Burlington Northern railroad is being sold

NEW YORK (AP) - Warren Buffet's Berkshire Hathaway says it has agreed to buy Burlington Northern Santa Fe in a deal valuing the railroad at $34 billion.

Berkshire Hathaway Inc. already owns a stake of about 22 percent in Burlington Northern, and says it will pay $100 a share for the rest of the company.

The deal announced Tuesday has been approved by the boards of both companies.

It would be the biggest acquisition ever for Berkshire Hathaway Inc.

BNSF security is tight but from what I hear from a lot of workers...They don't too much care about writers.

BNSF and Union Pacific are my favorites, though.

this changes nothing operationally. it means one investor went from 26% ownership to 100% ownership. its not a merger or takeover. its a good thing for the future of rail in north america, but for writers it means nada.

Oh, and no, its the same company, different owner, security will stay the same, engines and shit will stay the same too. Next time you see a sign at subway that says "under new management" you can assume they still sell sandwiches and use the same logo
