These special arthropods (stomatopods) have 16 visual pigments! We only have four, and we can see millions of colors. Their vision is hyperspectral, they can see ultraviolet and infrared wavelengths, as well as polarized light. They have 360 degree vision and three parts of each eye can focus on the same spot, so each individual eye has trinocular vision with depth perception. They have a very large focal range and the eyes can emit light, which is used for communication.

They have the most complex visual organs on the planet.

These special arthropods (stomatopods) have 16 visual pigments! We only have four, and we can see millions of colors. Their vision is hyperspectral, they can see ultraviolet and infrared wavelengths, as well as polarized light. They have 360 degree vision and three parts of each eye can focus on the same spot, so each individual eye has trinocular vision with depth perception. They have a very large focal range and the eyes can emit light, which is used for communication.

They have the most complex visual organs on the planet.

They also have the fastest strike/claws of any animal. The incredible vision is partly so they can accurately steal on prey from close range at the speed of a .22.

I agree, but it's borderline a great picture, not in quality. but it's a real life mario and luigi by total chance. that's fucking awesome and a picture I would show friends saying look how great this picture I got is. High def, macros, and war is the status quo so lots doesn't measure up.

Edit: I've also been a stickler for quality in this thread. shame on me.

I know how to set up my shutter speed to make pics like that Red one, but i could never understand or know how to maintain focus on some of the things, like that person in the bottom.

If i take a pic like that, any moving objects will be blurry. All i can think of is the shutter speed was set to a low number, while the moving object was moving fast, still wondering what that moving object is.

i dont think its a car.

Edit* oh, now i realize it was in the snow. still dont think its a vehicle of some sort.

skiiers/snowboarders with flares. they do it all the time here for the olympics and stuff. every night last year for two and a half weeks.

The person was just standing still. Of course you could use flash in the foreground to catch a moving target but that'd create a very different mood.

On my camera, its the Twilight Portrait that does that effect with the flash and Shutter speed Setting. Taking pictures without the flash is challenging, that is why that pic is a great pic.

i use to have a similar AIWA - they made the best fucking walk-mans...
that auto reverse feature was the best, since you didn't have to flip the tape.

all the big building in the foreground are still there. I agree, tearing down old ornate buildings sucks, but if it's just some crappy old building they're awesome when renovated inside, to be all modern and the exterior is left.

Dec 16th 1960, two planes collided over Brooklyn. One landed in Park Slope (killing all on board as well as 6 people on the ground) the other in Staten Island. This is from the corner of 7th Avenue and Sterling Place (on 7th ave) in Park Slope. Looks like something from WWII
