The Vandals (1972 )

Between 1962 – 1968 Andy Rooney and Harry Reasoner produced a series of investigative broadcast news essays for CBS. The format was relatively simple Andy Rooney wrote and directed while Reasoner eloquently handled the narration.
In the fall of 1968 Harry Reasoner teamed up with Mike Wallace to host the very fist season of 60 Minutes.  Rooney and Reasoner continued to work together even after Reasoner left CBS to co-anchoring the ABC evening news in 1970. Soon the 2 were also producing shows for ABC. Minus the irritable satire these programs were essentially longer-length versions of Rooney’s current end of the show segment which still airs on 60 Minutes.
