Vergudo your doing 3.5 miles, 4 times a day? Damn thats solid dude
Also I gotta spread rep around before I can reprop you 2 lads
the first month was horrible. i had no kind of stamina. my body is now getting used to it. every week im cutting my time down. i ordered my weight vest online, hopefully i'll be able to drop to 200 quicker than normal.
My very first pistol was a cap and ball Colt
Shoot as fast as lightnin' but it loads a mite slow
Loads a mite slow and i soon found out
It can get you into trouble but it can't get you out
So then I went and bought myself a Colt 45
Called a peacemaker but I never knew why
Never knew why, I didn't understand
Cause Mama said the pistol is the devil's right hand
in july i weighed in at 226 lbs. today i weighed in at 207 lbs. just been running 3.5 miles 4 times a day, cut out a lot of sugar and started eating healthier. havent cut out fast food completely, but i dont eat it a few times a week like i used to. i probably get junk food once every 2 weeks. i wanna get down to 200 lbs and then start hitting weights.
gasfacevictim is going to tell u to do squats.
u should
I am going to tell you to do squats, but first, congrats on the weight loss and dedication.
Don't put the weight training off.
Start it today.
Is stamina and cardio really important to you?
I only ask because I believe stamina is very easily achieved by doing less long distance time consuming work.
I also am a firm believer in strength training above all else if you are not morbidly obese, which you aren't and even if you were it isn't harmful.
You will burn fat for hours after a sprint session or a heavy compound lift session than you will from a long slow distance run which will usually only burn calories during the activity itself or for minimal time afterwards.
Just food for thought.
Keep up the good work and jump on any beginner 5x5 program like stronglifts or starting strength.
Both are online and free.
Build a solid foundation.
Progressive overload.
Get strong.
Eat well--------protein city.
Your body will change itself if you do that shit.
SKWAT UNTIL YOU CAN'T BREATH.

I don't have a gym membership and only have dumbbells and a pullup bar. I've only been doing bodyweight exercises and want to know good compound exercises that I can do with dumbbells. What do?

I take it Gasface likes Squats. I been doing em a bit but mostly just running until I can do real sports again. Vergudo how do u manage to run that much? I run a few miles, stretch out good before and after but sometimes my knees cruel me the day after

You'll get that shit back fast, mang.
I started doing a lot of mobility bullshit every day and foam rolling like every other day.
Everything has improved due to these things.

I'm on the mend, been swimming and riding heaps and doing a fair bit of callesthenics and chin ups etc. As well as good anger management it helps clear my mind heaps.
Does anyone here get into Yoga or Pilates? I used to do Pilates once/twice a week and it was great for my severly fukd back. I tried hot yoga a few times but then moved and haven't picked it up again. Whats with the 101 different varients of Yoga? Is there really that much difference between em and is there like a common base that they all work off?

A little situation here...
So, I took a break from creatine for about 2 months and recently just got back into it. And by recently, I mean yesterday. Took it during the day before my workout, so far so good... but once I got home, I felt fucking nauseous.
Now Im sitting here on my day off feeling bloated than usual.
What the fuck?

About the yoga.
I think it's basically like choosing a gym or a trainer, man.
Just make sure the place you go to knows what the fuck they are talking about and doing.
Do some research and make sure they aren't just making you go thru the motions of some shitty yoga video they make instructors watch before teaching classes.

slow an steady. i had to get my body used to running that much. i couldn't run that much at first. i would do a steady pace for about 1/4 mile, then walk about an 1/8th then run for another 1/4 mile then walk... eventually i was able to do 1/2 mile then walk 1/8th. the distance just kept building up. im out usually after 8pm, when the weather is colder, so it can keep my body cool, and im able to go longer without getting as tired as i would if i would run in the afternoon.
on another note, im down to 202.9. weighed myself last week.

