there. steady your line, don't push down so hard --you're not retarded are you? i hope not, but only retards kung fu grip a pencil and scribble that fucking hard. use light lines on that paper, draw an idea of what you want to do, then go in and thicken your lines. take simple letters, start there (FUCK!!!!), learn how to do block letters. once you get that down, we (the thread) can start to help you out.

umm this was a decent attempt at 3d but you failed at the most important part which is letter structure, your first 2 letters are "joined" together and then you got the other dudes chilling behind it, which wouldnt fly even in the traditional sense. Keep all your letters seperated and try to keep a consistent overall shape or structure, dont blend letters together until you know what your doing-

But yeah, like Earl said Craze, check out graf. I have a folder in My Pictures with over two hundred different throw-ups, pieces, etc… and I have a book called stylefile of all different types of blackbook work and another book called Graffiti Women by Nicholas Ganz I think his name is… I just read that shit til all hours of the night… studying and copying and shit. It helps a shitload.

alright MAZ, i've got your shit done. i took some photos to show the progression of it.

first photo was the outline. i did it with pencil, then went over it with a 01 micron pen.

i asked because i was curious to see how old you were. i figured you were young. i already posted a response to your answer. i'll repost it here though:

CRAZ E --you're young man, not "A" young "MAN" --just straight fucking young. your short guys are still fresh. get a hold of them, realize what you're putting down on that paper man. my only crit for you is to start studying graff, and grab a good grasp on what the style of letters, characters, techniques, cultures (global styles differ) all mean --stick your fucking dick in this shit and fuck the hell out of it before you sit down and work on shaky ass pencil letters. get influenced by those ahead of you, and go from there. steady your line, don't push down so hard --you're not retarded are you? i hope not, but only retards kung fu grip a pencil and scribble that fucking hard. use light lines on that paper, draw an idea of what you want to do, then go in and thicken your lines. take simple letters, start there (FUCK!!!!), learn how to do block letters. once you get that down, we (the thread) can start to help you out.


i see in your latest post that you have a crew? why? you and your friends should stop playing make believe, and start putting some hard time into your books. you need to seriously step everything up a whole lot of notches before you can say you're in a "GRAFF CREW." too many young kids today have the wrong idea about graff. it's like the young buck skaters i used to see. they all learned how to kickflip, before they could even ollie. you've got a shitload to learn man. and don't listen to what MTV and mark ecko's "getting up" is telling you. don't give a shit about any of the shit you think makes you a graffiti artist. just give a shit about what you can do with your pencil right now, to possibly become one.

craz E --what i meant by the monkey grip pencil technique, it just looks like you're putting too much pressure in your pencil. you need to lighten up a little and try to keep a sharp point on that thing. also, keep your lines straight and consistent. pay attention to that stuff, and work with the simples. look at your posts, and notice how the lines and letters aren't really consistent. definitely keep looking at graff, and pay close attention to the details. that shit will inspire your own work. like we all keep saying, work on your simples and tighten up on the control of your pencil.

even i have to go back to working on simples, so never give up man. keep on going at it. one thing you've got going for you right now, is that you are young. put some hard work into it, and let time take it's toll. good luck man.

WEASE-- keep doing that black and silver block one. change up your colors, then start to work with the direction of the color i the 3D. i don't know how to put it. look at the 3D in some pieces. you'll see how people accent it with different shit. work on that piece up there a few more times, then start playing with it. does that make any sense? also, good to see you're attempting throwies.

vertigo --are you having fun doing this? if so, keep at it. the nyeve piece is the best one of the three (if you ask me). the first one doesn't work though. the characters below don't work. the miniscule holes in the e and p don't work. the colors are kind of off. you might want to add a darker green outline on the whole 3D --kind of like the red outline on the nyeve. the second one needs to be cleaned up. i'd do that with just pencil and ink a few more times. try and clean it up.
