It is with great sorrow I announce the passing of Mike Martin aka IZ The Wiz TMB. I’ve been told that IZ collapsed at his brother’s home
in Florida at around 3:00am Wednesday morning. He was rushed to the hospital, eventually succumbing to heart failure.
I’ve often said my 2 childhood hero’s were Muhammad Ali and IZ The Wiz. In my lifetime no one comes even close to accomplishing what
he’s done on trains. Back in 1984 I had the pleasure of meeting IZ for the first time at a Graffiti Fashion show at the Danceteria
in NYC. Needles to say I was in absolute awe.
This photo of IZ with Sizer Newave was taken that same night.
I considered IZ a friend and over the years he has been beyond generous to me, contributing photos, art and illustrations to my various print
endeavors. IZ epitomized the term “Graffiti Legend” but yet remained a truly humble soul. Mike I am fortunate to have known you, you will be
sorely missed. Rest in peace brother…

While digging through some things I have in storage I came across 4 shoe boxes full of (unpeeled) promo stickers, mostly from the
early - mid 90’s. Unfortunately the lighting in the storage facility wasn’t so great, I also didn’t have time to shoot everything and was
only able to snap what I could with the camera on my phone. That a side, looking at these images brings me back to a time when new
music (specifically hip-hop) was still exciting to me…

In spite of me posting the article in it’s entirety there’s nice slide show of images on the NY Times site which is definitely worth a
a look: http://lens.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/06/12/showcase-5/
Big thanks to KR

I caught up with Ghost last week to pick up a copy of the limited edition book he recently finished with Stussy. The images in the new book span more than 20+ years of work by Ghost. Everything from bombed subways, panel pieces, whole cars, clean trains, tags, throw ups, illustrations and commercial murals…The Ghost book retails for $20.00 and is now available at Stussy stores everywhere or online at Stussy Direct
