Secret Service agent sent home from Fargo won't be charged
Associated Press
FARGO, N.D. - No charges will be filed against a Secret Service agent who was sent home after allegedly getting drunk at a bar here the night before President Bush appeared in the city.
Cass County State's Attorney Birch Burdick said Tuesday that there is not enough evidence to prosecute the agent.
The man allegedly left a gas mask behind at the Holiday Inn bar and later was suspected of setting off the hotel's fire alarms while police were there.
Assistant State's Attorney Aaron Birst, the lead prosecutor on the case, said no one actually saw the agent pull the alarm.
The incident happened Feb. 2, the day before Bush spoke in front of 7,000 people at North Dakota State University to promote his Social Security plan.
