New York, New York

Went up to the Park Avenue Armory last night with my wife to check out Ernesto Neto’s installation, anthropodino. .  It was also one of those nights when all you have is beer for dinner and a few handfuls of chips and a caipirinha for dessert….so I apologize about the blurry photos.
It’s something you have to see in person, it’s mind blowing.

Neto is a sculptor from Rio who totally transforms the space, which was interesting to view against the old dilapidated building, (yes there is a firing range in the basement.) Also peep the trophy rooms designed by Tiffany. The pendulant sacks as stated in the press release are filled with spices like clove, ginger, cumin and lavender just to name a few.  You can see how they are staining some of the cloth.  It is a great place to bring the kids, you are encouraged to touch, smell, sit and walk through it.  It’s worth the trip and all proceeds go back into renovating the Armory.

five stars.

Thanks for these great views beyond those in the Times.  The sense of plasticity in transformation of the military armory is really conveyed through your photos.  Also, the incredible spacial transformation comes through in relation to the size of the people you photographed there.  It looks and sounds from your description, like a really touchable, smellable, piece of work.  Wish I could be there before it goes.
