Yesterday was another Thanksgiving in New York. This year was specially amazing because two of my best friends took care of everything. In the morning my friend Peter hook me up with the best possible view of the classic Macy’s parade and then The Raven family did an amazing dinner for us. To add a cherry on the top of the cake, an empty subway car for the ride back home.

4 YEARS OLD OPINION ON OBAMA vs MC CAIN
My 4 years old daughter draw me this morning an amazing picture of the race to to the white house. She seems to speak more about Obama and Mc Cain than my wife and I. I believe the result of too much television news on her background and to many poster of Obey in the street of New York. I like her final statement: They both look like clowns.

My good friend Dj Myles hook me up with one of the best blog for the late 80’s early 90’s hip hop heads like me. Hours of videos, music & hip hop relics. Big Up to this crew from Toronto to put this together! Here is what they have to say:

Few weeks ago I went for a walk in Red Hook with my family. Getting closer to the Red Hook Ball Fields, we smell some amazing food fumes. Arriving at the corner of Clinton Street and Bay Street, we discovered about 10 trucks set up to sell some real authentic latin food and juice. Each truck represent a country of South America or Central America. You can get dope cheap food from Columbia, Honduras, Mexico, El Salvador,etc… My wife got some blazing Mexican steak tacos and I got some Salvadoran shrimp pupusas accompanied with a nice variety of veggie pickles. I discovered that the New York Times did a nice review about it. You can take the free shuttle bus or Boat to Ikea Brooklyn and just walk 3 blocks. You won’t regret it.

JOHN VARVATOS vs KR, CHINO, AMAZE AND MORE…
The other day I was walking with few friends on the Bowery when we passed in front of what used to be CBGB’s. The mythic place turned into a semi high fashion clothing store by John Varvatos. It reminded me of a Hard Rock Café with slightly more tatse. So sad to see another super prolific NY spot turning into an hygienic spotless museum window. The only good surprise was to see tags from fellow bloggers and other good writers still up against the unique preserved wall. If you swing by, there is plenty of wall to catch up tags. Just go and spread the love.

Few weeks ago my friend Brian Mackin was running around the office like a chicken with no head. The reason? He had a show few days later in Chicago and he was in the middle of a style book, a shooting for an ad campaign and whatever our lovely brand director Nardelli gave him to do. Brian Mackin is our art director at Zoo York for all the print material we need. On the top of doing his job mad tight, he is an incredible artist, calligrapher and human being. I was lucky to witness in few days and late nights his art coming together. The show was curated by the Fire Belly Design Studio at the Within (REASON) gallery in Chicago. Here is his motivation to do these pieces for the group show: “ The theme of the show was “change”. I wanted to stay away from the obvious, since in this election cycle the word is thrown around to the point that I’m almost numb to it. Topic of my work centered around labor struggles over time. It’s always been an interesting topic to me. While reading a portion of A Peoples History about many the numerous and massive labor uprisings around the 1870’s, it intrigued me how people were more willing to take action back then if they were getting shit on. Figuratively speaking of course. They stood up and took action to give us what we take for granted today. Everything from working conditions to the 40 hr. work week. My work was inspired by the battles between the have’s and the have not’s, the laborers and the masters, distribution of wealth and power, and simply taking advantage of the opportunity to live and make a difference before you check out.”

My friend Gorey did some great illustration for us at Zoo York. While working in the office, he brought an amazing black book from few years ago full of dope pieces. Gorey was born and raised in Paris, France in the mid seventies. He grew up while tags and pieces started to be all over subway cars and streets and started writing in his teenage years. He joined his first crew in 95, along with parisian writers such as: Astre, Mrn, Tkal and Tense: the Irie’s. He met O’clock in 98 and paired with him for a couple of years, couldn’t really stay on the same beat. Found pairs amongst the Cf, and enlarged the crew with Us and Swedish writers (Jeloe, Eksact). He used to spent a lot of time in his blackbook until he started illustration work. Here’s a bunch of pages from 05’ and 06’. Enjoy!
