Brooklyn, New York
I found the amazing piece of Brooklyn craft last month. This tiny toy was designed in Clinton Hill Brooklyn probably in the 30’s-40’s. I checked the address and a C-Town supermarket is now standing there… Different time. This is definitely a great piece of inspiration for product designer. Imagine this module made in new and light synthetic material standing in your tiny ass New York apartment as a bench that you can flip into a full temporary living room for your guest.

I always wanted to do a skateboard series for Zoo York using helicopter shot of the city. Since my shooting skill is real amateur level I turned to friend and legit photographer Alessandro “ZUEK” Simonetti to fly high in the Manhattan sky to bring back some amazing shots. I was not disappointed. With the help of Pete Panciera designer extraordinaire at Zoo York we put it to bed and sent it to production. The series is available at legit skate shop worldwide. More about the series here. Grazie Mille Zuek!

6 month ago I had the pleasure and honor to be invited by NIke to create my own New York sport team with a twist. I came up with a basketball team: “THE PIPE DREAM TEAM”. The uniform includes a varsity windbreaker, sneakers, tees and fleeces. The first product to drop is the varsity jacket.I was thrilled when I found out that our master of ceremony Allen was shooting it for the press release. This gave the extra touch to bring the project home.
Here is more info taken from Nike’s official press release:
Nike Sportswear and Grotesk present The Pipe Dream Team.
Representing the East, Kimou Meyer, aka Grotesk, gives us a team that reflects the everyday hustle of New York City living.Inspired by the uniforms of 1940’s and 1950’s professional basketball and baseball leagues, Grotesk also infused the characteristics of old union worker patches, jackets, and pins to create the look of a team that stands for having big dreams and doing whatever it takes to achieve them. “Many of us gravitate to this city carrying with us big dreams and a passion to attain them,” says Grotesk. “A rookie like me has to work twice as hard to prove that I belong. I wanted this team to stand for all of those who fight to make it.” The team motto, Hard Work Overcomes Mistakes, comes from a philosophy of challenge, innovation, and empowerment. “Whenever I finish a project I always look for ways to take it further. For me this slogan embodies a drive that encourages me to try new things pushing me towards that day when I have that perfect shot,” says Grotesk

I just spent last week on my back in bed… Yes, a fucking week on my back. Double herniated disk on my lower back. Not over yet. Any hope? Yes,I feel better like they removed 1 knife out of the 15 that are stabbed in my back. Oh and thanks to my partner in crime the Oxycodone to keep me on the green cloud.

Yesterday members of the Sao Paulo crew swung by the office with 12Oz prophet hall of famers Allen and Julio to hit few black books and pick up few tees (right Claudio?). Mad props to the crew for their kindness, generosity and good time. Peace to Gusavo & Otavio (Os Gemeos), Coyo, Ise and Finok.
