Rocawear Clothing and Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP), on behalf of DC Comics, have partnered to create a signature apparel collection that brings together the design perspective of Rocawear with the imagery and myth of Batman, the iconic Caped Crusader from Gotham City. The line, which will hit stores in conjunction with Warner Bros. Pictures' highly-anticipated, Summer 2005 theatrical release of Batman Begins, incorporates modern street-wear design with logos and graphics inspired by the upcoming film. This type of collaboration is a first for the influential clothing brand.
"Rocawear and Batman are a seamless match," said Damon Dash, CEO, Rocawear. "Batman is a character who is a child of the city, a self-made man who reinvents himself and lets nothing get in his way. We understand what he is all about. Batman is a casual, cool fashion brand and his unique traits fit perfectly into our line. We are looking forward to working with WBCP to add our own flavor to the mix with this exciting new collection."
Dan Romanelli, President, Warner Bros. Worldwide Consumer Products said: "Batman is not just a super hero, he is a lifestyle brand that embodies fashion. By partnering with Rocawear, we combine the super heroic style of Batman with Rocawear's street style to create a fashion-forward statement that sets the latest trend in apparel."
The Batman Begins-inspired collection by Rocawear will feature three distinct looks.
The first delivery, titled "Urban Legends," features jackets, wovens, pants and jeans with a distinctly "old school" feel featuring a palette of red, white, navy and gold. Fabrications include jersey, distressed denim from light to dark finishes, brushed tricot and cotton-poly blends.
The second delivery, "Gotham City" leans towards darker hues that incorporate more gray and black with pops of royal blue.
The third delivery, "I Am," is inspired by the look and feel of the industrial landscape portrayed in Batman Begins. Mixing modern and industrial looks, this delivery features jackets, hoodies, tees and button downs and adds iconography, as well as graphics centered on the theme "I Am Batman." Color wise this delivery is much darker with touches of gold and purple.
The Batman Begins infusion by Rocawear is scheduled for deliveries in May, June and July of 2005 and will be sold at better department and specialty stores.
Warner Bros. Consumer Products displayed the Batmobile from Batman Begins next to the Rocawear booth at the Magic tradeshow, between August 30th - September 2nd in Las Vegas.
Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins explores the origins of the Batman legend and The Dark Knight's emergence as a force for good in Gotham City. In the wake of his parents' murder, disillusioned industrial heir Bruce Wayne travels the world seeking the means to fight injustice and turn fear against those who prey on the fearful. He returns to Gotham and unveils his alter ego, Batman, a masked crusader who uses his strength, intellect and an array of high tech deceptions to fight the sinister forces that threaten the city. Warner Bros. Pictures will release the film, which is based on characters created by Bob Kane and published by DC Comics, worldwide in 2005.

<!--QuoteBegin-Weapon X@Mar 2 2005, 12:17 PM It's pretty nifty. The sort of merchandising that hasn't been done before. I remember when Tim Burton's Batman came out, there was hoodies and jackets, but not anything to this extent.
I don't think Roc-a-Wear is going to do to well in this venture, though. Unless the clothes are relatively cheap and the movie is absolutely amazing, why would anyone jump at the opportunity to buy this stuff?
Still, I wouldn't mind a belt buckle for novelty purposes.
batman is the jam! but rocawear (dispite the fact I like some of their designs) rocawear is just a hack urban street wear brand that is only in existance so that Jay-z can get more of peoples cash. I don't blame him though and I even have been caught up listening to some of his older stuff. But basiclly I don't think that Rocawear deserves the opprotunity to rep batman. seriouly;
"Fabrications include jersey, distressed denim from light to dark finishes, brushed tricot and cotton-poly blends"
Wow real original real effort a whole lot of design consideration and creativity over at rocawear!
Design meetings go like this: HOW CAN WE GET PAID OFF a stupid american youth market. O i know give em shit they can already get at the gap for 5x's the price but put or name on the tag, yes yes
Anyway I hope the new bruce wayne movie is good.....my$.02
I remember the first time I got caught shoplifting by my mom was when I was nine years old - for Batman (the movie) merchandise. Kids are going to eat this stuff up. I think pre-teens and 'tweens' are the people to market towards when trying to make more than just a buck.
I've never worn anything Rocawear before (non-athletic clothes that can be purchased at Foot Locker or Athlete's World are not my thing), but a nice golf shirt with a Batman logo on it might look pretty nice.
"What party can you go to, and I ain't there;
You bitches acting like you don't care."
THTHTHTH
I saw a pic once of the guys from the clipse wearing airbrushed
t-shirts with Looney Toon Characters on it. To be specific, hiphop
versions of Bugs and Taz. Shit blew my mind..... 'why?????'
and i really just dont get it. although.. if it became cool to dress like batman.. and go to work like that.. shiiit.. id have my cape and batarang. just wouldnt want my cape getting stuck in the doors on the subway.

I've been trying to get more on the line of clothes for the Rocawear Batman range but at thge momnert it seems like they havent releaesed anything. There was a sighting of some of the gear at Magic in the States (fashion show) but no images so far. Given the nature and storyline of the film I'd expect the Rocawear range to be very urban, zip tops and hoodies and more baggy than fitted. That fits in well with a rugged lofi feel to the begining of the Bats legend (think of what Bruce wore when he went out on his first bit of crime fighting in Year One).
I'm looking forward to the movie both from a personal and fanboy point of view.
Roll on June.
