I recently pulled a few things out of storage. While digging in the crates I re-discovered a bunch of old Marvel comic books my cousin Ricky gave me when I was little. Ricky (R.I.P) was about 9-10 years older than me; his comic book collection was tight. I scanned this ad from a 1966 issue of Spiderman.
Seeing it again reminded me of the times I spent as a child day dreaming how I would one day rule the sea in a 7 foot Polaris Nuclear Sub… unfortunately my mom did not share my aquatic vision.

I have alot of comics from the 70’s, the ads back then were great.
Most of them are just how to gain weight and defend yourself from bully’s on the beach though.
sea monkeys anyone ?
Cool fuck’in sub ! Sea Monkeys use to weird me out as a kid. I later found out they were Brine shrimp eggs. They hatch when mixed with water.
I guess $6.98 was way too expensive for a seven foot, two kid capacity, periscope, and electrically lit instrument panel in 1966.
But then again, it could have been that you’d have to live in a house with a yard. Looks cool to me.