I'm at a real dilemma due to illness a few months ago I've been finding it ridiculously hard to eat meat and keep it down same goes for near enough any thick cooked food.
So I've been living off my protein shakes twice a day (synergy) and doing mainly body weight exercise to stop my self getting fat. Anyway on with the issue of eating I'm thinking of basically dropping out all fatty weighty food from my diet and just eating fresh fruit, oats, water and juices.
As healthy as this sounds I'm sure there are some negative sides to doing this. Just asking for some info/help on this subject.

Honestly doesn't sound that healthy, dude.
Sounds like the Velocity Diet.

i was actually reading about side effects from creatine just like this, today. i have heard it can start out like that in the beginning but go away, then again i have heard some people with sensitive stomachs just shouldn't use it. i just started another cycle today after being off of it for almost 6 months. also, what brand are you using? is it a creatine monohydrate? as in the only ingredient being creatine? no weird sugars or flavors or whatever.
I've been training for a quite a while though. Probably 10 years including some pretty hefty breaks. With a focus on strength for about 3.
What's your ratio bruz?
Also, I think I remember you saying you were starting 5/3/1, hows that playing out?
Since I've been training with that method, I reckon I at least halved my time spent training and am constantly pushing PRs. I'm a huge fan.
Best I have ever put up was like 1.25 my bodyweight without having to grind it out and have my form crumble under the weight.
It's odd to me that I can deadlift almost twice my bodyweight, but squatting just makes me work for every pound no matter what.
That was during 5x5 though and squatting 3 times a week was burning me out hard.
531 is much nicer to me so far.
I'm on my second cycle right now and really like it.
It's too simple to fuck up.

i would think squatting 3 times a week would be good for nothing but burning out your body, in a bad way. twice a week at most is what i do, that's if im going to the gym 5 or 6 days a week with my regular routine.
would a somewhat crappy back posture/physique (as in me having borderline scoliosis) hinder squatting much? the most i have done is my body weight, without a lifting belt, but i really don't want to go any heavier in fear of tweaking out my back
.

Yeah I'm pretty sure my internals are wrecked man a good 2 years of drinking and drugs with on and off healthy eating etc.. I'm thinking I need to put my drinking in check and stick to weed( I know, I know) trying to eat healthy is easy now so diets not an issue had to put the gym on hold for the last 3 months due to money problems so I've been limited. Me and the homeboy are probably just going to set up at his place.
Should really see a doctor though haha.
Also thanks to you and a few others in this thread for giving me some advice way back.

^^^If you don't feel like death then I guess not.
I'd just be wary of a juice/shake type diet because you might end up losing muscle if you're not careful about eating enough protein and such.

I have no idea about your back, man.
You should check out some of the subreddits on Reddit.
Tons of info in those about all kinds of various subjects.
More than likely something about scoliosis and general back issues with squatting and loading.
Tnation as well & Eric Cressey's blog has tons of articles on mobility and loading issues related to pre-existing injuries or issues.

yeah, i dunno. i'll try to find some articles and stuff, but for now i think if i stay within limits it's fine. my back is never sore from squatting, so i assume that's a good sign.

Listen, you don't even need to use weights to get brutal workouts for your legs. I do stability ball squats till my legs are on fire. Put the stability ball against the wall and rest your lower back against it with feet slightly out in front and do a squat movement till your legs are burning. This will help your core muscles also, which support your back. I'll also hold the stability ball out in front of me and do lunges across the gym till I fatigue. Finally, since the legs are the largest muscle group in the body I'd only trash them twice a week- depending on whether your legs have recovered from your last workout.
Maybe try the Hack Sled. It stabilizes your back so you can focus your squat on your legs w/out loading your back up.
Don't focus on how much you can lift. Focus on technique and quality and you're fine.

thanks for the tip. my main focus is not how much weight i can do, i just wish my natural posture from having (almost) scoliosis didn't hinder my actual lifting weight. regardless, last time i worked out lower body i focused most of the work out on the hack squat for 4 or 5 sets then tried to burn out with regular squats (light weight) for 3 sets. definitely felt it more the next day than usual
