Pardon Jack Johnson! Private Screening at Tribeca Grand Tomorrow Night

In the grand tradition of late-breaking but excellent No Mas events…
Please join us Wednesday night for a private screening of “Unforgiveable Blackness” (Part I: The Rise) to celebrate the life of Jack Johnson and to ask President Obama to clear his name.

July 4th will mark the 100th anniversary of the Fight of the Century and Johnson’s dismantling of Jefferies. Reno Nevada, site of the original fight, is hosting a rally to support of a Presidential Pardon for the trumped-up conviction of Johnson on the Mann Act, but we need to do our part in NYC.

In partnership with Barking Irons, we will also be unveiling a Pardon Jack Johnson t-shirt, with a portion of proceeds to benefit PBS, who supported the documentary that helped school us about one of our greatest sporting champions and social groundbreakers.

Jack Johnson refused to live by any compass but his own, suffered the consequences and ultimately helped changed the rules of race in American sport and society forever.

Join us in honoring his name and legacy.
