No Mas x Cosmos

This article was posted by Grotesk 8 months, 4 days, 3 hours, 57 minutes ago.

After an insane Spring full of new exciting project, I am trying to come back on the blog sphere. Outside of my agency, I became partner with No Mas and we are about to launch a lot of new products. To kick it off,we joined the rebirth of the iconic NY Cosmos by releasing a classic 1977 tee.

Once and future king of US soccer, the New York Cosmos remain the iconic American franchise 25 years after their last home game. Founded in 1972, the Cosmos legend was truly born on June 10, 1975, the day they announced the signing of Pelé, immediately turning soccer from a New York afterthought to front page news. Over the next ten years, the Cosmos would win four championships, turn studio 54 into an extension of their clubhouse, and inspire a generation of New Yorkers to play the beautiful game. Inspired by lettering from a vintage program, this shirt pays tribute to the teamʼs 1977 championship run—a moment indelibly inscribed on the sporting memory of the greatest city in the world.

Today Gerard Smith bass player of TV on the radio passed away. Gerard was a great human being and a cool dad. We will miss him at the playground. My thought goes to his kid.

SPIRIT OF 73

This article was posted by Grotesk 10 months, 1 week, 3 days, 1 hour, 35 minutes ago.

My new agency was hired by NIke to create an graphic-art installation to celebrate the spirit of 1973 in New York at Nike Stadium on the Bowery. That year the Knicks won their last championship. With the arrival of Amare, Carmelo and Chauncey at the Garden the winning spirit is back again. Get the whole story here: Nike Stadium. Doubleday and Cartwright Art DIrector and 12oz contributor Max Vogel put the entire project together with the help of downtown fame and friends Todd Jordan and Jack Greer . Shout out to our home grown designer Trent to built great garment assets with the stadium MFG team. All photo y Todd Jordan ©2011

GAINSBOURG POUR TOUJOURS!

This article was posted by Grotesk 11 months, 1 week, 1 Day, 19 hours, 18 minutes ago.

20 years ago died my favorite french singer, composer and alcoholic gangster Serges Gainsbourg.

He was a true musical genius, a true provocateur and a lady’s man. Despite his ugly face he pretty much dated every possible hot french singer and actress from his time and made them record songs with him. He also flew to Jamaica and was the first french artist to record with legends Sly and Robby.

He also told a young Whitney Houston on prime time french TV that he wanted to fuck her and burnt some big French Bill on the world news to show what the government was gonna tax him.

Your music will last and inspire generation to come.

R.I.P. BLEU WHOLE CAR

This article was posted by Grotesk 11 months, 2 weeks, 6 days, 7 hours, 29 minutes ago.

It’s the worst possible thing on earth to loose a son. I was moved when I read tonight in the Gothamist that Tats Crew founder Nicer lost his son in a brutal manner last summer.  To quote the Gothamist article: The Tats Cru won’t be doing a mural of Bleu—member Davide Perre told Pavement Pieces, “I couldn’t paint his face,” and Sotero Ortiz said, “Yeah, I think I’d throw up.” Perre added, “We don’t need a memorial wall for Bleu. Every wall we do is for him.”

Rest in Peace BLEU

CARHARTT x GROTESK SPRING 2011

This article was posted by Grotesk 1 Year, 3 days, 1 hour, 24 minutes ago.

I had the chance to develop a great creative relationship with Carhartt Europe for the past year. My friends Tim (art director) and Arnaud (creative director) are doing an fantastic job to push the quality of the product every season. They also maintain a strong brand DNA and keep their language simple and straight to the point. I really liked to work with them because they know what they want. It’s rare to have a client that actually gives you amazing feedback that pushes you to go further in your creative process. Here is the first batch of graphics I have done for Spring/Summer 2011. More to come soon.
