Where The Wild Things At?

It’s been a long while coming, with the reshoots and the rumors of a film too dark for the children it’s geared towards, but the roll-out for the Spike Jonze film adaptation of the Maurice Sendak book Where the Wild Things Are is finally starting. The poster is out. The trailer is scored by Arcade Fire. It’s looking amazing. I was talking with photographer and friend Ari Marcopoulos about it, he said that he had gone to visit the set in Australia and that he had had carte blanche on the set to take all sorts of behind-the-scenes shots… So what gives, Ari, when do we see that good stuff?
Speaking of Ari, here he is at a special Shabu Shabu/Repo Man dinner the other night, about to cut the whipped-cream dessert mouse into two halves.

Just a few minutes earlier he had offered to kill any actual animal that anyone might want killed, in case someone didn’t have the disposition to kill the animal themselves. “The Exterminating Angel,” although his nouveau bourgeois-ass did leave before the end of Repo Man. What a selfless prince, this guy. Unless, of course, you’re an animal. It was great to watch that movie again - it’s got its flaws, but you can’t mess with that soundtrack!
