Went to the Esteban Vicente opening at the Grey Art Gallery at NYU the other night…This is one of the best shows I have been to in a long time.
A must see!

Concrete Improvisations is the first major American museum exhibition to pair collages and sculptures by the noted abstract painter Esteban Vicente. An influential teacher—he taught at Yale, Princeton, the University of Puerto Rico, the New York Studio School, and New York University— his students included Chuck Close and Mary Heilmann. Among his most important and lyrical contributions are his collages. Concrete Improvisations also features 20 intimate, small-scale sculptures (which he called divertimientos).
