Russian ekranoplanes, these planes flew just up to 20 feet above sea level, and could fly over land once they were airborne, but it was dangerous. They were usually armed with 6 big ass missiles, and a fleet of them would pack a punch.

These concepts were created in hopes to use the Earth's oceans for space launches: keep in mind that launching close to equator allows for 1.7 - 2 times heavier payload. The Sea-Launch project is already in full swing (facilitating vertical launches), however for the Shuttle-like horizontal launches and landings, Russian engineers propose to use a fleet of heavy ekranoplans:

I imagine the ship has some sort of ballast system that allows it to submerge slightly then the radar thing can be maneuvered on top of the platform then it surfaces again. Only thing I can think of.

A favela is what they call one of these housing clusters. They are pretty much just the slums of Brazil and theres a lot of gang activity within. Heres a documentary on gang life in Rio where they meet the gangs of the favelas. Check some other episodes of Ross Kemp on Gangs if youve never heard of it, he goes around to different cities interviewing the hardest gangsters he can find.

The cheap CMOS sensor of an iPhone does not expose the whole thing at once, it scans from left to right. If you take a picture of something that moves very fast (like an airplane prop) you can get some crazy pictures out of it since each column represents a slightly different time.
