ok ..on to health care ..it is not a right for the citizens of our country have health care ..you do not deserve it period . its gonna drain us down economically even further ..even worse health care is gonna have so much more red tape than it does now being that it will be a government run business .bureaucrats running this system being over paid and under performing just like the education system ,they just throw more money at a problem & maybe the problem will just go away .... .then there is the end of life discussion ...when a doctor is gonna tell that you cost to much to keep alive or are too old and there just gonna let you die ... no thanks thats not the world i wanna live in ...

See, here's the thing... these are a bunch more CLAIMS with NO BACK UP! You can only tell us what's going to happen but you can't explain why. Arguably, this is where it all began. With Richard Nixon (Republican) playing dirty pool with his cronies in the White House. It's all been well documented (with some gaps....thanks, Dick.) Anyway, EHRLICHMAN AND NIXON EXPLICITLY STATED THAT THEY FOUND KAISER'S PRIVATIZED LESS CARE=MORE PROFIT MODEL FAVORABLE.
Have you ever actually TRIED to get anything beyond basic outpatient care or generic drugs out of Kaiser without having to get on a waiting list or flat out denied? It doesn't fucking happen. They THRIVE on red tape and stalling out their customers. AND YOU PAY THEM FOR THIS. Once again, with emphasis- THIS IS THE PRIVATIZED LARGE SCALE HEALTH CARE MODEL THE REPUBLICANS SUPPORTED.
And they promptly forgot about that until every so often when someone comes along and says, "Hey, this isn't working at all, this is insane, people are living in pain and dying and dealing with chronic illnesses that aren't getting treated because IT'S NOT PROFITABLE."
However, they predict that if the government steps in, all kinds of predictions of denial of care and delays and medical mishaps (oh wait, all that shit happens now, my bad) and it's fascism and socialism and we're marching down the Red Road of Communism. Now, I also have some very big reservations about the state stepping into this...the most pressing one is "How big of a revamp and how fast are we talking here?" If they try to roll out some radical reworking of healthcare in less than a few years, then it's gonna be fucked for a lot of people but I suspect that not much is going to change for those who already have insurance. If it's a long term plan or less far reaching on a shorter timetable and they bring in people who know what to do (OMG FOREIGN AGENTS FROM SOCIALIST COUNTRIES!!!!111!!1), it might actually work.
I still don't understand why people are opposed to some form of national healthcare on principle. It's like, are you just mean? Should we just shoot all the sick people and old people? After all, bullets are cheap and ovens are really easy to build.
If we're going to have fascism either way, I will gladly take the option with free health care. And I'll even go out and happily pay taxes and possibly volunteer to make it happen. Not because I'm a liberal but because denying people medical care or determining the quality of the care that they have to settle for solely based on their ability to pay is....well, it's not quite evil but it's goddamn close.

Yeah, don't let me mention the 5 years after the train wreck when I had to keep a stack of my medical papers next to the phone so I could literally shout down the Aetna collection agents who called me after bills they were obligated to pay. $22k they wanted to stab me for and I was fully covered. The craziest thing, at a dinner party one night I met this woman who worked as an Aetna adjuster and I just kind of spit out my story plus much venom. Turns out she was late for work while they scraped me off the rails and knew what they were foisting on me was bullshit. It was solved in 3 days, but if not for her I could never have what I do, they would still be chasing me on imaginary delinquent bills.
And just to point at 'socialism'... have I said this before? Have any of you looked at our school system? Govt. mandated, govt. funded, mandatory addmission and attendance, national curriculum standards, standardized testing, the SATs, College, who do these Commies think they're foolin'?

The one thing I DO like Obama is that he's at least willing to talk about new ideas and try to get some clue on where people stand. He might not jump when people say frog but I believe he's listening.
On the other hand, Bush would have been ecstatic if he could have had some kind of weird Born Again Christian police state with a press completely run by Rupert Murdoch...come to think of it, how do we know he wasn't just player hating on the Taliban for beating him to the punch?
So....one billion dollars going overseas when our auto industry is in the shitter. What could that money do elsewhere? I don't know...nearly balance the state budget in Alabama or Colorado or South Carolina or Washington. Or completely wipe it out in Hawaii, or Idaho, or Iowa, or Kansas, or Kentucky, or Louisiana, or Maine, or Mississippi, or Missouri, or New Hampshire, or New Mexico, or Oklahoma, or Oregon, or Rhode Island, or South Dakota, or Utah, or Vermont, or Wyoming...

I just wanted to show that this isn't entirely about Obama, not by a long shot. Corruption runs pretty deep in the US government, so being the president is basically being the head shit eater/face man. It's really a ceremonial job at best.
Bush didn't understand that, nor did he seem to understand that what his team was doing was highly unethical and immoral, and at times illegal....but somehow he managed to get off scot free. Nixon understood it and played the game damn well for a while, but then he made a few blunders that put him in the hot seat.

So where's your proof? Don't be bashful...feel free to cite some impartial evidence (NOT FOX) to support your claims.
I had to do this in high school when I was writing papers. I'd propose something, cough up a few citations and references, throw some of my own material in there, wrap it up with a conclusion...I used to get As and Bs on this shit, so I have some idea of what a good argument should sound like.

This is why I can't take the self-styled "Fox News conservatives" seriously. I give some credence to what casek, ILMB and AOD have to say because they actually base their positions on facts and evidence (most of the time) and seem to be living in the same world as I do (most of the time). And more often than not, it's interesting...once in a while it points me toward researching some subjects I might have never considered looking into.
But living in a paranoid world of weird grammar, unfounded claims, conspiracies and calling people "sheep" or "blind" or whatever when they say they don't agree or don't understand then saying "you just gotta believe this or you're JUST LIKE THE REST OF THEM"...that brings to mind schizophrenia, sleep deprivation, or both.
And "hyperbole?" Dude, COME ON....haven't you heard of Watergate? You, know, it actually happened over a few years in the 70s...a president resigned over it, people went to jail...look into it, it's crazy shit.

An easy first step to recovering this sub-forum would be bans for people who grossly miss-use punctuation.
