definatly looked like a k to me it was that lil bump on the end of it that hooks up the cross bar in the centre really to me it looks like a K maybe sort out the last leg on the h then we can get started same as i have to sort out the t on the duct but dnt see why i should bother cus its only wiggle bite.

- keep the letters not connected
- keep letters same width/height all over
- decent fill
- get rid of that big circle

If anyones looking for advice to speed up the "style" process, start just practicing straight lines and circles. It sounds simple, but try and you will see. Drawing perfect circles and lines will give you insight into why the best writers are respected for their work. Try drawing your name in any font on Word perfectly by hand. Not so easy is it.

My mentor taught me this years ago, and I still follow these rules. Lines and circles are the basis for any well written type.

i suggest, as i have many times before, downloading fonts and printing them out with the letters you want to use. and then try to copy them.. just make them larger obviously. it will give you a better understanding as to how the different bars on a letter relate to the other bars.

I dont agree at all man. Out of the all the people around where I live, I know one other person that writes. ONE. My city has a population of like 25,000 That makes TWO people. Maybe its like that in the states or something, but here in Canada, its not the same, eh. (well that I know for.)

Apostle I think what he's saying is that you need to be sketching quite a bit more before your shit is ready for this site. You're already doing simples, but sketch for another month or so and then post something a bit more refined so that more constructive criticism can be offered. Right now there are so many things wrong that it is really hard to do much else than insult it. If you've got any degree of artistic talent in you you'll know when something looks good or bad, if you think its bad in any way just don't bother posting it here. You won't get any useful information out of it.

not too bad...looks like you're on the right track with the simples.
I would say...get rid of all your connections...not really ready for that yet.
stick to only two colors.
make sure your bars are a consistent width.
and work on a simple drop shadow.
Keep a steady hand and a critical eye.

you folks need to realize that if ur juss starting u need to work on ur basics like in anything else....people that have never busted a can shot on the streets should not be trying to do pieces on paper...the easiest way to get good is practice ur tag all the fucking time and try using other peoples letters and change them to fit into your word but start off simple and then do more compex after prolly more then a year you will have a tag that might not make good writers vomit and after about 2 years your handstyle should be good enough to put up...dont try and rock fills or pieces yet but juss get ur word out there and recognized so people will see it....then once ur hands are good(simple letters can be much better then a failed attempt at complex ones) then start to do simple buble letter hollows and develop on that and once you start to paint in chill spots and do pieces and shit do it frequently and push your style and make the style you take from the shit you see and make it into your own so that no matter what word your write in a tag hollow fill piece or whatever make it so that people who can identify that thats you because u have a unique enough style...at this point is where u have earned respect and ur recognition will go up the more you bomb

yeah, starting simple is good and really the way to go....i started off trying wild shit and it seems like just now after all these years...12....that i really realized that straight letters are the basis of graf...now for some people its what you make it but if you want to bomb up and have a good reputaion then start off like you got some sense and do straight tags with flares and bomb up traditional throw ups and do straight letters like this one...As youre style progresses it will be a natural progression into your own style...take cues from guys like baTes or grey CyCle etc.......These guys can do insane wild letters but rock the hardest straight letters...really straight letters are not that hard to do...copy from other writers and learn from GrAF history...and draw a lot!

I'm not one to quote images, because it's retarded but in this case we're on a new page and I need the image to make my point.

I think if you tighten up your letters and really play one off the other... you'll have something. I also think you're doing yourself some harm by making your lines all jagged and broke like that. Smoother lines add flow, especially with this kind of style.

The arrows... the normal purpose of arrows is to push away other writers work. You want to sepreate yourself from them so the "motion" of the arrow is pushing the next guy away. Having arrows come inward is self destructive. Seems silly, I know but think about it.

When you're trying to pull off the Rorshach (or however you spell it) mirrored image thing... take it all the way. Start with your center letter and work your way out. Whatever you do on the left side, mirror it on the right. For example, your right side E could be backwards to look like a 3. Writers will know it's not a three because of the obvious mirrored pattern you have in your piece. They'll recognize that it's a backwards E. You could also have your arrows coming off the side bars of the V. You could have two arrows coming down the bars and out to each side. I wouldn't even sweat the arrows up top. Too much and not needed. The bottom ones will hold the weight of your piece.

actually, it is. What you want to do is try to keep the width of each letter constant.

its definately a step in the right direction, take cracks advice about the hole size, it kinda falls together if you think of each leg of a capital A as a bar, and the middle too, keep the "bars" the same width generally, and shit will look way better. also try to avoid squigling the bars, simple curves angles and straight lines can turn out to be dope
